  1. Payamps had a 3.23 ERA last year & a 3.35 career ERA. He wasn't getting DFA'd
  2. And it is certainly possible they will. Right now Devin is the closer and some combo of Bush/Strezlecki/Guerra are likely your main set up guys. But even just having to dip into the minors for guys it seems Arnold completely overhauled the guys on "the shuttle"
  3. An underrated part of the Brewers offseason so far is Matt Arnold adding depth to the Brewers bullpen. Adding guys like Junk, Peguero, Seminaris, Guerra, Varland, Payamps & Yeager, plus young prospects like Uribe & Cam Robinson. Our bullpen could be drastically different in 2023 If you believe that Frelick & Turang can put up similar WAR to Renfroe & Wong then we added nearly all of that depth without diminishing the rest of the roster.
  4. I mean Ruiz was graded on almost all prospect lists behind Chourio, Frelick, Mitchell, & Wiemer. I do think there is something to Ruiz being slightly undervalued due to stolen bases becoming a bigger part of the game going forward but even considering that there is almost no chance his value was that of a 25 year old All Star Catcher who is under control for another 5 seasons, let alone 2 pitchers on top of that
  5. That sure is a lot of maybe's and might's you seem to be counting on
  6. I think it's likely Turang starts in AAA. Considering he's unlikely to be a top 100 guy the upside to him starting in the Bigs is limited as opposed to keeping him in AAA for a few weeks to get another year of control
  7. I think it's likely the Brewers open the season with all 3 of Burnes, Woodruff, & Adames and that 2 of the 3 likely get dealt next offseason and 1 of them extended(Adames seems the most likely) What could change that is if the Mets miss out on Verlander/Rodon and offer a kings ransom for Woodruff or Burnes
  8. I feel like the 2023 upside is if Winker can bounce back to his 2020 or 2021 version of play. He was outstanding those seasons and would have been our best bat last year. Toro feels like the new Jace. Could start the year in a platoon with Brosseau until Turang comes up
  9. And they could have just kept giving at bats to Lorenzo Cain who had an OPS+ of 34. Mitchell was still in AA at the time of the Cain move
  10. This was my first thought. A perfect stop gap 5th OF to have in the bigs until Frelick & Wiemer are "ready"(AKA service time). Then after a few weeks and a handful of starts he'll go back to AAA
  11. Ah yes, I forgot pitchers stop developing after 6.1 innings in the Major Leagues
  12. I don't see the big deal with the Singleton addition. He mashed righties in AAA last season and I doubt the Brewers are just handing him a starting job. He'll probably given a chance to earn PT in spring training, then if he makes the team it'll probably be as a backup or in a pinch hitter role. If he doesn't produce he'll likely be given the boot early on or not even make the squad if he has a poor spring.

  14. Against righties, Singleton had a .400+ OBP & .500+ SLG. It's a weird add but there is a path to Singleton getting PT

  16. The Brewers are 10th in Defensive Runs Saved, 9th in Runs per game, & 13th in team ERA. While not elite in any one of the 3 phases they are above average in all 3 phases
  17. I could be open to the idea of taking a step back in 2023, dealing Burnes, Woodruff, and Renfroe. Giving the rookies a chance and then filling in in 2024 what we need. Similar to what we did from 2017 to 2018. I think even without Woodruff and Burnes we could be respectable
  18. I'm fascinated to see what direction the Front Office takes this offseason. Almost assuredly 1 of Burnes, Woodruff, Lauer, or Houser is dealt in order to open up a spot for Ashby fulltime. Do they deal 2 or 3 though to try and maximize their return and then either sign a vet FA or give Small a real chance in the rotation? Not to mention Gasser who might start next season in Nashville. At Catcher Feliciano will have 1 option remaining, do they start him in AAA and pair Caritini with a vet catcher(Severino perhaps) or do they give Feliciano a chance to stick in the bigs? Turang seems likely to get a shot next season, but do they give him the keys as the 2b or do they give him more of a Jace role to begin? The outfield is probably the most fascinating to me. With Frelick, Mitchell, Ruiz, and Wiemer all knocking on the door to the Big leagues do they deal away Taylor or Renfroe to open up a spot? Do they move Yelich to DH fulltime? And on top of this what is their timeline projection with any of these prospects? Do they try and keep them down long enough to gain that extra year of service time or do they start some in the majors from day 1 to see if any can win ROY which would earn the Brewers some extra picks in the draft. If they do start them in the minors then they will need someone in the bigs temporarily, who could they get as a short term stop gap? With the plethora of prospects seemingly able to make an impact at the Major League Level next season, it makes the offseason fascinating
  19. That was from a parody account. It wasn't true
  20. I do get the feeling Ruiz will be up in short order(2 weeks or so). It's not uncommon for teams who acquire young players to send them to the minors first to get acclimated with the organization.
  21. Lamet being DFA'd is a little surprising to me but not overly so. He always felt like a guy thrown into the deal to make the Financials work. He was almost assuredly going to be non tendered in the offseason. He wasn't going to make or break the Hader deal. Lamet wasn't the important part of the trade, Stearns called Gasser one of the best pitching prospects in baseball. This will come down to how Ruiz/Gasser develops and how Rogers pitches this year.
  22. His bat is fine, although only 3 Home Runs this year is interesting(and not in a good way) but I don't understand where we would play him. He hasn't played CF since 2018 and we all know the Brewers really want a good defensive CF.
  23. I want a Yelich jersey ASAP Same. Hopefully they are online soon
