  1. I’ve noticed those expressions and grimaces as well. To this point I haven’t been able to decipher if he is legitimately “banged up” or if it is more so just a personality characteristic.
  2. It was a marketing email blast from Brewers.com (very different than the emails sent by the ticket reps) which included the above text along with photos followed by news links, promotions links, the upcoming home games with “buy tickets” links, links to apps such as the MLB Ballpark app, the MLB At-Bat app, and the MLB.tv app. Then there were a bunch more stories and promotions linked from Brewers.com and it all culminated with a Brewers Trivia Question: “With his home run Wednesday as a center fielder, Hernan Perez has now hit homers at every defensive position other than first base, catcher, and pitcher. Only one other Brewer has homered at six or more defensive positions. Who was that player? A. B.J. Surhoff B. Paul Molitor C. Bill Hall D. Bill Spiers” Answer: I have an email account that I use for my Brewers tickets which is different than the one used for my MLB.com account (account for the MLB At-Bat, Ballpark, and MLB.tv apps). This email went to the account associated with my MLB.com account. I also get constant Brewers merchandise emails to that account, so clearly I didn’t unclick the proper boxes at some point long ago.
  3. Domingo Santana may be next in the line of outfield injuries per Adam McCalvy...
  4. The losses just seem so much more painful this season. The 5th inning was indeed a disaster.
  5. Blevins has struggled some with his command in his earlier outings this year, hopefully Sogard can draw a walk here. Edit: Or a hit would work just fine, too.
  6. Well we are guaranteed to improve our per game run average tonight!
  7. Yeah, the 5th inning not going well with Davies back on the mound was about as predictable of an outcome as I can remember in a while. It was so obvious he didn’t have it tonight.
  8. Well that play (outfield collision) kind of nicely sums up the season so far.
  9. We obviously have to get more than 4 innings out of our starting pitcher to start this series, but sending Davies back out next inning to face the top of their order a third time seems like playing with fire tonight.
  10. Regarding the offense... the bad news is they have struggled thus far and are averaging just 3.38 runs per game coming into tonight, only 7 teams have been worse. The good news is the next three series are against even worse run scoring offenses including the worst, #27 Miami (3.25/gm), #28 Cincinnati (3.17/gm), #30 Kansas City (2.91/gm).
  11. Good catch. We are using the blurbs from MLB.com's game previews, and unfortunately it isn't the first time I have noticed a mistake. We will keep using them, but hopefully their attention to detail improves.

  13. The Brewers have signed minor league first baseman Fernando Perez. The 24-year old Perez was originally drafted by the Padres in the 3rd round back in 2012, but was released by San Diego at the end of March. He played 63 games at Double-A last season.
  14. I've watched video of two of his extra base hits and they were badly misplayed by the outfielders. Trust me, I want him to succeed but am tempering my enthusiasm for a while. I am rooting for Corey Ray to show offensive improvement this season, that would be an encouraging boost to the system. However, even with the hot start in this small sample his strikeout rate currently sits at 30% so far this season. In over 500 plate appearances at High-A last season his strikeout rate was also 31%. That is the biggest area where I would like to see him improve. One of his issues last season appeared to be an inability to catch up to fastballs on the outer half of the plate, so hopefully he has made some swing adjustments in that regard as well. I will be encouraged this year if Ray is able to put the ball in play more often and cut his strikeout rate down below 25%.
  15. The Cardinals-Brewers game on Wednesday, May 30th (Noon start) will be a Facebook exclusive game. It appears they will broadcast an MLB game every week at least through end of the May.
  16. As noted in the past couple of Link Reports, Hiura hasn’t played since Sunday. Below is a screenshot of the game summary from his last at-bat in the second game of a doubleheader on Sunday. It notes “injury delay”, but doesn’t offer any other specifics. Hiura was the DH and his spot in the order didn’t come up again in this 7-inning game, so it is hard to say if he was “pulled” from the game. If anyone has any additional information please feel free to share. Edit: I went back and watched this at-bat and there wasn’t any injury delay whatsoever as far as I can tell. Hiura did walk off the field lightly swinging his left arm and moving his fingers a bit, but with no obvious discomfort. He had been hit by a pitch to the shoulder in the first game. Anyway, the mystery continues.

  19. It seems slightly concerning that Keston Hiura has been out of the Carolina lineup on consecutive days, no?
  20. I don’t like where the Drake experience appears headed here.
  21. Not sure if this is the same thing you are referring to, but MLB.com did that exercise earlier this off-season and it was discussed in a segment on MLB Network. Lewis Brinson was the player selected for the Brewers, and Christian Yelich was selected for the Marlins. The selections were a mixture of realistic future HoF candidates and complete stabs in the dark. Here is the article: Who's the most likely Hall of Famer on each team's current roster?
  22. It is a smart play by Wong, but if the Brewers would have done that against the La Russa led Cardinals there would have been hell to pay in beanball retribution.

  25. Looks like Cain is getting pulled here. So much for our surplus of outfielders.
