  1. None! The Brewers shall prevail this evening! [sarcasm]I think you’ve mistaken this for the optimism thread. This is where we all wear hard hats because the sky is clearly falling.[/sarcasm]
  2. Smoak is in the last year of his contract and is making $8 million this season. I would assume the Brewers wouldn’t be interested in taking on the totality of his contract unless they were getting some salary relief in return (or the Blue Jays agreed to pay a portion).
  3. If they call anyone up to man 2B for just a week I think it’s more likely to be Jake Hager. I think once they ultimately call up Keston it will be with the intent for him to be a major leaguer for the foreseeable future. EDIT: Saladino was called up earlier today, so they are probably all set on the middle infield for the time being.
  4. Usually where there's Smoak, there's fire.

  6. It’s been 2.5 years since the Brewers last triple play, would be a good time to get another.
  7. They scored Braun’s botched attempt on Carpenter’s flyball as a double (as they probably should have per the scoring rules). That is a tough way for Barnes to get credited with a hit allowed.
  8. Coming into tonight the Cardinals have allowed more home runs per game than the Brewers. The Brewers have hit the 2nd most HRs and allowed the the 3rd most HRs per game in MLB. In addition to playing good teams it is possible the Brewers have played in some favorable offensive environments thus far. Not making excuses, and the pitching certainly has struggled, but there could be additional contributing factors as well.
  9. Did Arcia just injure himself on that terrible swing? Woah, that was ugly.
  10. Give Thames credit for working the walk as well. He proved an important baserunner there.
  11. I am more worried about Shaw than Aguilar. He is continuing to swing through so many hittable pitches.
  12. Coming into today the Brewers are allowing the 4th highest amount of scoring in the 1st inning across all of MLB. They are averaging 0.70 runs allowed in the 1st inning. The only teams worse are the Indians, Astros, and Mets. Hey look, just before I hit submit a double play to get out of the 1st!

  14. Petricka getting called back up Monday according to Robert Murray.
  15. Those are the similarities I was alluding to in terms of both becoming full-time starters at age 26. Nelson was prone to inconsistent command and struggled mightily at times. Take a look at Jimmy Nelson’s 2015 Game Log. Unfortunately Woodruff is likely to have several blow up outings just like Jimmy did early on.
  16. The pitcher versus batter results don’t appear to include the post-season. In the regular season both Braun and Yelich have hit Kershaw well for their careers. For your viewing pleasure here’s video of the bottom of the 3rd inning in game one of the NLCS: Also, since we are on a trip down memory lane (from Dan Plesac Tweet):

  19. I don't feel like I'm exaggerating here when I say that over the course of the past week, I've seen Travis Shaw swing right through about two dozen very hittable pitches. So hittable that the moment they left the pitchers' hands I saw Shaw gearing up as if he was going to knock it into the 2nd deck. Whiff. I have been more disappointed in Shaw than anyone because it does seem as though he is missing a lot of pitches he would normally make solid contact on. Don’t think he is seeing the ball well at all right now.
  20. At least if someone reaches in the 9th Yelich will have a chance to extend it (assuming the bullpen is able to hold the Dodgers scoreless in the top). EDIT: Admittedly a big assumption.
