  1. Totally fine with this. Adds a left hander to the depth on that side of the infield. Not expecting a ton but if he can hit righties reasonably well this should suffice
  2. I wasn't a fan of this signing last year. This year however I like the signing alot more with what should be a much improved infield defense
  3. If Arcia moves to third. Yikes
  4. I think purely for depth purposes we need to bring in a guy like Gyorko, Shaw, Frazier, Franco, etc. Right now the left side of our infield depth is Urias, Arcia, Robertson, & Green. Chances are two of those 4 aren't good
  5. Tbh I have been against Franco a majority of the offseason but now I'm coming around on him. How does his defense compare to guys like Shaw, Frazier, or Gyorko?
  6. 100% with you there. I'll watch it however I need to
  7. He's fine to add to the competition for the 4th outfielder role. Should be a fun battle between him, Mckinney, Taylor, & Lopes
  8. Yep I'm all aboard the Brett Anderson train which is weird because I disliked the signing last year. But especially if we keep Urias/Robertson at third, he should succeed with our defense
  9. What is the current contract status of the Brewers & FS Wisconsin (or whatever the new name is)?
  10. How optimistic are we that the Brewers even get a deal done with Sinclair in time to be able to watch Spring Training games and early season games? With the pandemic I now work from home on a permanent basis so looking forward to being able to watch day games
  11. They'll give Black another shot simply because he's quite possibly the hardest thrower in the system. The team will likely keep eight or nine relievers, and barring injury, five of those spots are likely spoken for with Hader, Williams, Suter, Peralta and Yardley. You have to think that Rasmussen and Topa are solid bets with good springs. Boxberger is going to be in competition with Black, Feyereisen, Wahl and Bickford. That will change even more if they decide that they need a 3rd lefty in the pen. Then Perdomo, Blaine Hardy, Hoby Milner, and Lauer (if he fails to make the rotation) come into play. And there's a complete wildcard in Jordan Zimmermann, who fits either as a back-end rotation guy or a long man if he shows enough in spring training. File and Bettinger are also on the 40-man roster, and will be given plenty of opportunity to see if they can contribute to the 2021 major league team at some point. Boxberger probably does stand a solid shot of making the MLB pen, but he's got a lot of competition, and is going to need to show well in spring training. The Bullpen battle is going to be really fun to watch this spring. Alot of good pitchers and then a couple really intruiging arms too
  12. I really prefer Shaw over Lamb. Lamb has been really bad the last few seasons. Shaw atleast showed a few signs of life last season. I think a Shaw/Robertson platoon could be fine at 3rd atleast until the deadline
  13. Yea. He might make the pen as the last guy or something but I wouldn't count on anything from him. His advanced numbers aren't great and we have good young arms like Rasmussen, Topa, Yardley to go with our established guys like Hader, Williams, & Suter. Plus the possibility of Freddy being in the pen. It's nice to add depth though and maybe he can turn into a David Phelps, Zach Duke, Blaine Boyer type of signing
  14. In the 3 hole so he'll have 2 good OBP guys in front of him, I would rather have a 3-0 game vs a 2-0 game. That's fine, and there is analytical debate about if your best hitter should be in the 2 or 3 hole, but it seems clear Counsell will bat Yelich 2nd considering that's what he's done a far majority of the time since we've had Yelich
  15. Why do you all believe it won't be Yelich in the two hole? That's where Counsell has pretty much always hit him in the 2 hole since he's been here
  16. Gyorko just doesn't make a ton of sense..he hits lefties really well but what we need is a lefty who can hit the strong side of a platoon
  17. Yep. I'm totally onboard to add another Starting pitcher, with our infield defense I'd really like Brett Anderson back as a heavy ground ball pitcher. But sign one to fill out our rotation and then you have guys like Layer, Peralta, Zimmerman, File, Bettinger, or maybe even Small ready to go for depth purposes when injuries hit
  18. When it comes to our lineup we're hoping for major bounce backs from guys like Hiura, Narvaez, Yelich, & Garcia, while also hoping Cain hasn't lost much of a step, and that either Arcia or Urias can break out. We have no sure things which is fine. Chances are some will bounce back or break out and others won't. As long as we pivot when inevitably a couple of guys show last year was who they are we should be fine(& Stearns & Counsell have always shown a willingness to move on in those situations). But this is also why we need solid depth behind our starters
  19. Yep. 100% agreed. There might not be any single dominant team but in order to win the World Series you need a high payroll. The only exception in recent memory is the Royals.
  20. I just think we need more depth for the left side of the infield. Even if you think Urias & Arcia are fine as starters(I'd prefer to upgrade from Arcia) our only depth behind them is Robertson & Mathias. I'd prefer to still sign a guy or two there.
  21. Let's go get Shaw & Gyorko to platoon at 3rd and sign Brett Anderson back to round out the rotation and call it an offseason
  22. He was never leaving LA. Curious to see what the final #s were on the deal
  23. If you want a guy who gets on base why would you choose Arcia over Urias? A guy with almost a .400 obp in the minors?
