  1. Thornburg's not as dominant recently This concerns me
  2. Hey Colby, what do you think about Michael Reed and Danny Keller, in terms of stuff/skills and ceiling?
  3. Top 10 with draft picks: 1. Wily Peralta-hitting 98, striking people out, and bringing the walks down. A lot to like about him. 2. Taylor Jungmann- polished stuff with workhorse body. Won't be an ace, but will chew up innings and won't need much time in the minors. 3. Jed Bradley- fastball velocity is very good as a lefty, with a plus changeup. Still needs to find consistency with the slider. With the stuff as is, he's a mid-rotation starter. If he can find consistency with his slider ( which flashes plus) he can become a top of the rotation starter. 4. Tyler Thornburg- dominating in the lower minors and the stuff to back it up. Walks are starting to increase but still dominating. 5. Jorge Lopez- highest upside of the group. tons of projection and is already hitting the low-90s. He has a plus curveball and is working on a curveball. Fastball velo could sit low-90s to mid-90s when he fills out. 6. Yadiel Rivera- has tools to stick at SS and is hitting very well. 7. Khris Davis- great bat and is finally promoted to AA 8. Nick Ramirez- hitting away left and right and deserves a promotion at this point. 9. D'vo Richardson- great tools, but needs to pull it all together. High ceiling 10. Michael Reed- I don't have much info on him, but from a scouting report I read here, it seems that he has good tools but is pretty inconsistent and raw. I'm excited to see what he can do if he puts things together.
  4. A lot to like about Lopez. I think that when he fills out he should throw in the low-mid 90s. Anyone think that he's a little reminiscent of Yo?
  5. 1. Tyler Thornburg- absolutely dominating in the minors and has the stuff to back it up. People still believe he's a reliever due to his size and unorthodox delivery, but i still believe he can be a good starter in the long run. 2. Wily Peralta- he has good stuff and his strikeout numbers have increased. The problem with him has been consistency, but if he can find consistency he can be a very good prospect. He still has plenty of time to improve. 3. Khris Davis- great bat, but which position will he play if and once he gets to the majors? 4. Yadiel Rivera- great defensive skills, showing good pop with the bat, and is hitting for average. Although he still strikes out a ton, he has great potential as a SS. 5. Kyle Heckathorn- he's not as good as he was a year ago, but he's still doing well in AA 6. Cody Scarpetta- great stuff, but the lack of command and a good third pitch could be problematic if he wants to remain a starter. 7. Taylor Green- great bat and could very well replace McGehee soon enough. 8. Caleb Gindl- great bat and hitting away left and right 9. D'Vo Richardson- great upside and is starting to hit very well 10. Nick Ramirez- hitting very well from the get- go. If he keeps this up he could turn out to be a VERY good prospect for the Brewers.
  6. Can't wait 'til the 2012 draft. With Fielder and K-Rod leaving via FA, and with the Brewers' regular pick in the draft, the Brewers will have quite a lot of picks on their hands
  7. Hey Colby, if the Brewers do manage to sign Jungmann and Bradley, do you think they would go after HS talent in the 1st round in the 2012 draft, especially because Jungmann and Bradley are quick-to-the-majors type of guys (and therefore giving the Brewers more time to develop talent)?
  8. People think that Thornburg will be a relief pitcher because of: A. His size B. Effort in his delivery As for the effort, there has been a fair number of pitchers who were successful with deliveries with effort. Bob Gibson had some effort, and so did Tim Lincicum and Roy Oswalt.
  9. Consistently hit 95 on the gun with the fastball and the changeup seemed good (although he left some up in the zone)
  10. Any news on the Brewers' unsigned draft picks so far?
  11. I'm still pretty unsure about Jed Bradley's upside, though. Some people say that he's a mid-rotation starter, while others say that he's a TOR starter. Also I'm still bummed out about the Brewers skipping out on Guerrieri and Barnes. Both of them would have been better picks than Jungmann.
  12. I'd prefer if the Brewers sign Jed Bradley before Taylor Jungmann. I'm more excited about J. Bradley than Jungmann.
  13. Well so far they've been sitting on their hands. Why are they so spending-conscious when it comes to raw, yet high-ceilinged, talent like the ones showcased in the international FA?
  14. Hey Colby, do you think Lopez could become a top of the rotation starter? Many people think he has the highest upside among the Brewers' draft picks, and I think he could add another 2-3 mph to his fastball. And also, what do you think about Jed Bradley's slider? Some people say that it's just an average pitch, while others are saying that it flashes plus.
  15. After seeing the Brewers draft Jungmann, I was really hoping that they would draft Gray 15th. FB that ranges from 94-96, nasty curve, potential above-average changeup. I don't care if he's 5'11! Pedro Martinez and Roy Oswalt are about the same height!
  16. In terms of stuff, Gray, Barnes, Guerrieri> Jungmann, Jed Bradley They had 2 picks in the first round, in which 1 could be used for high upside, great stuff, not-so-very-safe guys and 1 for a safe pick. They used both picks on safe picks and left at least 3 guys with significantly better stuff and upside on the board. I just don't get it.
  17. I'm praying for A. Bradley for 12th and Lindor, Baez, or Gray for 15th.
  18. According to the latest mock draft on Perfect Game, the Brewers are projected to draft Sonny Gray 12th and George Springer 15th. I like the Sheets comparison for Gray, and I love the idea of the Brewers drafting Springer 15th
  19. The Brewers should draft high ceiling players for both the picks. They should refraining from "counterbalancing" with higher floor players such as Jungmann. Their farm system is in such a bad shape right now, that drafting high-floor players with limited upside would be just counterproductive (I'm assuming that you're talking about high-floor, limited ceiling guys?). However, if you're talking about high-floor, high-ceiling guys, then maybe they should, but I'm gonna cringe a little if they do.
  20. And Colby, who would you rather see the Brewers draft, Taylor Guerrieri or Archie Bradley?
  21. Anyone a little suspicious of Guerrieri's sudden helium? He didn't get noticed that much until either January or February, and then suddenly shot up through draft boards. Is he really gonna sustain his stuff and velocity? Eric Arnett also had a sudden helium and saw a jump in velocity, and when he got to the minors, he just crashed and burned. Not saying that Guerrieri = Arnett, but I'm a little suspicious about the sudden helium. Also, any chance the Astros skip out on A. Bradley (so the Brewers can draft him)?
  22. My mock draft through the first 15 picks: 1) Pirates- Anthony Rendon 2) Mariners- Gerrit Cole 3) D-Backs- Danny Hultzen 4) Orioles- Dylan Bundy 5) Royals- Bubba Starling 6) Nationals- Jed Bradley 7) D-Backs- Trevor Bauer 8) Indians- Taylor Jungmann 9) Cubs- Sonny Gray 10) Padres- George Springer 11) Astros- Francisco Lindor 12) Brewers- Archie Bradley 13) Mets- Alex Meyer 14) Marlins- Taylor Guerrieri 15) Brewers- Matt Barnes Taylor Guerrieri COULD be the Brewers' 12th pick, due to the Brewers' heavy interest in him, but I think that Archie Bradley's stuff, athleticism, and upside will be very tough to resist.
  23. If they're considering Guerrieri and Jed Bradley for 15th, then who are they considering for 12th? I hope it's Archie Bradley
  24. I hope the Brewers don't draft Jungmann. I really don't like the idea of drafting a mid-rotation starter
