  1. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/3/3e/Abe_Simpson.png "When I was your age, we played baseball with a ROCK, and hit it with a stick. We didnt have any of this mamsy pamsy billion dollar stadiums and 5 dollar hotdogs. We wore our jerseys past the end of the game and into the locker and there were no female reporters in our locker rooms and WE LIKED IT!"
  2. I've been as big of a 'trade Prince' person as anyone, and I even think it's ludicrous to put those guys in the same league as Prince. I'm forgetting right now, but where did Kazmir finish in Cy Young voting last year? I had forgetten about the MVPs Francoeur has been netting. Barry Bonds has nothing on him, obviously. Not every rightfielder can put up a .750 career OPS like Francoeur (and still hold down a job)...that right there gets votes in my book over Prince. If the Brewers were to deal Prince (and they should), they better the equivalent of all the players combined that you have mentioned or I'll be disappointed in Melvin.
  3. I'd be all over that. Surely we have some extra hitting prospect stashed somewhere they might find interesting.
  4. With the state of the minor league prospects right now, the MLB club, and the pitching, everyone aside from Braun, Weeks, Kendall, and Cameron could be mentioned in a trade really.
  5. I don't think its fair to give Jack Z a negative for not being able to sign players like Jemile Weeks or Hunter Pence. You judge him on his drafts, not what the org was able to do with those players. I want to see how he would fare under Mark A, not the Seligs. Mark A would have signed these players I think. Also, I dont care if he whiffs on rounds 3- through 13. The bench and role players on major league teams are a dime a dozen compared to the allstar caliber players he has netted. If you can get Prince and Pence in a single draft, you've done very well.
  6. I think Suppan is still in no-trade clause territory for this year. If the Brewers trade him, they will likely be eating some of his salary, so I doubt he can net anything decent in return.
  7. well that certainly is surprising to hear that they feel Salome's defense is solid. Excellent news!
  8. my bad there..yeah it would make sense to bump him to AAA, though the org has made a big deal about the defensive work he gets in with Money. So many bats about big-league-ready that its hard not to think about it, aside from the defensive issues...
  9. Not just that, but Hart can move on the bases and Cameron is more power, so they should be switched anyways.
  10. I don't think we see Gamel this year unless its as DH. The Hall/Branyan platoon is off to a great start and there would be nowhere to put Branyan if Gamel came up. I don't see the team taking a chance in rushing his glove after the Braun/Weeks/Fielder defensive struggles. Escobar is going to be interesting. He could get the call, though I wonder if they would take a chance with JJ the way they treat him with kid gloves.
  11. well, despite never hitting more than 2 HRs, Escobar continues to gain momentum. That makes 6 on the season and raises his average to .322
  12. I'm still seeing references to "winning a bad NL Central", so I'll throw the topic out there at least. Right now the NL Central is giving the AL East a good run for the best in baseball. The Brewers are the only team with a losing record outside their division. 2 of the top 3 records in baseball right now are in the central. When do these teams all come back down to earth? Only the Brewers have been below expectations of all the teams.
  13. I once added an autographed Branyan baseball to my collection, but I came home one day and my entire collection was gone. All that was left was an autographed ball from Branyan, but it looked bigger than a softball. That night I came back from dinner and my dog was missing, but there was a pool of blood surrounding this huge baseball, so I had to get rid of it. Poor Clover, never heard from him again. True story.
  14. after watching Estrada butcher the position last year, it is really a pleasure watching Kendall in action. He is able to get to so many balls that most catchers can't get to. I am amazed every time someone bunts on him watching him fly out of his stance down the line to snag it. Also nice that we don't have to wait 10 minutes every time a ball grazes his facemask and that he can get to popups. As for the rest, we still hear pitchers commenting on his "gameplan" and how he "calls a great game". Kudos to this pickup... oh yeah, that and he leads the league in caught stealing.
  15. and a 3-hit night for Escobar raises that average to .317. Watch your back, JJ!
  16. from same article: . . . The biggest question about Brewers SS Alcides Escobar is whether he will hit enough to have value as a premium defender at shortstop. He hit .429/.452/.607 (12-for-28) with week with five runs, two doubles, a homer, two walks and two stolen bases in three attempts for Double-A Huntsville this week. On the year, the 21-year-old Venezuelan native is hitting an impressive .311/.347/.418 in 241 plate appearances . . .
  17. 1 Gamel - I thought the 2 were pretty close but hearing the Sounds radio guy talk about LaPorta and Gamel really swung my opinion. Gamel is more versatile defensively and it sounds like LaPorta has some holes in his swing. 2 LaPorta 3 Escobar 4 Jeffress 5 Salome 6 Lucroy 7 Braddock 8 Green 9 Brantley 10 Gillespie
  18. seems strange as I thought they were staying out of Appleton/Beloit partially because they wanted their pitchers playing in the south.
  19. a play at first and no pitcher gets injured..bonus!
  20. fans getting their money worth tonight! seriously entertaining
  21. what was braun waiting for on that popup?
  22. if all else were equal and I had a choice between trading him now or trading him at the deadline of his last year, I'd choose his last year. But I'm looking for a top-notch pitcher with a lot of similar value and contract..so I would trade him whenever the opportunity was there..
  23. you have a lot straw man arguments going on here. The discussion is on if the Brewers should trade him and you are the turning this into "all the fans are on his case, thinking he sucks and wanting to trade him this year". Those are your words and tidbits you've cobbled together from multiple places, not from this thread. The talk around trading him primarily is because he has tangible value due to his breakout year, because he isn't likely re-signable, because the team has a ton of depth, because he isnt versatile, and PRIMARILY because he can get us good pitching. If it were Laporta that had come to the bigs with Prince in the minors, I'd be saying the same thing about dumping Laporta. But Prince is the proven commodity, can net us more, and is less part of the long-term plan I think.
  24. it was definitely hit hard but could have been an out with a bad bounce. Fortunately it popped high in the air after hitting the mound
