  1. Really looking forward to seeing Brosseau turn into another Adames
  2. Reminder that the Yankees swung for the big name guys and still didn’t make it past the Wild Cards.
  3. Same approach as we’ve had the past few seasons- trade him if someone’s willing to pay a king’s ransom. Otherwise, no rush to send him out.
  4. WOW I don't remember the last time a guy got promoted twice in the same season
  5. At the time of their acquisition, neither Adames nor Tellez seemed like particularly inspiring gets, but they're turning out to be a HUGE part of this team's success. You gotta wonder if Stearns actually has clairvoyance.
  6. Very solid get to bolster the bullpen. I was curious as to what Henry could’ve done for us, but he was probably lower on the pecking order compared to Feliciano
  7. You know, after seeing the trade I was thinking that this year would’ve been the perfect time to trade Hader if we weren’t competitive
  8. Reese Olson seems like a steep price to pay for Norris…
  9. Better the Yankees than the Dodgers. Even sweeter to see the Yankees waste prospects even when they're so far behind the Red Sox and the Rays
  10. We're kinda stuck with Yelich for a while, but at least for this season I wouldn't mind Taylor sharing some time with Cain (or maybe slowly become the starting CF outright) and take over for Yelich when it seems like he needs a break. At the very least, I trust Taylor to hit better than JBJ.
  11. I'm a fan of this trade. Didn't really give up much and got a guy who could play corner IF and has some pop in his bat
  12. As amazing as Buxton would be, as soon as word gets out that he’s available, I imagine that we’d be outgunned in a hurry by a team with a deeper farm system.
  13. I think some have mentioned an ailing back to be the culprit. If that's the case, it would make sense as to why Yelich can't lift the ball to save his life.
  14. We need to build a hitting lab now and have Yelich spend the entire offseason in it.
  15. Outside of Watson and maybe Madden there weren’t many guys that I heavily preferred over Frelick, and I’m not finding Frelick awe-inspiring either. IMO this year’s draft felt pretty top-heavy.
  16. I honestly thought we wouldn't pick any HS players at all!
  17. I'm right with you on this. Really excited that we were able to get Binelas in the 3rd round! I know there are some questions about what position he can play at the pro level, and some concerns about his very slow start this year. But, it appears as if he was coming off of that injury and needed some time to get fully healthy and back to feeling good at the plate again. Looks like he hit over .300 after that first month or so of the season and still hit 19 bombs, playing against some of the best competition in college baseball this year. I know there is some swing/miss in his game, but I'm excited to see if the power potential plays out with him. And, if he does have to move to 1B - I'm not sure if that's the worst thing in the world for us, as we have a glaring organizational hole at that position as well. Hell, even if he turns out to be a .240 hitter, if he could hit 25+ HRs and can stick at either corner IF positions that would be a HUGE boon for us.
  18. I heard about his high-spin curveball some years back and thought he'd be making a name for himself. Alas, baseball is a cruel profession
  19. Really interesting how literally all the picks we've had stretching back to last year were college players. Would be interesting to bring up this trend to Tod Johnson and see what he says about it, even though we'll likely get a very generic answer.
  20. I’m also concerned about the hit tool, especially since we don’t exactly have a good track record of fixing shaky hit tools. But at this point in the draft we might as well take some risks.
  21. Even if Binelas doesn't stick at 3B, it seems like he'll have the pop to play 1B which is also a good outcome in my book. Hopefully he'll be able to hit enough to progress.
  22. 2017: Hiura, Lutz, Francis, Bettinger, Lazar, Ward, Bullock, File 2018: Turang, Gray, Bello, Ashby, Rasmussen, Howell, Olson, Andrews, Matulovich 2019: Small, Kelly, Bennett, Hamilton, Floyd, 2020: Turang, Zamora, Warren, Wiemer, Cantrelle, All our first round picks have performed & moved up consistently since Johnson got here with plenty of intriguing guys picked up in the later rounds to boot. With the caveat that making a determination on a farm director after only 4-5 years is probably a little too early with standard prospect development timelines, I like the picks that Johnson & company have made since taking over. Turang's so good we drafted him twice!
  23. Oof, there goes Bubba Chandler to Pittsburgh. Was hoping we'd nab him at some point. Perhaps Pittsburgh got a massive discount by getting Henry which allows them to shell out big bucks for Solometo and Chandler. At least more so than we could.
  24. At least to me, not many of the HS players available were all that enticing by the time we got around to picking. Perhaps we could've drafted Watson at 15, or Chandler at Comp A or Round 2, but it's possible that those guys would've been extremely difficult signs for us, particularly Chandler.
