  1. yeah i was just teasing him. I've been to movies alone (sometimes better that way), so I can't say anything about going to a brewers game. Driving from appleton alone? wow, thats hard core. I live there (darboy) and cant imagine doing that, good luck.
  2. I agree a chick can do it and be cool. If a guy does it, its just sad really.
  3. he said on sunday he expects to be ready
  4. wow at this rate both teams will need to use up another starter..loving this!
  5. going from very high end contacts (always latest & greatest) to LASIK was no comparison. I was floored at how much difference it made. Yes, I definitely think he will be able to see the ball MUCH better with LASIK than with contacts.
  6. definitely should boo him. He stabbed the Brewers in the back over peanuts. At least with Lee, he had reason to leave.
  7. as someone here mentioned, they prefer warmer climates for pitching health. Also, Beloit being close to Milwaukee is probably a negative and I think the main issue on record was that they refused to get a decent stadium.
  8. when does LaPorta need to be called up by? I was thinking he would replace Fielder. I would think Fielder could net some considerable pitching prospects. If not, I could see him in right and moving Hart to CF for a year or maybe two if need be, but it's not ideal.
  9. I see zero possibility of unloading Sheets at the deadline this year. They get 2 high comp picks for him next year if he walks. If healthy, he will be a huge part of their playoff possibilities. If injured, nobody would trade for him. The Crew would need to be about 20 games back to consider that. If I were the Crew, I'd take the 5 year, $80M deal. His injuries weren't severe. Why give Soup such a considerable contract if they were going to be too strapped to not afford to keep their ace? Why would LaPorta be expendable? Weeks and Fielder start to get more expensive..we still have 5+ years of LaPorta for cheap. Re-signing a heavy Fielder is every bit as risky as signing a 29-year old Sheets, and then you have deal with Boras, and you are blocking some talented hitters.
  10. I've never been in the "whatever it takes" crowd for any player, much less Sexson..I was disappointed they offered Lee so much and even the Coco offer I thought was excessive. The Brewers scouting department has shown an ability to identify and develop top-tier hitting talent, so any hitter is replaceable as far as I'm concerned. Can't pay Prince? Here comes LaPorta. I don't see the need to overpay Hart based on the same reasoning. Yes, he's a very solid piece of this team, but no need to throw a ton at him when they have prospects in the minors that can replace him. If the Crew was rich in top-tier pitching prospects, I wouldn't hesitate to dump him. Unfortunately, that's simply not the case. We have groomed and brought up our best pitching prospects for the next 2 years. There is no #1 waiting for his spot on the roster to open up.
  11. Prince is gonna cost maybe 10M more..the rest that are due for raises will be minimal. I agree the Crew need to find a way to get Soup off the books. Don't know if they can find a taker for his salary, but that would be huge if so.
  12. Is there any incentive for Fox to make it a good production? Don't they have a set long-term contract with the Crew? It seems like they are using the Crew to test using their lowest-tier of production. Bad producer, the slowest to get HD, poor announcers in general..is there any incentive on their part to perform any time soon?
  13. I most certainly didn't forget about Gallardo. I've followed him closely in the minors and he will be a great #2 and probably a poor #1 for a playoff team. I don't think Soup is a respectable #2.. maybe if they can dump his salary, they can pay for Sheets. How many SPs has this organization had with the kind of stuff Sheets throws?
  14. is it really possible for Gagne to be a Type A? Edit: I guess a 3.35 ERA wasnt so bad last year..should be possible
  15. With the Yankees history of getting veteran starters in their 3rd contracts backfiring, I wonder if they will stick with that strategy. Obviously the Yankees name will get thrown around for every free agent, but they can't have them all. If anyone can't afford an injury-risk, veteran starter in his 3rd contract, I'd put the Yankees up there. They have had too many injury risks on their roster already.
  16. I guess I feel 15M/yr is doable after seeing the contract offer for Cordero, as long as the length isn't too far. I would snatch it for 3 years..4 years is a little more iffy. But would I take a chance on Ben straight up over Cordero? Yes, you can replace a closer like Coco more easily.
  17. How much money do you think realistically will get thrown at him? Other teams see the same factors the Brewers see on health, so I don't think he will get outrageous money. He didn't get outrageous money last time and was a known commodity. The Crew showed a willingness to break the bank on good help with Cordero also.
  18. I guess I feel a little disagreement over keeping Sheets than the sentiment thrown around here. I don't think Fielder is long-term, primarily because of the talent coming in behind him and the type of coin he will get this contract. But I do think there is reason to keep Braun and Sheets. 1) It isn't like the Crew has a sure-fire ace waiting in the wings. They have prospects that might become a #2 or a #3. Jeffress has #1 potential, but is far away and not inspiring confidence with his actions yet. Sheets stuff is still the best in the organization when he is on. 2) Getting a top-tier ace is very tough to do. The Crew should be eligible for a hometown discount, and Sheets was willing to stick around last time. We have already seen what the Crew is willing to pay for a mediocre innings-eater in Suppan, why not pay for an ace in Sheets? 3) Sheets injuries have not been of the career-threatening variety. At just 29, he still has a lot of tread on the tires. Yes, he had drastically reduced innings the last 3 years, but he was a HUGE innings-eater before that. Even with all these injuries, he has still put up great numbers and he even won 12 games last year. A lot of good pitchers have bad years where they win 12 games, and the Crew didn't have to suffer through that. I guess I'm not sold on Sheets being gone yet. I don't think he'll be easily replaced and I think the Crew has spent more for much less.
  19. I'm not giving up on more years from Sheets. When he's on, he's as good as anyone in the league. His injuries haven't been career-threatening, so you have to believe he is capable of playing a while. If the Crew was willing to spend on Suppan, no reason not to spend on Sheets. A #1 pitcher is extremely difficult to replace, and I think the Crew should get a hometown discount. He eats up tons of innings when healthy, and even puts up respectable innings numbers otherwise.
  20. I'd like them to keep as many arms around AAA as possible. I have no confidence in the starting 5 lasting all season. Only Suppan has proven durable to date. If they can get good trade value for any of McClung, Turnbow, or Bush, then go for it. Otherwise, do your best to keep them all. I'm not down on Turnbow like others. Yost is just riding the hotter hands right now til they wear down.
  21. by "leaving early" I meant he could only go 5 1/3...I said I was retracting my jumping the gun on Yost, meaning I liked his moves. CV was putting out a ton of pitches, and yet they only used 3 arms today, with no designated "long man" yet.
  22. heading down from apple ton in a few minutes with my son to meet my brother, brother in law, & his son. Go Crew!
  23. I admit that perhaps I jumped the gun a bit on calling Yost out. If Torres is capable of being a long man, then the bullpen is in great shape right now, just using up Torres & Shouse today. The fact that used Shouse to face more than a single batter, and got by with 3 pitchers, when CV left early makes me think someone is giving Yost a few pointers.
  24. it's impressive to have 5 guys with saves for the Crew, especially considering they have 3 wins so far.
  25. I had no problems with Donnie Darko whatsoever..enjoyed it, but was pretty easy to figure out what was happening (from seeing a lot of movies with twisted plots I guess). The movies I have had the toughest time catching up to was: - Memento .. the ending really blew me away. Especially trying to understand that last image of him with the tattoo. Incredible movie. Agreed on Mulholland Drive and also would add Twin Peaks
