  1. Considering he is going to 99% be on the major league team I would say so
  2. To be honest, the more this signing sinks in the more I like it. Average OBP guy with great power, should be a perfect fit in the 6 hole or lower in our lineup. and if Morris proves he's ready I can't see them keeping him down for the likes of Mark Reynolds. Plus we now have a premier power hitter on the bench in Francisco
  3. According to Tom H he has pretty much been assured of making the roster, now whether thats a platoon with Francisco or starting everyday is a different matter, granted would probably produce roughly the same results if you look at splits
  4. New Guess: As of right now I think our roster looks like this, Rotation: Gallardo, Lohse, Peralta, Estrada, Thornburg Bullpen: Henderson, Kintzler, Smith, Gorzelanny, Figaro, Hand, Rule V guy(could sub in guys like Wooten or Blazek for Figaro or Hand) Lineup: C-Lucroy 1B-Reynolds 2B-Gennett SS-Segura 3B-Ramirez LF-Davis CF-Gomez RF-Braun Bench: 2B-Weeks, C-Maldy, IF/OF-Bianchi/Herrera, OF-Schafer, 1B/3B-Francisco could sub Gindl in for Weeks possibly to if you'd like Actually not a bad bench honestly
  5. My new guess is Segura Gomez Braun Ramirez Lucroy Reynolds Davis Gennett and honestly that has to be one of the top ones in the NL, especially considering the power potential and the park we play in go really well together
  6. Also provides insurance In the case of a Ramirez injury. At this point what else was out there. Don't hate it don't love it
  7. Here's his blog post. You're right in the fact he seems super confident in his source. Still want to see someone else credible verify this though
  8. What exactly is the difference between Juan and Reynolds? and does anyone know if this guy is reliable at all or not? I went through some of his tweets and couldn't find much
  9. The Brewers have the rights to Morris for 6 years service time. If he starts the year and sticks it's year 1. In your scenario if we wait a little bit depending on the date he's called up it's 6years but Super 2 status could be attached to him meaning he gets an added year of arbitration, still the Brewers have him for 6years. They could wait til say end of June/ beginning of July to play him so that his service clock doesn't start fast enough to count the remainder of this year as year 1 meaning then they have control of him for 6more years beyond 2014. But the way I look at it, his age and the fact he didn't get the call up last Sept, are you really concerned about holding him down to remain controlled of Morris in 2021? vs. a FA that year? Because if that's your concern then clearly he's your best option for 1b today if he needs to be held on to for 7 more years. There shouldn't be a thought process to attempt to save Morris for age 32 after the Green/Gamel declines. What could be a useful season from Morris this year but instead wasted in the minors could turn out that next year the Gamel injuries take place with Morris and now you don't even get 1year from Morris. I understand holding back a kid for Team control reasons up to age 22/ maybe 23. But by age 24, if he's your best option to play at the ML level he needs to be played regardless of how it's sorted out in Team Control cost/Arb status. In my opinion, it depends on what the length of time you would have to keep him in the minors would be, if its only a week or two, then the brewers should try and gain that extra year of service time, if its 2 months or so than I have no problem with them bringing him up to play. Thats why I asked the question
  10. Morris is already 25 so in reality it doesn't really matter. There is just no reason to give 1B to Morris based on a few dozen spring training PAs. Spring training should really be incidental to the decision. If he is going up against Halton and Francisco, I would tell them all they were even and let them battle it out but thats me personally, I don't think either Halton or Francisco are good enough to just be handed the starting first basemen job
  11. This from Nick Cafardo: "Free agent Lyle Overbay is an option for both the Astros and Brewers at first base. Milwaukee is also still considering signing Michael Young for first, or trading for Mitch Moreland of the Rangers." http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/01/cafardo-on-red-sox-arroyo-drew-manny.html While I wouldn't be a huge fan of Overbay, I wouldn't mind making a move for Moreland, depending on cost of course
  12. Question about Morris: If he started the year with the major league team, wouldn't he likely lose a year of team control, so wouldn't it be smarter to wait like 2-4 weeks before bringing him up even if he kills in ST
  13. Not quite, if you go off of the deadspin vote Bonds & Clemens got almost 20% more of a vote by the fans
  14. these days do very well jerseywise and they are running out of nationalities (i think german is the only one of the sausages that hasn't had its day yet). we don't know if aoki will be back in 2015 so why not. Yeah, the Aoki shirsey with Japanese characters seems to sell well, with plenty worn by non-Asian fans. It is almost as if the Brewers are committing to Nori through at least June 29, though. Brewers replaced the Aoki bobble head with one of Scooter.
  15. Just curious, do you see the Brewers trading him or if it came down to it do you think they would just straight out release him? I am starting to get the sense that he won't be on the opening day roster one way or the other
  16. personally I would. I can't see Burgos ever becoming more than a 4/5 tops
  17. As of right now I think our roster looks like this, Rotation: Gallardo, Lohse, Peralta, Estrada, Thornburg Bullpen: Henderson, Kintzler, Smith, Gorzelanny, Figaro, Hand, Rule V guy(could sub in guys like Wooten or Blazek for Figaro or Hand) Lineup: C-Lucroy 1B-Francisco 2B-Gennett SS-Segura 3B-Ramirez LF-Davis CF-Gomez RF-Braun Bench: 2B-Weeks, C-Maldy, IF-Bianchi/Herrera, OF-Schafer, 1B/OF-Halton could sub Gindl in for Halton to if you'd like but as of right now I'm assuming a platoon of Halton and Francisco
  18. I personally love what Deadspin and LeBatard did, if you read his reasoning you realize it wasn't just to mess with the voting but to point out actual flaws in the system. LeBatard just jumped up a bunch in my book
  19. I still don't get why we didn't go after Carp last offseason when the Mariners were dealing him, especially since it was after all of our first base injuries.
  20. Kinda a weird idea but if Boston resigns Drew that means Bogaerts is going to third and no real place for Middlebrooks, I don't know what he would cost in players but if Milwaukee acquired him it would be a long term answer for third and they could move Aramis to first for a year until Morris or Rogers is ready, not sure if its realistic but trying to think outside the box a little bit
  21. No offense but wouldn't 1 and 2 make 5 extremely unlikely, and do you ever draft not young players?
  22. I agree with the post 2 posts up, This team can definitely compete, Obviously the Brewers couldn't have all the injuries they had last year, and they need the rotation to step up and for someone to solidify the 7th and 8th in front of Henderson. Those are the 3 key areas even with 1b right now being a Halton/Francisco platoon, as the lineup on paper should still be more than good enough.
  23. Is it possible we could add someone like Michael Young and Ike Davis, I think Young could get enough at bats as a super sub playing for Davis against tough lefties, giving Aram a day off here and there and maybe even covering at 2nd for awhile. Im intrigued by the idea of Young in that role.
  24. I don't think we have a topic for this yet, if I am wrong go ahead and lock this and I apologize. But I think right now we have a very interesting lineup that is tough to put players into specific places but if today were opening I would go Vs rhp: Segura Gennett Braun Ramirez Lucroy Gomez Davis Francisco Vs lhp: Segura Weeks Braun Ramirez Lucroy Gomez Davis Halton Although definitely not set in stone with that lineup
  25. 1. For us to stay healthy(relatively speaking) this season to see if we can actually be as good as we look on paper 2. Ryan Braun to go back to normal and help rebuild his rep 3. One of the young pitchers(Peralta, Hellweg, Thornburg, Nelson) to develop into a legit top of the rotation pitcher 4. To take someone at 12 with legit superstar upside 5. Sign Jean Segura to an extension
