  1. They were 6th in MLB in runs scored after the Adames trade. They absolutely went cold in the playoffs but judging anything off a 4 game sample is usually a terrible idea
  2. What makes you think they'll fall off from last season? I do agree they probably need to be a top 10 offense to be a World Series contender but I also believe they are closer to a top 10 offense than a bottom 10 offense.
  3. There seems to be quite a bit of consternation about the state of the Brewers lineup so figured we could put it all in to one thread. I'm personally a believer in this offense. There seems to be this narrative that the Brewers had a great lineup in 2018 but have fallen off significantly. But in 2018 the Brewers were 12th in MLB in runs scored at 4.63 runs per game. In 2021 the Brewers were 12th in MLB in runs scored at 4.56 runs per game. The 2018 Brewers got shutout 12 times compared to 10 times in 2021. I expect this offense to be right around the same when the season ends. Renfroe has definitely gotten off to a cold start which hasn't helped things. I'd like to see Rowdy get everyday ABs to see what he could do with those but overall I think this is an above average offense in MLB.
  4. What makes you think they will go from 12th in runs scored in MLB to bottom 5?
  5. The platoon at C & 3b are self explanatory. The CF one I think isn't cause Cain needs every other day off moreso cause Taylor killed lefties last year. I am not a fan of the platoon at 1st especially since Hiura has reverse platoon splits
  6. I believe the Brewers and Twins will continue to face off 4 times every year which is what it has been in recent years so that part isn't changing
  7. Totally fair. Which is why it's tough cause I don't think sitting Rowdy is the answer. Baltimore will have multiple lefties going this series, are we really going to bench Rowdy after how he played?
  8. I will be curious if Tellez or Hiura gets the start today. Tellez has been hot and historically hits lefties as well as he hits righties but if CC wants to get Hiura some ABs it probably comes in games like this
  9. Rowdy, Adames, and Yelich all off to great starts Rowdy with an OPS of 1.357(OPS+ of 305) Adames with an OPS of 1.051(OPS+ of 214) Yelich with an OPS of 1.038(OPS+ of 216) It's still early obviously but atleast some of our hitters are off to fast starts
  10. Obviously extremely early but Yelich has an OPS over 1.000 right now.
  11. https://twitter.com/Brewers/status/1512464019952746503?t=i6ahyUJBXQNYzCSDBJ9nhg&s=19
  12. Our new 3rd catcher replacing Brett Sullivan
  13. He seems to slug better against RHP but get on base more vs lefties. I'll be curious if late in games if Omar is up against a lefty reliever if CC will pinch hit for him. Also has played a decent amount at 1b and dabbled a bit at 3b.
  14. I think this is a fine move. I'm not very high on Howell becoming a meaningful big leaguer. There were other options I preferred ahead of Caritini but he seems solid enough.
  15. Apparently Severino is ineligible for the playoffs
  16. Caritini has one option left so can be sent to the minors when Severino comes back
  17. People act like Yelich is washed. I get the expectations are high for him but he was still a slight above average bat last year with a WRC+ of 101
  18. I think based on the above names I'd put Alfaro 1 and Nottingham 2 but it's close. Nola 3 & Caritini 4. Those 4 are clearly above the rest imo
  19. Tony Wolters, Jorge Alfaro, Seby Zavala all are pretty bad with the bat. They might be able to hold their own defensively but would basically be a blackhole on offense. Whereas Nottingham atleast has a small history of being able to handle the short side of a platoon with Narvaez.
  20. He had an OPS of .973 vs lefties in the minors last year. And you still haven't answered what is your preferred option? What catcher is available that's better
  21. It's based on the fact in his career he has mashed lefties so far(albeit in limited ABs) and knows the pitching staff/philosophy so in theory would have a shorter learning curve.
  22. While I understand what you are saying. Who are those teams 3rd Catchers? The Brewers had a catching duo that was well thought of and now the short side platoon of that duo will miss the first half of the year. Out of the free agents, internal options, and trade possibilities who do you want that is considerably better? Imo considering Omar will start nearly every game against righties, for us it is imperative to find a guy who can start vs lefties. Nottingham has an OPS of 1.039 vs lefties in his career and we know he can handle the pitching staff. He seems like a perfect fit for what we need
  23. With the Severino suspension, trading back for Nottingham makes a ton of sense. He has a career OPS vs lefties of 1.039. He knows the staff and he shouldn't cost too much to acquire. I'd much rather he be the backup to Omar than Sullivan or Feliciano
  24. Trading for old friend Jacob Nottingham back makes a ton of sense. He has a career 1.039 OPS vs lefties and he knows the staff already. Shouldn't cost too much either.
