  1. And for good measure here is Fangraphs final last minute updates to their mock draft...
  2. Detroit Tigers officially on the clock. Below is Baseball America’s last mock updated in the past hour (click Spoiler). J.J. Cooper said they feel good about the first 10-12 picks.
  3. Okay, we are going to continue the live draft discussion at our 2018 Draft Pick Discussion, Rounds 1-5 thread. Please proceed to that link to discuss the draft tonight.
  4. Swaggerty? That’s a surprise. I think most mocks up to this point had him getting picked in the top 15, if not top 10. If Swaggerty lasts until #21 there are some teams doing this thing wrong.
  5. Yeah, I think that is the biggest concern/knock on Turang. Hopefully he would be able to add some weight/muscle similar to what Gavin Lux was able to do with a somewhat similar frame (Lux added the weight while still in HS though).
  6. I believe it is four minutes allotted for teams to make each pick in the first round (picks 1-30), and just one minute per team for each pick after that (picks 31-78). I am not sure how well they stick to those time frames, but it does always seem to keep up at a fairly good pace.
  7. On the Fangraphs "The Draft Episode" Podcast they mentioned that Mike Siani was the only player they purposely didn't include in their mock draft because they expect him to the be a very tough signing. Sounds like his "number" to forego his commitment to Virginia is quite high, so I would assume if the Brewers were seriously interested in him they would have to either take him with their first pick or else go significantly under-slot with their first pick and take him at one of their next two selections.
  8. The final Perfect Game Mock Draft is out and free to the public. It has the Brewers taking Oregon State OF Trevor Larnach. I wouldn't hate the pick, but I wouldn't love it either. I haven't seen enough of him to know (not to mention I'm not a scout anyway), and colbyjack did say some good things about him earlier in the thread. My concern is that he is destined to be a corner outfielder (or 1B) that is likely to be below average defensively. I also worry about his likelihood to carry a high strikeout rate. This is obviously just a guess on my part, but I could see Larnach's ceiling be something along the lines of a left handed hitting version of Domingo Santana. That isn't meant to be a knock on either player, I just don't know if that is the type of profile the Brewers are looking to add to the system. [sarcasm]Larnach did have elbow surgery a few years ago, so maybe the Brewers can prove that is the new market inefficiency![/sarcasm] Anyway, looking forward to the draft tonight!
  9. Some viewing details for this year’s MLB Draft. The MLB.com stream referenced below can be found at this LINK. Monday (today): Coverage begins with the Draft preview show on MLB Network and MLB.com at 5 p.m. CT. Live Draft coverage on MLB Network begins at 6 p.m. CT, with Round 1 and Competitive Balance Round A (picks 1-43) broadcast on MLB Network and streamed on MLB.com. Picks 44-78 (Round 2, Competitive Balance Round B and second-round compensation picks) will be streamed on MLB.com. Tuesday: MLB.com's coverage of Day 2 begins with a live Draft show at 11:30 a.m. CT and continues through Rounds 3-10. Wednesday: Coverage of Day 3 begins at 11 a.m. CT on MLB.com and continues through the end of the Draft (Rounds 11-40).
  10. Brewers connected to 6’-5” LHP Brandon Williamson a JUCO player at NIACC. Connection is mentioned in this article, NIACC's Willamson expected to go early in MLB Draft. Williamson is ranked the #90 draft prospect by MLB.com and #168 by Baseball America.
  11. It is such a fools errand, but I took a stab at mocking the draft through the first 35 picks...
  12. I think the Brewers end up with a High School position player with the first selection (although they may also go underslot with the first selection in order to afford some high school players in subsequent picks). I will guess someone from this group: OF Connor Scott, 1B Triston Casas, SS Brice Turang, OF Jordyn Adams, C Noah Naylor, OF Nick Schnell, 2B Xavier Edwards, OF Mike Siani I would be all for Brice Turang at #21. I think he’s going to have success in professional baseball. Plus, he’s already a natural at rocking the Brewers gear ...
  13. It isn’t over, but the Brewers really needed to scratch across more than one run when they had the bases loaded with the heart of the order up.
  14. Albers says... hold my beer, I’ll toss them three. Edit: with an assist from Cain.
  15. Unless they have a different angle this ain’t getting overturned.
  16. I thought Yelich might have a chance to throw out the runner at home, but then remembered it was Moncada running.
  17. Something brewing here with runners at first and third. Would be nice to convert to make up for yesterday’s early trouble converting.
  18. I've been getting quite a few error messages lately on this site too. They don't last a half hour though. Work needs to be done on here. Yes, the moderator staff is aware of the more frequent outage issues lately.
  19. Lively game thread today! Maybe I am the only one that didn’t make the trip south.
  20. File this as something I did not know, MLB draft prospect and Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray’s father Kevin was sued by the Brewers back in 1982. From this MLB.com article, QB or not QB: OU's Murray a top MLB Draft talent...
  21. There hasn't been a ton of buzz surrounding the Brewers being tied to various players this year, but here is one connection... The Brewers hosted their pre-draft workout at Miller Park last Thursday. One top draft prospect in attendance was Pennsylvania HS outfielder Mike Siani. Penn Charter's Mike Siani calmly awaits Major League Baseball draft Siani has primarily been ranked in the #35-55 range among various outlets providing draft coverage.
  22. The Brewers face RHP Dylan Covey, the player they drafted 14th overall in the 2010 first round. As you likely remember, the righthander was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in his post-draft physical examination and the Brewers lowered their financial offer to the slot value for the pick. Covey ultimately chose to attend the University of San Diego and was drafted in the 4th round in 2013. Here is a good article on the topic from JS Online which includes quotes from Dylan Covey: Eight years later, Dylan Covey will start against the Brewers team that drafted him
