  1. If they are bringing in Peralta I wonder if they will also double switch Shaw or Perez into the game for Schoop.
  2. He does, at least since he joined the Brewers. He is a good hitter when he is ahead in counts, but it has happened much over the past few months.
  3. I haven't read the thread, but I'm assuming it's more that Gio looks like butt so far than the fact he gave up one run that is worrying people. Exactly, whether he gave up zero, one, or three runs that inning it was clear he didn’t have command of his pitches. With the stakes this high it isn’t worth trotting him out there again and expecting different results.
  4. I hope they don’t mess around. Get Gio out of there. They have enough arms to cover the rest of the game.
  5. That has long been one of my least favorite (and least effective) strategies.
  6. Hopefully they don’t waste any time getting Gio out of there if this inning doesn’t go well.
  7. Good point. It’s exciting (and scary) to think that we are now just 24 hours away from one of three realities: 1) Brewers heading to the World Series; 2) Brewers on the verge of heading to the World Series coming back to Milwaukee to finish the series; 3) a BF.net implosion as we bemoan missed opportunities that have the Crew entering two must win games back at Miller Park.
  8. Oh, I forgot one... 5) Jonathan Schoop hits what turns out to be the game winning HR and throws shade at Manny as he passes second base.
  9. Anyone have “wild” predictions for tonight? Here are mine (maybe not so wild)... 1) This is the game where the top of the Brewers order comes alive. Cain, Yelich, Braun combine for 5+ hits. 2) Gio is pulled after the first time through the order. 3) The 8th and 9th innings are going to be stressful. 4) Brewers win, 5-4.
  10. The game hasn’t even started and Arcia already has another hit! They changed his line drive off Machado from an error to a base hit in the official scoring.
  11. [sarcasm]This! [/sarcasm] It would be a pretty great story line if he comes through with a big game on his birthday. I would have preferred Perez in his spot though.
  12. Mostly a very small sample, but the current Brewers hitters have had some career success against Rich Hill...
  13. I thought that would make sense as well, but I think the plan is going to be Gio for a short start, then some combination of Woodruff, Burnes, and maybe one of Guerra or Peralta in the middle innings followed by Hader for the last 2-3 innings once the Dodgers have flipped their lineup over against the righties (assuming a Brewers lead or a tie game).

  15. Counsell said multiple times, “we’re not just trying to win one game, we’re trying to win the series” when discussing Hader being removed. After Dave Roberts boasted so much about how big of an advantage it was not having to worry Hader on Saturday, I think Counsell saving Hader up four runs was absolutely the right call. I know it got hairy, and that wasn’t exactly fun, but now the Brewers hold the advantage in at least one of the next two days with Hader still available. Tomorrow if Woodruff or Burnes come in with a lead the Dodgers can’t completely swap their lineup with the threat of Hader looming. It is really a strategic advantage heading into tomorrow. If things don’t work out tomorrow you have a well rested Hader ready to go Wednesday.
