  1. If Houser has to go on the IL that might have just saved either Payamps or Varland
  2. And that's fine, call Wiemer up 2 weeks into the season once he can't gather enough service time to gain a full year. Trading a year of prime Wiemer for 2 weeks now is extremely short sighted
  3. Sure, but that's not really my point. My point was the two weeks is unlikely to make a substantial impact in the standings, if he plays well enough to win ROY after that that's great but we shouldn't just willingly give up a year of his prime for 2 weeks now
  4. Except if he plays that well you will really want that age 31 year under team control but now you've given that away. It seems unlikely all 3 of Mitchell, Wiemer, and Frelick make the OD roster. The Brewers can earn an extra draft pick with Frelick, they can't with Wiemer. This really seems like a no brainer. As for the competitiveness, even if Wiemer is a 5 win player this year(highly unlikely), two weeks likely wouldn't make a noticeable impact(1 win at the absolute most). The potential of 1 extra win is not nearly enough for me to throw away a year of his prime
  5. I am curious if they are trying to trade Voit to Philly, seeing if they can get really good value before committing to him as the short side of a platoon at 1b
  6. Possible, but performance or injury could dictate that he stays up. If another injury to an outfielder happens or if he performs well the Brewers will have a tough time justifying sending him down.
  7. I said this in the opening day thread but I don't understand it if we'd bring Wiemer up for OD. Frelick makes sense as the Brewers could earn a draft pick for him, but Wiemer doesn't qualify so they'd be burning his entire age 31 season for 2 weeks of Wiemer now which for a small market team just doesn't make sense.
  8. Possible, but injuries or performance could dictate differently, if Wiemer comes out and tears it up the Brewers will have a hard time justifying sending him down. Likewise if there were injuries to any other outfielders before TT came back
  9. He only made 1 of the top 100 lists that are considered(BA, Pipeline, ESPN). You need to make 2 to be eligible
  10. I get that, I just don't think it's smart. Brian Anderson or Owen Miller can cover those at bats for 2 weeks. I just don't believe a full year of age 31 Joey Wiemer is worth 2 weeks now
  11. Arnold also stated Frelick & Wiemer were under serious consideration for OD. Frelick I can certainly understand, but Wiemer isn't eligible for the draft pick compensation so we'd be throwing away a year of control in his prime for 2 weeks now which wouldn't seem smart to me
  12. 🤔🤔🤔
  13. We clearly aren't going to see eye to eye on this, but I'm very willing to bet the ratings on these games are far lower than if they aired it on cable. The NFL is keenly aware that letting a teams fanbase watch the games of their team is paramount which is why they have these exceptions, whereas MLB seems to be making it harder for their fans to watch their team.
  14. This is atleast the 2nd time I can remember Counsell specifically mentioning Yeager. He must be making a good impression
  15. Except your whole point was that the NFL makes you subscribe to multiple outlets like Amazon & NFL Network to watch your team and that's just not true, anyone who is in the Green Bay or Milwaukee market can watch every single game. The two aren't really similar. For the NBA you don't need any streaming services to watch every Bucks game. MLB is the only one who is doing this and like you said MLB is very regional where people typically only watch their team so it would seem logical that you would want to make those games easily available in those markets.
  16. Funny how you dropped the NFL argument once it was brought up how the NFL televises all games locally. MLB could easily do something similar
  17. That's wild to me. Guessing contracts were based on market size and potential. I'd venture to guess the Brewers can't squeeze much more out of their fan base, Angels probably could increase quite a bit if they actually became good
  18. It really is amazing, I saw so much complaining about the line last year and then they graded out as the 3rd best in the NFL last season.
  19. Varland has been on fire after a slow start to camp. Definitely think he'll make the bullpen
  20. They aired those games locally still, I know because I watched them
  21. I usually only watch a few games a week when my life schedule allows me to, but it is certainly annoying that when I can sit down and watch a game if I'm not able to. I pay for cable to be able to watch Bucks, Brewers, Badgers on BTN, etc. I also watch a lot of TV shows and subscribe to 5 separate streaming services. Friday nights are one of the best nights to just sit back and watch a game so it'll certainly be annoying come June when 3 separate Friday games are on Apple, I'll probably suck it up and subscribe for a month to be able to watch but no other sport makes it this difficult to watch just a regular season game
  22. I see people in NFC North Division Champ gear all the time. Atleast in that case you made it to the playoffs. This would be more like if the NFL did a 2nd playoffs last year with the Packers, Lions, Commanders, & Steelers of whoever else just missed the playoffs and won that
