    I just love the fact that they think Morgan is a disgrace to the game and that Greinke was trash talking or whatever. It's so stupid. Morgan definitely gets the other teams going, but he plays the game hard and if he was a Cardinal they'd love him. Plus, it's amazing that they can just turn a blind eye to that punk of a catcher they have. First he berates and spits on an umpire and they don't care at all, then he does his little cry-baby routine (I think it's supposed to be that dumbass squirrel thing) and they don't care about that either. I mean, if you're going to hate on Morgan and beast mode at least find somewhere in your brain to process that your team does the same exact things. As far as Greinke, he said that the other guys on the team hate Carpenter, not him. And Carpenter does have a phony attitude on the mound. He tries to be tough, then when he's off the mound he's trying to explain things to his son. I hate the Cardinals, but I don't hate their fans....until I read dumb crap like I just read. Grow up and move on.

    I'm pretty sure we all think his attitude on the mound is phony as well. I just don't know how he's going to explain that to his son.

    I just absolutely love the fact that people continue to think they've won 100 games despite Roenicke and lost 68 games because of Roenicke. It's unbelievable. I mean we're honestly having people second guess moves that worked? C'mon people. No manager is perfect and I'm not sure what you're expecting. The team would be A LOT worse off if you guys were managing it.

    Yeah seriously. Wasn't too long ago in Boston, everyone of their teams stunk, especially the Red Sox. Now they think they belong in the post-season and if they aren't there it's a tragedy.

    Kennedy is good, but he's also stocked up wins on the dismal offenses of the NL West. The thing I mainly worry about is Gallardo, Greinke, Marcum, and even Wolf to a degree give up HR's, and Arizona is by far a HR hitting team. They remind me of the 2007 Brewers. Gallardo in particular gives up a lot of early HR's and that could hurt the Brewers psychi if they let it.

    I don't think you really have to be on a playoff team to win it, but Kemp's club was like 2 games over .500. Basically 10+ games out of first place the entire year. That will influence voters. Have to agree that the award is the most VALUABLE player, not the BEST player. Otherwise Braun or Fielder would have probably won it in years past with how good they've been.

    Yeah, like young guns said, it's supposed to be a rally (hence Brewers Playoff Rally), not a celebration. Basically a pep rally to send the team off.

    Unless McGehee has a huge post-season (if he even plays) I can't see him being on the team next year. Is he not arbitration eligible now? With his past performance he's looking at over a million, probably more like 3-5. That's way too much for a guy who's going to take home the crown for worse BA in the league (tough to do with Yuniesky Betancourt on the team as well). Sorry if I just don't buy into Casey long term, I never have. I saw this regression coming before 2010, and he proved me wrong. Then when we needed him most this year he's just been atrocious on all levels. I guess he should hurt his knee again because he played better with a sore knee. I would be very happy to not see him hitting weak grounders or striking out looking next season.

    I understand that's what the Marlins would want because they like Morrison's talent, but he's not even close to Braun or Gallardo IMO. He has potential, just not nearly as much as Gallardo and Braun have showed.

    I think what it really boils down to (barring a triple crown) is how can Kemp be the most valuable player of the entire league if his team is barely over .500? I know that it may or may not be all that fair but honestly that's what it comes down to. Take Braun off the Brewers and there's no way they go to the post-season, especially after Weeks injury. Your lineup would've been Morgan, Kotsay?, Hart, Fielder, McGehee, Betancourt, Hairston, Lucroy. Not winning many games with that.

    You all are entitled to your opinions, but there is a reason he has been rotting in the minors guys. And it's not because he's 'blocked'. What it truly is I don't know, only the Brewers do.

    kramnoj, you say all the negative reports are speculation. However all your positive opinions are speculation. It is odd that during his time with the Brewers there were no positive reports of his attitude, only negative. Either way it's a moot point, he's gone forever. As far as Heartbreak's viewpoint, the one scenario you didn't mention is if Lawrie doesn't become a superstar. I said it earlier in the thread, we all liked his bat and he appears to be off to a great start to a career, but he hasn't proved squat yet. Pitchers will adjust, and he will have to as well. He hasn't even played half a season yet, let's not crown the guy yet.

    Brwrs fan, in 2007 the played at Detroit (and got no hit) and at Texas. Not sure if it's happened since then.

    Gamel hasn't proved that he can slug or get on base at the MLB level so why would you risk the attitude problem for that? I like Gamel but it's been time for him to put up or shut up for a while and he hasn't done it, small opportunities or not.

    The only rationalization I can make is that Green hasn't been that great in his starts. His first start was good, and his PH's have been good but since that first start there hasn't been much. McGehee is just awful though and should not be playing, especially not batting 6th. But since you have Yuni who's also somehow getting playing time batting 7th then there's really no where to move the blackholes. Maybe we should bat Lucroy 6th, then the pitcher 7th, the McGehee and Betancourt.

