    Helms keeps getting hit by pitches? is there a secret pitchers branch of the 3TO cult? If you had a "Krispy Creme" tattoo on your left butt cheek in 360pt font that only covered 50% you'd get hit with a lot of balls too.

    I hate to sound like a pessimist again http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif , but when this outage hits 24 hours (and I have all the faith in the world that Ezboard won't be able to fix the problem that quickly since they have been notoriously slow at other forums) would it be possible to throw up another forum like "Major League II" so that we can get our fix? Are there additional costs to do that? Would it be a problem later to delete?

    I am growing very concerned about this team. I don't think I've seen anything that would almost guarantee the Brewers making the playoffs, but that's prety close. If scoop is worried, then we should all be prepared for a great season. Thanks scoop, see you in October

    I'd love to see a Sheets/Davis/Capuano/Hendrickson/JDLR rotation by the end of the year. That's entirely possible and would be consistent with the team limping to 70 wins.

If you think that Nedly's adoration and preference for Helms is just a fantom of many people's imaginations (including mine) then you might actually be the one with a conspiracy theory. I didn't want to admit it, but I am the ringleader of a conspiracy to destroy the elite career of Wes Helms. I've recruited a dedicated and loyal following to spread misinformation and to conspire to hide the stellar career of Wes Helms. I have been successful in recruiting all official stat companies, national media, and all internet outlets to distort Wes Helm's accomplishments including his real 1.200 career OPS and his record breaking 102 HR in 2003. I have finally been outed and I can no longer hide my persecution of the truest and greatest player of all time Wes Helms.

    OK I am truely sick. The lineup looks like the opening day lineup (except Magruder is in CF due to Clark's health) and guess who's the starting 3B? Yep, Nedly Yost Jr. Unfrickinbelievable.

    102 OPS+ at a corner spot with zero (and arguably negative) defensive value isn't "above average". Granted I shouldn't have used the "above average" adjective, but the gist (jist?) of my argument was a relative analysis of the different 25th men and why there seems to be a "double" standard. I still maintain that there is a weird "bias" against LH. But I will say that I cringed whenever he'd bat 3rd (!), and was touted as a stud, because, as we all know, the sure way to fix a last place team is by adding a pinch hitter (and then starting him!). I don't want to give the impression that in any way I wanted, liked, or enjoyed having "the Weapon" (ok I did enjoy having him as a target) around. I wasn't happy that we had Lenny Harris, and I dished out my (yours, and probably 10 others peoples) share of crap at him and Jervy Lopester, but in the end he did perform well for that 1 season he was with the Brewers. As Robert pointed out that may have been an abberation, but I think too many people are sticking with the perception that Harris was crap, TD is OK, and Cirillo will regain the fountain of above-average-youth (all data to the contrary). Subjectivism vs. Reality? Pessimism vs. Optimism? I think it's a little bit of both with a tad bit of what MSC was alluding to and something I'm sensing might be a player in all of this (even if it's only at a subconcious level).

    I guess I would rather have Cirillo than Durrington or even the guy that I first heard called a "professional hitter"....Lenny Harris For comparison (OPS+): Lenny Harris (2002) = 105 Trent Durrington (2004) = 74 Jeff Cirillo (2002) = 74 Jeff Cirillo (2003) = 50 Jeff Cirillo (2004) = 48 I didn't like the "pimping" of Harris that went on when he was acquired, but in the one year he played in Milwaukee he was above average. I don't get the Hate for Lenny if you compare Durrington's numbers and project the abysmal numbers of Cirillo. What exactly is everyone's problem with a backup who's better than league average? I guess if the player is "grittier" then it's ok to be "crappier". Edit: I'm not calling you out specifically tlpc4, many people have made off-handed comments against harris over the last few years, and many of the same people don't seem to have a problem with Durrington or Cirillo.

    You know there is a certain amount of luck needed in baseball. Unfortuntely it turns out to be the wrong kind of luck for the Brewers. Like the Brewers got "Lucky" when Trent Durrington had a decent spring last year and the Brewers decided to keep him as the 25th man. Now we have great luck this spring with Jeff "I can hit only if I close my eyes" Cirillo getting a HR near the end of spring training to cement his position with Nedly Yost as this years 25th man. If we have this much luck going our way I might have to revise down my estimates for wins this year.

    i mean, you can't shank the whole article, but i'm pretty sure that we are allowed a ton of space to crticize other people's work... What about people's overuse of the elipses? I think that taking small snippets as a point of discussion should be fine, copying whole or near whole articles or content should be a problem, and paraphrasing goes into a grey area. It's not my decision, but it might be worth the new PR czar contacting some of these sites and asking what they consider appropriate. Normally I don't like to notify someone that is unaware of your activities, to your activities, but both BA and BP are aware of Brewerfan.net. Being proactive and asking them for "guidance" in policing your forums will definitely lead to more positive than negative consequences.

Reaches a broad audience The internet by definition. Check. 3. Produces original content Already there! Check. 4. Has an established record of developing original content Vague definition makes this one a bit of a problem, but Brewerfan was established in 2001 and original content has always been a part of the site so I think you qualify. Check. 5. Employs full-time journalists Full-time is a little vague since I can't imagine Drew Olson or Hardricourt can be called Full-time given there absolute lack of content (original or any). Won't Bill quit his other job? If he won't cooperate this is about the only sticking point. You need an independantly wealthy Brewerfan who's willing to take the Full-Time Journalist job for no pay..... Students might qualify if they don't have another job. Full-time Journalist could just be anyone without another source of income. Are we sure Bill doesn't want to give up his job? This is the stickler.....let me think a bit on this one.

    A peek at Ned's Nightly Journal: Great game today the guys battled and battled and we won because we outbattled the Royals. Little Ben struggled with his location but battled his way through 2 innings and inspired the rest of the team to win. Russell Branyon had an ok game, he was 3 for 3 off of a few "major league" pitchers in Lima and Tankersly. I wonder what Wes could do against similar pitching since he was so successful against the infinitely superior pitching of the Rockies including Jamey Wright. I'd like to get Russell some more AB against real pitching to see if he doesn't strike out so much, but I can't afford for Wes to stagnate with the Regular Season approaching. It's hard to see how Russell really fits in with this team as a regular because he just doesn't battle on every AB like Wes.......

    I think it's a great idea. His splits have always indicated it, and if he needs to bat, that's just fine. I think you are referring to his tendancy to be fine once through the lineup then get clobbered. I agree and it probably indicates that he has only 1 serviceable pitch. Just a guess.

    this is all we need......lee with a potential broken hand...and helms trying to get hot and ruin our dreams of Branyan FINALLY getting a full time gig. Well the pitcher that threw a fastball down the middle of the plate to Helms that just barely made it out walked DD (arguably the worst hitting pitcher in the majors), but I'm sure it won't matter to Nedly.

    I thought the bases were loaded. How did the second guy score? Wild Pitch scored a run. Hardy looked like crap in the field bottom of the first. Error on an easy grounder and he almost threw the back end of the DP away.

    I wish my cynicism would advance to the point that it becomes a bad thing when a Brewer hits a Grand Slam. Bases need to be full for a Grand Slam.
