  1. The Brewers won’t do it but if there ever was a time to get into a bench clearing brawl, today is the day.
  2. Villar has basically zero surplus value, and i can't imagine they would trade Guerra now. I know Thames is a popular trade name thrown out here for us, but I would guess the Brewers look at him that way a lot less than we do. Trading a .900 OPS bat for lower level prospects is probably not the best thing for the offense right now. These guys could all be potential offseason sell candidates but very likely none would be moved before this deadline anyway. I agree it most likely won’t happen and I also know that I am in the minority for not going all in for this year. It was my hope even though realistically teams will indeed go all in when given any opportunity to do so. For me, I would use the rest of this season to try and right the ship for Santana and Arcia. Get Nelson and Davies back with the idea of building them back up in prep to lead the rotation next year. Sell of some attractive deadline pieces such as Thames, Guerra and Chacin (more so to open spots for others). Finish building the rotation, yet controlling innings this season for Peralta, Burnes and Woodruff. With this the Brewers could be in a spot to trade some of their remaining AAA and any of their great AA assets to go after controllable players (the likes of Realmuto or Thor) this off season. This could lead to a serious 3-4 year run of division titles... Again, this is just my hope and opinion.
  3. Such a bummer that three potential sell pieces are now on the DL so close to the deadline (Thames, Guerra and Villar). I was really hoping the Brewers could sell off some pieces and add to their lower levels of the system. This would help ease the burden with making another major off season trade.
  4. The Brewers poor play of late may have just rushed the Orioles into making a decision sooner rather than later. If the Brewers struggle out of the break, the Orioles will lose on of their potential top suitors for Machado. The longer they wait, the possibility exists that the Brewers could decide to stand pat or even become sellers themselves with inexpensive veterans having solid seasons (with the likes of Thames, Guerra, Chacin or Anderson). If the Brewers fall out of it, other offers may come down or at least remain the same. It would be wise for the Orioles to make the move before any of the other teams have a bad stretch as well.
  5. I saw this elsewhere and I figured I would post it to cheer everyone up... MLB teams that recently experienced 5-game losing streaks: 2018 Brewers 2017 Astros 2016 Cubs 2014 Giants 2012 Giants 2011 Cardinals The last 5 clubs on that list won the World Series. Not saying the Brewers are winning the World Series. Just saying, you know, baseball.

  7. This team is now 19- 19 since June 1st. That is 6 week sample size. To me, they need more to be true contenders but I actually hope they don’t go and buy big at the deadline. A part of me feels we will regret things next year if we part with Hiura, Burnes, Woodruff or Peralta. I say stay the course of the last few years and continue to build for a bigger day next year and have the opportunity of a 3 to 4 year championship run while we still have the likes of Cain, Yelich, Shaw and Aguilar. If the three young pitchers I mentioned all continue to grow and contribute, you then have some elite affordable arm talent to go along with Nelson, Davies, Anderson, Chacin, Guerra and Suter. You could even deal the likes of Thames, Guerra, Anderson and Chacin in the off season to help replenish the lower levels of the Minor league system and look to make another big trade similar to the Yelich deal this past off season with our glut of emerging AA prospects. I bet the Yankees are happy today that they didn’t deal the likes of Judge and Severino in previous years. Just my two cents.
  8. Kodi! Yes! Corey... Ugh...
  9. I would be mad at this if I was an Orioles fan. The guy is a free agent at the end of the year so there is no stopping him from ultimately ending up on a AL club. Baltimore is out of it this year so it’s not like he will hurt any chances there. They should just get the best deal possible even if it comes from NY or Boston. Plus you would weaken their farm system in the process...
  10. What would you need to see to believe it's true? They don't have a farm system where they can continually call up a Josh Hader. Short starts yes, but I don't think anyone believes that continuous four inning starts are going to cut it. You will (and they are) wear out the bull pen pretty quickly with that philosophy. I understand both sides of this however I believe it with be a Brewers philosophy to try to limit allowing starters from going through a lineup a 3rd time. It would seem like numbers go in favor of the hitter the 3rd time through. I honestly think this is why we have already seen some quicker than normal hooks this season for the starters. How this will ultimately play out with the bullpen is something we will find out.
  11. I know I am in the minority here but my prediction/hope is that they stay the course. I don’t want the Brewers to go all in until they know for sure this team is ready to compete in the post season. After tonight the Brewers will be something like 19-18 since June 1st (6 week sample). After the break they have home series against the Dodgers and Nationals before headed out west to play the Giants and Dodgers again. Those first 4 series will tell us a lot. If they continue to trend down towards .500, keep the prospects and maybe sell high on a few guys like Thames, Chacin and Guerra. All three of these guys are north of 30, having solid seasons and have favorable short term contracts.
  12. Agreed. With the way this is trending right now, I really hope the team stays the course at the deadline and doesn’t just throw away prospects.
  13. With the top of the order coming up, there should have been a run there. Except with Thames at the top of the order it is not a typical top of the order. He is a huge K risk and that experiment should really be over.
  14. After this, I have really bad feeling about the Pittsburgh series. Hopefully the Cubs continue to lose some games as well.
  15. With a player like Saladino having to hit 5th, I wouldn’t expect much from the offense unless 1 through 4 just go off. Hopefully we don’t have to burn the pen tonight while using a Sunday line up.
  16. This is the type of game that will come back to haunt a team at the end of the year.
  17. QTC gave up an earned run today... About as weak as an earned can get...
  18. What about Jon Olczak? Has some eye opening numbers this year out of the pen. I see he is already 24 years old but has solid numbers over his Minor league career to this point.
