  1. This is a huge blow. Omar sucks vs lefties so ideally you want a platoon mate as his backup. Sullivan bats lefty and Feliciano by most accounts isn't ready yet. Between Sullivan and Feliciano they have 1 career MLB at bat
  2. I'll give it a B. It was fine and about what I expected. I can see the 1b argument but I am excited to see Urias continue to grow. He had 23 HR and a .345 obp last year and I'd like to see if he can continue to improve. Overall this offseason was fine
  3. The Brewers finished 12th in Runs scored in MLB last year
  4. That's correct. The 40 man sits at 39
  5. If I'm not mistaken this basically sets our Opening Day roster. Milner and Gustave get the final 2 bullpen spots. Brosseau will be the backup SS to start
  6. Fangraphs has it at $50 million. Not that that is much better
  7. Woodruffs HR off Kershaw in the NLCS
  8. Even Wong could get some rest on days when someone like Freddy pitches who isn't a big groundball pitcher
  9. Yep the allure of Spring Training has faded for me. It was great to watch meaningless baseball at first but now I'm ready for games to actually count. It's been proven time and time again Spring Training stats are mostly meaningless so I can't even get myself to care whose played well or not
  10. Interesting lineup today. Renfroe at 1st, Hiura at 2nd, Brosseau at SS. Frelick, Gray, & Wilson all getting starts.
  11. It was originally announced as a minor league signing but apparently that was just due to some weird technicality. Will provide length out of the pen and maybe make a few starts if needed. Hasn't exactly had great numbers in recent years but the Brewers must see something in him to give him a Major League deal. He is out of options
  12. In spring you can take a pitcher out and put them back in
  13. This is a great problem to have. Injuries are going to pop up this year. Yelich has gotten hurt quite a bit the last few years, Cutch and Cain are older and likely to spend time on the IL, other injuries will pop up. If everyone stays healthy and they can't find enough ABs for good hitters I'll gladly take that problem
  14. As a Brewer fan I love this signing. Let the Cardinal fans have their last dance and get all nostalgic with Pujols as he tries to chase down 700 and hopefully that means a bunch of PAs for him since he kind of sucks now, especially vs RHP https://twitter.com/dgoold/status/1508295682158911488?t=4mUnBLroGC4WdK9AUCt-8Q&s=19
  15. I gotta say I'm excited for Taylor. He absolutely should start every game vs LHP. In fact one of Cain or Yelich might need to sit games vs lefties since Taylor Cutch and Renfroe all mash lefties
  16. 1. Ashby 2. Small 3. Wiemer 4. Quero 5. Frelick 6. Turang 7. Perez 8. Mitchell 9. Black 10. Feliciano 11. Zamora 12. Uribe 13. Eduardo Garcia 14. Kelly 15. Chourio 16. Mendez 17. Barrios 18. Floyd 19. Russ Smith 20. Severino 21. Vargas 22. Valerio 23. Gray Jr 24. Howell 25. Erceg 26. Warren 27. Barker 28. Rodriguez 29. File 30. Castaneda
  17. I agree with this sentiment
  18. Just to clarify. Thompson traded down, not Gute lol
  19. Yelich has been worth 15.9 WAR since the trade, the 4 guys we traded combined for -5.64 WAR with Miami
  20. I see Strickland just signed with Cincinnati. I doubt we add anyone else, Stearns and Co. love to have flexibility at the backend of the bullpen to send guys down or call fresh arms up. Signing another guy who can't be sent down would limit that. Hader, Williams, Suter, Cousins, Boxberger all seem like locks to stay in the Bigs all season barring injury or ineffectiveness so that leaves 2 to 3 spots for "the shuttle guys" and who knows if any of those shuttle guys breakout similar to Cousins, Boxberger, or Strickland last season. Plus Stearns and Co. have proven to be really effective at finding midseason pen arms for cheap if they need to
  21. I've thought about the Turang option as the backup MI to start the season but I don't think they pull the trigger. Wong and Adames are nearly every day guys so there wouldn't be many starts available and the minor league season this year starts at the same time as the Major league season. I suspect they'll let Reyes start the year with the big league club and that he'll get very little time(Maybe 1 start) before Urias is healthy and ready to go
  22. If Urias misses opening day I expect a Jace/Brosseau platoon at 3b until he's ready. In 2021 Jace had a .351 obp & .735 ops vs RHP while Brosseau had a .321 obp & .747 ops vs LHP. I do wonder if this would allow Turang a shot at the OD roster to backup 2b & SS though.
  23. To be fair it's closer to 5/100 with the posting fee. It's hard to tell cause if he hits like he did in Japan that'll be a steal for the Cubs but we've also seen alot of international players come over and struggle in MLB
  24. This lineup doesn't have a deadly middle of the order(unless Yelich comes back to MVP Yelich) but it's does stretch quite a bit. There's no real black holes in this lineup. I mean if a guy who had 23 home runs and a .345 obp is your #8 hitter that's quite a bit better than most teams #8 guys
  25. Brewers should absolutely go after Luke Voit now that the Yankees signed Rizzo