    I just don't understand why a lot are saying this will free up money for a Pujols deal. How does spending 21 million save you money?

    I don't even understand why people are upset. He's been a talented prospect for almost 5 years now, and has opportunities to play the last 3 seasons. But he's 26 now, and he needs to get his act together if he ever hopes to be a good major leaguer. I think organizationally (at least the ones involved) they've soured on Gamel. He produces, but from all reports he just doesn't want to give it everything he's got to be a major leaguer, and succeed. I mean honestly, him at 3B was a prime example. He played there basically his whole minor league career and never once got better, always the same problems. Then he complained about being moved to the OF and 1B, when that was the best thing for him to be promoted. Obviously he's been pretty good this year, but it's just the sum of the parts not equaling the whole with Gamel. He produces offensively every year in the minors, but all things he does (or doesn't do) is what drives the Brewers crazy. It's just time for him to get his a** is gear. I still hope to see him at 1B next year if Prince walks, but who knows anymore.

    I know Lawrie is good, we all knew he was. I think everyone cringed a little bit when the Marcum deal was made, but at the end of the day this pennant chase would not be possible without him. However, did I miss the Lawrie in the HoF ceremony this year? I could've sworn his presence was absent, either that or it was a quick speech. Seriously though, Jays fans, and angry Brewers fans, stop proclaiming this guy as the second coming. Maybe he will make the HoF but not after 130 PA's. Also, reading those Jay's fans comments saying he's going to win gold gloves and he's the best defensive 3B they've ever had (they just had Scott Rolen two years ago) is just ridiculous. Again, maybe he will win a gold glove some day, but my goodness he's barely played two months worth of games. Let's just not get too far ahead of ourselves with Lawrie.

    I don't understand why my post was deleted? I basically did the exact same thing as Kegstand before he did. And I had the same intent-- this topic is worn out. We're all tired of the 90's, and the recovery period in the early 2000's. This is a different era, and we all need to move on. Sick of talking about it.

    I'm just not sure what everyone wants Roenicke to do. There really is not that great of options after Fielder. Hairston has to play 2B at the moment (and hasn't exactly been hitting great anyways) and likely won't even be able to play SS consistently at this point. Who knows. Lucroy has had a significant drop off in plate discipline and power, and even though McGehee has as well, he's batted 5th all of last year and pretty much all of this year now. I don't think switching McGehee and Lucroy would be all that beneficial to be honest. Betancourt basically has to play because your other options are Craig Counsell (barely hitting his weight) and Josh Wilson. Other than Taylor Green, who Roenicke has already played a bit, there's just not that great personnel to replace anyone with. I mean what is everyone's brilliant idea for the 5-8 spots in the lineup? Our bottom half just isn't good, that isn't Roenicke's fault.

    Honestly guys, just watch him. The hitting against LHP might indeed be flukey, but he has just been awful this year. He's slow, and his bat has slowed. He makes terrible contact, resulting in TONS of groundballs. That's why the BABIP is so low, not because of bad luck, because of weakly hit groundballs that he himself forces. His power is almost non-existent save for one game and he had one pretty good month with hitting and clutch hitting. And even that didn't improve his terrible season statistics by that much. And I know that having a better defensive SS would benefit McGehee (as it did in '09 and '10) but watching him play defense this year is just agonizing. He makes most of the routine plays (as in hit right at him) but he and Yuni combine for a ton of hits on the left side. They just can't get to almost every ball hit that way if it's not hit right at them. The defensive positioning has helped McGehee a bit this year, but at the end of the day he still just sucks. I personally didn't think McGehee was a perennial .290/20HR/100RBI but even I didn't imagine THIS much of a drop off. My biggest fears came true with the guy, and management is too in love with what he has done to realize what he is doing. And once Weeks went down, it really exposed how weak the Brewers are 5-9. Lucroy has lost all power and plate discipline, Betancourt had a good month but is back to being Betancourt, McGehee is as described, and normally whoever has filled in 2B just hasn't produced much of anything.

    I think regardless of peripherals, if Braun hits .330, gets to 30 HR, and gets to 100 RBI hes got it. That's also assuming the Brewers continue to play well and make the playoffs. If you take that big of a year, plus the runs scored, plus the OPS, and the SB then I just think the voters will go with him. Kemp is probably having the best year, and Fielder has been good enough to get it as well but Braun just does everything. And maybe his defense is bad, but the voters aren't sabermetricians

    It didn't help that the one time they wore them this year it was on WMLW, the king of low-def **** quality broadcasts. Not sure how many people were there in person, but they had to look better than on TV. Overall I just liked having something different. The old home retros and the standard dark blue/grey/white is just wearing on me.
