  1. Shaw has started in two games. He had an rbi yesterday

  3. Listing guys as 1,2,3,4 or 5 is pointless. Looking at the start of the season I'd like to line up our rotation so that Burnes is the "4" and Anderson is the "5" so when we go against the Cubs we have Burnes, Anderson, & Woodruff going against then. I want Anderson purely because he's a lefty and the Cubs are lefty dominant in their lineup.

  5. Yea, Lindblom is fine as a #5 guy. If Peralta or Lauer has a great spring then give them a shot over Lindblom but if not then let Lindblom be the #5 guy to start the season. He's fine as a low end starter

  7. Yep. I think Taylor ends up going to the minors to start the season, however I think he'll be the first one called up for an injury and I think he plays some real significant innings for this team down the stretch. And does it well is my guess
  8. I expect Topa & Rasmussen have good shots to make the team. Yardley too
  9. Does File accrue service time while he's on the IL?
  10. I think Mckinney or Fisher probably have the upper hand on Taylor as Taylor still has an option left. That said I expect Taylor will get plenty of PT and be the first OF called up in the case of an injury. My guess though is Mckinney or Fisher are the fourth outfielder and it's possible Arcia is the 5th outfielder to start the year
  11. I look it as JBJ would be getting the at bats that are currently being taken by the Fisher/Mckinney/Taylor group. Plus a few from Garcia & Cain. The at bats and playing time would work itself out and his defense would be really nice. I'd be all for it on a 2-3 year deal
  12. Question, can options be negotiated into a contract? Like for example a could a team sign a guy with no options to a 1 year contract that includes the ability to option them to the minors?
  13. I'll believe it when I see it but man, this would make our bullpen even more dominant
  14. He's the last guy in for me. It wouldn't surprise me at all if he doesn't make the squad
  15. Lots of good arms in the competition. If they go with a 9 man pen I see something like this Hader Williams Suter Peralta Topa Rasmussen Lauer(to start the season, then once the minor league season starts he goes there to stretch out) Boxberger Yardley
  16. We're not sure, but the mere fact that he was tendered a contract would suggest it. Manny is an elite defender, and Nottinghams decent-looking offensive numbers so far are basically all due to a good HR rate, but one that based on his minor league numbers, HR/FB rate and statcast data seems unsustainable. Add to that a 35% strikeout rate. Basically, I think Piña offers both better defense and offense. But I also think they'll not make their decision until they've seen what they look like in spring; it could still be Nottingham. I suspect they'd want to keep both though. I think they'll try to sneak Nottingham through waivers at the end of ST. Definitely possible. I think Nottingham might actually be the favorite. He's super cheap for a few years yet and seems like he'd be a fine backup catcher. But I won't be surprised either way
  17. Yep, I'm fully on board with giving Urias the starting SS spot this year and seeing how he does
  18. Not sure quite where to put this but are we sure Pina will be the backup catcher? Nottingham is out of options and he's been ok in the majors
  19. It's baseball. Your best hitter is in the 2-hole. That's pretty much the way every team does it. I'm sure there is some science and reasoning behind it. The 2 hole hitter gets rough 20 or so more at bats throughout the season so your giving more at bats to your best hitter while also keeping him in a run producing spot. Also after the first time through the order there isn't much of a difference between the 2 & 3 spots in the lineup. As well the player who bats third statistically has the most at bats with nobody on base and 2 outs. Analytically speaking the 3rd hitter is actually the 5th most important spot in the lineup. All that said though lineup construction means very little and at most is worth maybe 1 win over the course of a season
  20. Now that we have Shaw & Anderson back. The last move I'd like to see made is to bring back Braun in early March. Him Cain & Garcia can rotate days off. Gives us a really darn good fourth outfielder and frankly I don't trust any of Mckinney, Fisher, Taylor, Ray, or Lopes if something happens to one of our starters
  21. I don't expect 2b to be a strict platoon by any means. That said Wong does have worse stats against lefties so I would expect his days off would come against lefties
