  1. Comparing Chourio to any Brewers prospect in recent memory is disingenuous. Chourio is a legitimate top 3 prospect in MLB and has done things similar to guys like Acuna, Soto, Tatis in the minors at an incredibly young age. Of course there is risk involved, nobody is doubting that. But the reward on a Chourio extension is worth the risk
  2. Sounds like Chourio isn't the 1st prospect we've tried this with
  3. Diamondbacks signed Corbin Carroll to a deal this past year after Carroll had been in the majors for 22 days. 8 years 111 million, with a club option that would raise it to 9 years 134 million. I'm guessing that's a rough baseline for what a Chourio deal could look like
  4. This would be awesome(and risky) but mainly awesome
  5. What's funny about the Wong/Winker trade too is that if Jared Carrabis(however you spell it) is to be believed Boston was interested in Wong but was only offering prospects and Mark A insisted on getting a win now piece back
  6. I do wonder if they are planning on Tyler Black playing 1b this year and Bauers either starts the year at 1b to save service time and/or just general depth to Black this year. I do agree this shows they were definitely low on Avina.
  7. Interesting viewpoint
  8. Yea this one I don't get. I see his underlying metrics are pretty good so maybe they think they can unlock something with him. He is out of options so he has to make the roster. How is his defense at 1b?
  9. Unfortunately the type of injury Woodruff has is very risky and so I'm not sure the Brewers signing him to a multi year deal and banking on him returning to form is the right way to go. If they can get any sort of halfway decent prospect for him they should probably trade as unfortunate as that is. A team like the Dodgers or Mets or whoever can more easily take that risk that we can
  10. Not to get political but it was passed with both bipartisan support and bipartisan opposition. The Dem leader giving his go ahead probably pushed a handful of legislators to three support side of things and without those they don't have enough votes
  11. Pat Murphy definitely knows how to handle the media, that was evident. And Rickie with one of the best introductory statements I've ever heard. It's only a press conference so I'm not going to read too much into it but I'm on board
  12. The idea that Counsell didn't stick up for players is a bit off base imo. He twice led NL Managers in ejections(2018 & 2020) and was also in the top 3 a few other years. He got ejected quite often That said I do expect Murphy will ejected even more and you can stand up for your players without getting ejected but the idea that Counsell was laid back towards umps doesn't really hold true
  13. Yea I don't really see the Owen Miller comp at all here
  14. Weeks with a pretty interesting title. Leads credence into the idea he's been groomed as the successor to Murphy
  15. The trade for Dunn is interesting. Was really solid at AA last season(21 HR, 16 SB, .396 OBP), also had a very good AFL. I have no idea what his defense is like but I wouldn't be shocked if he makes it to the Big leagues this year
  16. We have no idea what ideas or concepts Weeks has relayed in his time with the Front office. Counsell originally came from a front office background after his playing days and it's possible that Rickie has shown behind the scenes to be able to grasp things in a similar way that Counsell was. I think it's safe to assume he showed something within the organization to impress people. That certainly doesn't mean he'll succeed but there's like a reason he is getting this opportunity
  17. -In college as a Manager Murphy went 947-400-2. -As a manager in the minors he went 320-252 in 5 years -His 1 year as interim manager with the Padres he went 42-54 He has alot of experience and success as being the head guy in charge. Will this translate to success in the majors? Who knows
  18. Do we have old threads archived anywhere? I'd love to go back to the thread when we hired Counsell to see how we reacted back in 2015
  19. Rickie Weeks to be the bench coach
  20. This seems fine but uninspiring. I wanted two things from this hire, A guy who could implement the analytical data given to him by the Front office and someone who could establish and maintain a good clubhouse culture. It seems Murphy has as good of a chance as anybody at doing those two things
  21. Sounds like Espada will be the Astros Manager so cross him off the list
  22. Hogg reporting Murphy really is a serious candidate and the idea would be to pair him with a young bench coach and have Murphy groom that bench coach to be his successor
  23. I think the Brewers strategy as a whole is to take the most "bites at the apple" as possible, but that doesn't mean every year has to be a bite at that apple. They bit the last one down to the core and this season(and maybe 2025) is a walk back to the kitchen to get another apple. If they sell off right they could set themselves up for a very long sustained competitive window while only taking a 1 or 2 year stepback
