  1. Mainly because Mitchell seemingly has benefitted from a lot of luck, the Projection systems are very down on him. That said if they wanted to send Frelick to AAA rather than Mitchell it doesn't make a large difference imo
  2. It seems weird to sometimes use 2023 numbers and sometimes use projections. Mitchell's projections are much lower than his 2023 numbers. Also Frelick really struggled last year against LHP so I'd rather start Yelich over him if a lefty has to play against LHP. My guess is we'll see Bauers/Sanchez in a DH platoon, Yelich start every day, & Frelick & Wiemer platoon with Mitchell heading to AAA until an injury occurs
  3. Yea depth is a good thing. Injuries will inevitably hit and we'll be glad we have capable replacements in the minors
  4. Sanchez seems to hit lefties pretty well. A Bauers/Sanchez platoon at DH seems like it would be fairly effective. Last years team was severely lacking in the power department and it seems the Brewers have somewhat remedied that with the Hoskins & Sanchez signings. This also would allow the Brewers to send whichever of Frelick or Mitchell is performing worse down to AAA until an injury occurs. Part of the reason the Brewers have been able to play consistent baseball these last few years is having depth and this helps that. They will mix & match based on specific matchups and that's fine.
  5. I'm wondering if the plan is to platoon Sanchez & Bauers at DH while Yelich stays in LF and one of Frelick or Mitchell goes back to AAA until an injury hits.
  6. You're forgetting Frelick
  7. Well they were able to flip Houser for a pitching prospect they liked while replacing him with a similar quality pitcher
  8. This is an interesting signing. Feels like the Brewers are throwing a whole bunch of spaghetti at the wall in the rotation and seeing what sticks. Freddy seems like the only lock to stick in the rotation all year(Miley too but I don't trust he'll stay healthy). Then you have guys like Rea, Junis, Hall, Gasser, Ashby, Ross, etc. Out of those 6 I could basically see any combination of 3 or 4 stepping up to become legitimate rotation pieces, but also any combination failing. It will be really interesting to see how it plays out
  9. Misiorowski is likely the highest upside long term. For this year I think seeing starts from Hall, Gasser, & Ashby are likely and then it's also possible we see Rodriguez & Misiorowski get a couple as well depending on injury/ineffectiveness from others. The rotation this year is a big question mark but should genuinely be fun
  10. Is a Mitchell/Wiemer platoon that much different projection wise then what you list at the #5 spot? Plus you get the added defense
  11. Rotation could be pretty exciting with guys like Hall, Gasser, & Ashby. Plus Longshots like Carlos Rodriguez & Misiorowski..
  12. Lol the Santana & Canha deals were good, signing Wade Miley last year was good. Acquiring Payamps, Peguero, & Megill last year really helped the bullpen. Honestly what moves has he made that ended up outright bad? Even the Wong for Winker deal just ended up trash for trash
  13. Trading 1 year of a player always brings back a lower return. The Brewers got 12 years of control on two top 100 prospects & a late 1st round pick. Having Burnes for next year would have been fun but for the long term health of the Brewers this is a good trade.
  14. Then they should officially honor Gantner. I don't care whether #17 is retired or not but to simultaneously not give it out but also not honor the guy is weird. Either honor Gantner or don't.
  15. The Packers do this exact same thing with the #1 & #5. If you aren't going to issue the number then honor that player officially and put their name on the wall. Otherwise that number should be fair game. Curly Lambeau, Paul Hornung, Jim Gantner, Ryan Braun, etc.
  16. When talking about a pitcher they can save an extra year of control by basically missing 2 or 3 starts so I'd be pretty surprised if he's up opening day, but I don't expect a long wait
  17. Idk if he starts the year in the rotation but I'd be surprised if Gasser doesn't get a bunch of starts this year. Burnes, Peralta, Miley, Rea, Gasser. With Ross, Ashby, & Carlos Rodriguez as potential fill ins for injury.
  18. If he comes cheap enough maybe but I wouldn't want to guarantee him a starting spot. If he signs to be the 1b then Hoskins goes to DH and Yelich to LF. So essentially Santana takes away ABs from some combination of Frelick, Mitchell, Wiemer and downgrades our OF defense
  19. Ok so Rhys isn't good but he's a clear step up from Rowdy basically?
  20. How is his defense? I've seen a couple people say its bad but his numbers don't look awful. I haven't watched a ton of Phillies games so maybe I'm missing something but he can't be as bad as Rowdy was right?
  21. No need to discuss this anymore, the mods stepped in and took care of it so that's all I can really ask for. Back to discussing Hoskins
