It looks like 2 pitchers will be added to each side due to scheduled Sunday starts. If they want to add a reliever I think Axford is definitely next in line. Marcum probably isn't though, behind Tommy Hanson for sure.
Prince and Braun (and Weeks for that matter) seem to be ultra insistent on batting where they do, so I don't know why you would mess with it unless Braun is going on the DL
I would really like to move into a platoon situation now at 3B rather than later so Green, Gamel, whoever else plays 3B has a little time to adjust and we have a little time to evaluate him before a heated playoff race starts.
back to back walks, Gallardo having trouble with his command, no outs, Joe Mauer up who is 2-2 tonight, is there anything encouraging you guys can tell me right now?
ooh Fielder chasing that ball in the dirt on a 3-2 count 1 out right after a HR and a walk. That's the little thing that can be the difference between a pitcher like Liriano locking down or losing it completely.
I should have put the brilliant defense part in blue if that's what you meant. I thought he was doing OK but then looked frustrated after those screw ups.
~.820 OPS in his first 1064 PA .596 OPS in 318 PA this year We are getting very close to the point where it's not a slump, but just that he's not very good and/or declining since he's already getting old and beat up.
Not in my opinion. Narveson should have a pretty good feel for what pitches to throw and what they are going to do at that point. If Mauer had 2-3 at bats against Narveson I would have felt different. I liked the matchup when Mauer hadn't seen any pitches, would probably need to see at least a few to find good timing and see Narveson's release point.
Leaving in Narveson for Mauer here is the right call. Creative, good managing move by the Twins to bring in a lefty to face Narveson at this point though.
