  1. Now that makes me curious as to who they would've picked if Mitchell wasn't available.
  2. Wow, I can't believe they just went the entire draft just drafting college bats. Not necessarily bad, but it seems like they were a little too up the middle happy this time. CF, SS, C, OF, SS They could've at least drafted Beeter and still had their fair share of up the middle guys
  3. Aside from Mitchell, there doesn’t seem to be anyone who’d command a high bonus. Perhaps either Mitchell’s asking for the moon or we’re gonna make a splash in the 5th round
  4. I'm also anxious for some pitching, but doesnt it seem like Stearns and company draft a lot of hitters? Perhaps the idea is to develop hitting and trade/sign pitching? I don’t think we’re gonna be outbidding the big markets for great pitchers in free agency, so it boils down to draft and develop or trade. Though I am curious as to whether any of the guys we’ve drafted/are drafting will net us good pitching somewhere down the line.
  5. I’m still a little baffled. In a draft deep with college pitchers, we opted to pass on them for the majority of the draft so far.
  6. For skipping class, apparently. Sounds like the concern over his makeup may be a tad overblown.
  7. Wilcox and Beeter on the board and we went with Zamora. I guess they're really loving up the middle players this year...
  8. I'm also wondering if Mitchell is gonna be costly considering that his agent is Scott Boras. A tad worried that we'll go for an underslot pick as well for the 2nd round.
  9. Two college arms off the board so far. Getting a bit nervous...
  10. Wilcox, Beeter, McMahon, and Van Eyk
  11. Wilcox, Dingler, or Beeter. Though I’m not sure if any of them will be available by then.
  12. Yelich, Hiura, and Mitchell. Our lineup’s gonna be insane in a few years
  13. I was hoping for a pitcher, but this is definitely a steal. Didn’t think we’d be getting a top 10 player at 20.
  14. Hoping for Wilcox, Crochet, or Bitsko Which means that they won’t pick any of them because they rarely ever draft someone I hope for
  15. My sources say the Brewers will be signing Dallas, Texas for a record deal
  16. Not sure how to feel about giving up Ray. He’s coming off a breakout season, but still strikes out a ton. On one hand I want to see if this breakout will last, but I’m still not sure if the bat will hold up given the frequent swing and miss.
  17. The package we’re sending is Luis Ortiz, Jean Carmona, and Jonathan Villar
  18. If he can be had for cheap, then I think he’d be a decent acquisition. It’d be interesting to see what DJ can do with him.
  19. I’d like to acquire Machado and Britton for one peanut.
  20. Doesn’t seem like what Stearns would do.l Yah...and three weeks ago trading for Machado was not a Stearns type move. It was almost offensive to even mention it. Now we are rumored a front runner putting together pretty substantial packages together to offer. Maybe we just don’t know what Stearns will do with a really good team. Something he hasn’t had before this year. Hasn’t even had a true contending team planned from the winter prior. 2017 was more a surprise. I keep telling people it’s too early to start assuming what Stearns is going to do or won’t do. It’s true that we don’t have a lengthy track record to work with regarding Stearns, and that we are in a different situation than where we were for the past few years, but from what he’s shown so far he seems to be more geared towards long-term success, or at the very least not sacrificing substantial future assets for the sake of a short burst. He may change his tactics now that he’s working with a definite contender, but to sell low on Arcia on top of trading away our best pitching prospect for a two-month rental seems like too dramatic of a deviance from the norm. This isn’t to say I know what’s going on in his head, but it just seems radically different from what we’ve seen so far.
  21. Arcia's 2017 numbers (as a 22-year-old) indicate that is a very incorrect assumption. .277 with 15 HRs and a .731 OPS in 506 ABs. Not world-beating by any means, but when combined with slick defense, I'd take those numbers any day. He wasn't doing it with smoke and mirrors. The blanket statement of "he can't hit" is a proven fallacy. Now give me .300, and 25HR's from the SS position with that Defense, and I'm sold. And I’d like to eat caviar and Kobe beef every day but that ain’t happening.
  22. Doesn’t seem like what Stearns would do. Broxton I can understand since he’s blocked for the next few years. But selling low on Arcia and sending a guy who can be a solid starter for them for the forseeable future seems a tad unreasonable for a rental. I can’t see Stearns making such a proposal unless he’s confident that he can sign Machado to a long-term deal. Makes me wonder if this “leak” was generated to get the Dodgers to pony up.
  23. So Carter Stewart, Matt McClain, J.T Ginn, and Gunnar Hoglund did not sign with their respective teams. I think that’s the most first round whiffs I’ve ever seen.
  24. I hope it’s the former, but I have a bad feeling that it’s the latter.
  25. Why not? we need Turang's bonus pool plus excess allowance to allow us to sign other players. Without Turang, aren't we now looking at forfeiting draft picks? Didn’t we save almost 700k from all the underslot deals? If we don’t sign Turang, then we’d just lose his slot, no?
