  1. I kind of like that the Brewers are going to be the team to end their winning streak, even if it’s a week later than I would’ve liked.
  2. If a small blue wristband on Williams’ glove hand bothers hitters then no wonder the Mets can’t hit, they’re looking at the wrong thing!
  3. Did Willie stop before crossing the plate to make sure Kolton had touched home? That's what it looked like on the replay. Yes, he was making sure Kolton came back and touched the plate before he touched it.
  4. Wow, Wong missed a 2-run home run by a literal foot. Second time this week he just barely missed a would’ve been enormous HR.
  5. Does it make anyone else nervous seeing Lauer as a pinch runner? As much as I’d like to win this game, definitely would prefer not to take any unnecessary risks with Lauer right before the playoffs.
  6. Well, at least the Brewers are still leading. I wouldn’t bet on 5-4 being the final score to this one.
  7. After the strikeout I was optimistic Brent Suter would slam the door on this scoring opportunity. Hopefully they can still get out of this clinging to the lead.
  8. For those at the game today are they indeed showing the Cubs-Cardinals score on the outfield scoreboard? I assume they would, but thought it was an interesting question that came up yesterday.
  9. Goldschmidt on a heck of a tear lately. Another home run to put the Cardinals up early.
  10. Below is a snapshot of the NL Division races with a week to go. Giants lead Dodgers by 2.0 games. Giants remaining schedule: 1 game at Rockies 3 games against Dbacks (at home) 3 games against Padres (at home) Dodgers remaining schedule: 1 game at Dbacks 3 games against Padres (at home) 3 games against Brewers (at home) Braves lead Phillies by 1.5 games. Braves remaining schedule: 1 game at Padres 3 games against Phillies (at home) 3 games against Mets (at home) 1 game against Rockies (at home) on Monday, Oct. 4 if necessary Phillies remaining schedule: 1 game against Pirates (at home) 3 games at Braves 3 games at Marlins
  11. The Brewers can clinch the NL Central division crown with a win today. Today’s game is on TBS, in addition to being on Bally Sports Wisconsin. I am not sure why the game is on TBS, but I am assuming it has something to do with preparation for their upcoming playoff coverage.

  13. Attanasio isn't wrong, but I think the "he's under contract" line is weak. Stearns will either stay or go depending on factors important to him. Does he like it here? Does his wife like it here? Would he kick himself later if he never seized the opportunity to lead the Mets? How hamstrung does he feel living with a small market budget? How is Mark A as a boss? How much money would Cohen pay? Being "under contract" doesn't much matter if someone is miserable where they are at. Stearns doesn't seem miserable, but he's in demand, and he'd be crazy to not consider what else is out there. Over the long-term I agree with you, but for at least the duration of his current contract (believed to be through the 2022 season) it really does matter that he’s under contract. Unlike most businesses, requests to interview rival MLB team execs must go through the league office. Unless the Mets job is a clear promotion (in terms of title and responsibility, not money), it’s my understanding Attanasio can again decline to allow the Mets to interview Stearns. As I mentioned earlier, since Stearns already has a President title, I think the Mets would have to get really creative such as including a minority ownership share to be able to interview Stearns before the end of his current deal.
  14. Alright, nice play by Adames on sort of a weird hop.
  15. Boxberger enters this game just 2.1 IP shy of his career high for innings in a season. His career high of 64.2 IP was back in 2014.
