  1. The Cardinals led the Mets 2-0 in the top of the 9th inning with two outs and nobody on. The Mets were down to their final strike, but Arenado made a throwing error on the would’ve been game ending toss across the diamond. The Mets now lead 5-2 after a glorious turn of events.
  2. Renfroe cost himself the walk by backing out of the box as the 3-0 pitch was coming. I’ll never understand why hitters do that. Of course he then swung at ball 5 on the next pitch.
  3. Yelich got a pretty awful jump on that one. Maybe he misread it due to the broken bat. It would’ve been a tough play regardless.
  4. Ok, gonna need two on and Rowdy to the plate in the 9th.
  5. Going to need to get someone on and send Rowdy to bat in the 9th. EDIT: Or Adames will tie it in the 8th.
  6. As much as last night felt like stealing one, this one is going to feel like it slipped away.
  7. Brewers pitching has now gone 21 straight scoreless innings.
  8. It appears Hader pitched three days in a row just once last season, June 11-13th.
  9. Since we got our run, figured it’s worth looking ahead.
  10. So who is considered unavailable out of the bullpen tonight? Devin? Hader?
  11. Be honest, how many players batting in the bottom half of the San Francisco’s lineup tonight would you’ve been able to correctly identify as Giants players prior to today?
  12. Brewers are home for one before heading back to Pennsylvania. The Giants announced they are pitching Sam Long as a spot starter. Long hasn’t thrown more than 31 pitches in his previous four appearances this season, so he’ll likely only go a couple innings in what should become a bullpen game for San Francisco. Credit to Giants thus far for sort of picking up where they left off last season. I don’t know if it’s the fancy hitting machines, their dozen plus coaches, or something else entirely, but they seem to be onto something. The only Brewers hitter that has previously faced Sam Long is Andrew McCutchen (0-for-3).
  13. Apparently not everyone believes Angel Hernandez’s ridiculously expanded zone is a bad thing…
  14. I can’t wait to see the Ump Scorecard for this one tomorrow.
  15. Well it was certainly a weird one tonight, but good to get out of Philly with a series win.
  16. The game is pretty much unwatchable at this point in large part to the home plate ump just guessing at balls and strikes.
  17. Angel Hernandez behind the plate in a nationally televised game may single handedly push the support for robo umps to an overwhelming level.
  18. LINK: Statcast Game Preview Reminder that today’s game is the nationally televised ESPN Sunday Night Baseball broadcast.
  19. If Rowdy and Renfroe heat up at the same time this lineup will have some good thump in the middle.
  20. That Biloxi lineup has a current major leaguer and three future major leaguers among it’s top four hitters tonight. Fun!
  21. Did anyone else catch that Realmuto appeared to be upset with Adames’ slide into home?
