  1. It’s my understanding that the Brewers can continue to decline giving the Mets permission to interview Stearns until the end of his current reported contract status (through the 2022 season) unless the Mets job is a clear promotion. Since Stearns is already a President of Baseball Operations I believe the only way the Mets could accomplish that is to include a minority ownership stake with the role. Requests to interview high level executives go through the league office, and so teams are able to decline interviews of their internal executives for lateral moves [by title].
  2. The Pirates were going for the sweep against the Marlins today. They scored 2 runs in the top of the 9th inning to take a one run lead. They gave up a run in the bottom of the inning to tie it, and again took the lead in extra innings in the top of the 10th. The Marlins just hit a walk-off home run to win it. Why is this interesting… The Pirates were trying for their first sweep of the season. They are the only MLB team this season without a sweep. They are now 0-for-15 in games that were sweep opportunities this season. That’s an MLB record for futility in a single season.
  3. Yes… or at least he has played in the outfield previously in his professional career.
  4. I actually used to be [mildly] opposed to the automated strike zone, but I’m more than ready now.
  5. So do we think the Braves or the Phillies would be a better NLDS matchup for the Crew?
  6. Yeah and then they'll ride that wave to another championship, beating the Brewers in the NLCS just like 2011. That 2011 Cardinals team seemed a lot better than their 2021 version. They’re on a nice winning streak right now, but just over a week ago they were basically a .500 team. I would be ecstatic if the only thing that stood between the Brewers and the World Series was this Cardinals team.
  7. Brewers had a lot of at bats with the bases loaded on Friday. Hopefully they can come through here early.
  8. Yes, he continues to look awful, but Fernando Tatis Jr. is playing CF and dropped a routine pop up to CF with the bases loaded and no outs. It’s now 5-0 with just one out recorded in the 1st inning.
  9. Burnes pitches in one of the most home run friendly parks, but not exactly hitter friendly the past several years. Even with all of the home runs the park has played slightly below average overall offensively the past few years. That being said, Burnes significantly limiting home runs this season has been impressive.
  10. Regardless of today’s outcome the Brewers will finish the season in the lead over the Cubs in the all-time series. The Brewers have the all-time advantage, 200-197 entering today.
  11. The Brewers enter the final season series game with the Cubs holding a 15-3 advantage and having won 11 straight. According to McCalvy the only other time in franchise history the Brewers have won 15 games against a division opponent in a season was 2019 when they went 15-4 against the Pirates. Cubs starter Adrian Sampson has appeared in 7 games for the Cubs over the past month, and started 3 of those. Sampson has gone 5.0 IP in his last two starts, throwing 70 and 72 pitches in those outings. Over his 21.1 IP with the Cubs Sampson has a 2.53 ERA, but a 5.97 FIP. The Brewers hitter with the most success against him is Jackie Bradley, Jr. who is 2-for-3 with two home runs and a walk against Sampson. The current Cubs hitters only have 9 combined at bats against Lauer, and have gone 0-for-9 with 5 K and 0 BB.

  13. I was just thinking of Arcia. He knocked in the winning run on opening day and I was wondering if he’d receive a ring if the Brewers win the whole thing.
  14. This place is on my bucket list if I ever make it to Ottawa…
  15. Well it didn’t look like the Brewers were going to do much celebrating. The team account just Tweeted this…
  16. Sit down Contreras, you’ve been barking about good strike calls for two days. You’d think a catcher would have better zone recognition.
  17. I think this was brought up in the magic number thread, but if they clinch a playoff spot tonight is there going to be any sort of celebration? I know the division championship is the true prize, but I assume they’ll acknowledge it somehow.
  18. He played CF in 11 MLB games in 2019. Only 5 were starts in CF. He played 70 games in CF in the minors for nearly 550 innings of experience in center.
  19. Cardinals 2-run HR from Tyler O’Neill to take a 3-2 lead in the 8th inning. Also, the Padres (Tatis Jr. and Machado) were yelling at each other in the dugout an inning earlier.
