  1. Devin made very few good pitches among his [checks notes]… 38 pitches that inning. Not a good outing by any measure.
  2. He gave Naquin a ball down the middle that should’ve ended up denting the Toyota Tundra high above the RF fence.
  3. Sort of an interesting decision to continue to roll with Devin in this situation.
  4. I may have taken for granted how easy Devin made 8th innings look in previous years. This is not a lot tougher to watch.
  5. Luis Castillo makes his season debut. As you might imagine he was fairly dominant in his two rehab appearances at Triple-A with a combined line of 8.0 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 5 BB, 12 SO. He went 3.2 IP in his first Triple-A rehab outing on April 29th, and 4.1 IP in his second on May 4th. I would assume the Reds have a strict pitch limit for Castillo today and would be a bit surprised if he lasted much beyond 5 innings. Brandon Woodruff tallied 12 strikeouts against this Reds team last Tuesday, can he be yet another Brewers starter to accomplish the double-digit strikeouts in back-to-back outings?
  6. I know the possibility of succeeding is minuscule, but I sort of wish Rowdy would make some sort of attempt on a dropped third strike when the ball ends up 12 feet away from the catcher.
  7. The Brewers face the Braves NLDS game one starter from last season, Charlie Morton. So far this season he’s experienced some struggles with slightly declining velocity and diminished command leading to poor results. Here’s the 38-year old’s game log thus far…
  8. Well that was a disappointing end. Brewers obviously missed opportunities to win this one tonight. On to tomorrow.
  9. Among the Braves hitters it’s been Dansby Swanson of all people that’s had the most success against Corbin Burnes, going 4-for-5 with 2 home runs in his limited times facing Corbin. Marcell Ozuna and Austin Riley have also previously hit home runs off Burnes. Andrew McCutchen is a known lefty masher, but that hasn’t been the case to this point against Braves southpaw Max Fried. For his career Cutch is just 2-for-15 (both hits were singles) with 6 strike outs against Fried.
  10. It’s amazing how far an organization that once had to push in all their chips to acquire pitchers like Sabathia, Greinke, and Marcum via trade has come in turning around their pitching development. Also, the Brewers are so deep in pitching depth they traded replaceable arms last season to acquire arguably their two best current hitters in Adames and Tellez.
  11. Eric Lauer being a dude significantly strengths an already top notch rotation. Also, this was a fun graphic from tonight…
  12. Last year Adames showed up in May to jump start the offense, is this year’s igniter the return of Luis Urias?
  13. Because the Gruber commercials every single break isn’t quite enough we now get between batters in-game One Call, That’s All reminders. EDIT: The Gruber jinx just struck.
  14. I’m so confused why they didn’t review that awful foul tip call against Urias. It was clear it never came anywhere near the bat.
  15. Well the Brewers are certainly figuring out how to manufacture runs this inning. Four runs with no ball making it out of the infield.
  16. The missed opportunities are starting stack up. Brewers are 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position.
  17. Yeah, he cost them a run but obviously made a nice play to get out of the inning.
  18. What in the world was Cain doing on that throw??
