Their bench is very short. Thames out already, Braun and Pina hurt. Is Sogard the only “available” position player left on the bench today, or am I missing someone?
Can you imagine if your team traded away Noah Syndergaard for a 38 year old knuckleball pitcher (granted a good one)? Hindsight is 20/20, but that doesn’t make it any less painful, IMO.
Syndergaard (29 pitches) and Chacín (28 pitches) combined for 57 pitches in a first inning that took over 30 minutes to play. It’s going to be a long game today.
One thing that has always amazed me is that the NBA playoffs stretch almost two full months. The playoffs start today, but will still be going on into mid-June. I will be watching the Brewers game in its entirety today, but then again I am not sure if I would watch the Bucks in an NBA Finals game over a Brewers regular season game.
Great outings by both Chase Anderson and Josh Hader tonight. I can’t believe that was only the Mets second loss of the season. Winning is so much more fun.
I may be wrong but I also believe the velocity didn't come until May or so last year. He did improve his velocity as the season progressed last year, but his four-seamer is averaging one mph slower this April as compared to last April (92.97 mph in April 2017 vs. 92.03 mph in April 2018).
Last May and June Eric Sogard hit 44-for-130 (.339) with 12 doubles and 3 HRs. Since July of last year Eric Sogard has hit 29-for-146 (.198) with 6 doubles, 1 triple, and 0 HRs. There really doesn’t appear to be any good excuse for having him batting 6th in a major league lineup.
Wow, I thought Shaw’s hit was going to be a no doubter home run and thought Villar’s home run was going to be well foul. Strange start, but I’ll take it!
Current Brewers hitter haven’t had much previous experience against Harvey. Yelich (who is obviously still on the DL) has nearly half the at-bats versus the Dark Knight. The batters in tonght’s lineup are a combined 5-for-20 with a double, HR, 7 BB, and 6 SO against Harvey.
Aside from the pitcher spot the Mets have the same exact lineup they had last night which made me think, have the Brewers gone two days in a row this season with the same lineup? I am pretty certain the answer is no, but not 100% sure.
