  1. If it is indeed Allard, the Braves got a good one, IMO.
  2. Thought Trenton Clark would be off the board by this point, he is BPA according to BA and Fangraphs, but I didn't spend much effort watching his scouting videos.
  3. Seems like a nice break for the Reds having Stephenson fall to them at 11. Really thought that would be the Phillies pick.
  4. I bet the Braves take him. I think he ends up an Astro, but I guess neither team would be a shock.
  5. Well the Daz Cameron slide rumors to a $5 million pay day may indeed have legs.
  6. I'm watching this livestream as an audio-alternative, though it's on a slight delay: https://www.periscope.tv/w/aEYVMTI4MDIzNDV8MjAzMjEwNjGE0QOWRYDYopsZhg1jqaYO8s-HX3x4Y7Y5Caegl0K59w== I was just going to say this would be a perfect event to utilize Periscope, didn't realize BA was doing one.
  7. I agree, hope they take a chance on upside tonight. Let the Ray Montgomery draft era begin.
  8. Last year we used the Draft Pick Discussion threads that are pinned to the top of the page for "In-Draft Discussion". Assume the same again this year? Also, couldn't agree more on Harold Reynolds, he is going to make every player sound like they will be ready for big league action by this year's trade deadline. It's all marketing baby, that's why the scouting reports from mlb.com have typically been on the side of "the absolute best case"... MLB has a vested interest in making every fan love their draft picks, which is why I haven't historically used MLB for much prospect wise. I guess a good rule of thumb is if they DON'T compare your draft pick to a former Hall of Famer then they think you made a bad pick.

  10. Yes, Nick Faleris (a former BP prospect writer) says the Brewers might be going all-in on one pick. Things could get very interesting over the next couple of hours.
  11. I would be happy to add Chris Betts to the organization, from what I have seen he appears to have a keen eye at the plate with an excellent combination of hit tool and power.
  12. After lots of speculation and conversations with their industry sources, here are the FINAL mock drafts for baseball writers Kiley McDaniel, John Manual, Jim Callis, and Jonathan Mayo.
  13. LINK: Another article referencing Garrett Whitley's visit to Milwaukee this past Friday.
  14. LINK: Another article linking the Brewers to the aforementioned Kolton Kendrick.
  15. LINK: Chippewa Falls native and University of Kentucky RHP Kyle Cody (Baseball America's 76th ranked draft prospect) would be happy to end up with the hometown team...
  16. From Madison.com, Brewers: Speculation has Milwaukee targeting college pitchers in the draft includes quotes from Amateur Scouting Director Ray Montgomery and Perfect Game's Patrick Ebert (also a BF.net contributor).
  17. LINK: Texas high school RHP Justin Maese mentions the Brewers as one of four teams that have shown the most interest over the past few months. Maese who mentions in the article he hopes to go in the first couple rounds, ranks 134th on the BA 500 and has a college commitment to Texas Tech.
  18. Interesting TWEET from Fangraphs writer Kiley McDaniel...
  19. There was some discussion in this thread back in February that the Astros may have some trouble working out agreements with top prospects advised by Casey Close (Excel Agency), who represented both Brady Aiken and Jacob Nix during their fallout with the Astros last year. This year Close and his agency represent several top ranked draft prospects, including Dansby Swanson and Brendan Rodgers, but according to Astros GM Jeff Luhnow in this ARTICLE, there will not be any hold up on working with Close and his clients. I have quoted the most relevant part of the article here:
  20. LINK: Confirmation of another player who worked out at Miller Park last week, St. Cloud State Senior Catcher Michael Jurgella, a Division II second team All-Amercian and a former Stevens Point Pacelli High School standout.
  21. Yep, here is the Baseball America Report.
  22. [sarcasm]Just as long as the Twins don't also ask for SS Arcia for OF Arcia.[/sarcasm]
  23. Since it is included as free content in part of the preview window for the Perfect Game's MLB Draft Reports: 1-500, I thought it would be worth sharing this thorough scouting report on Bishop. Also, a good reminder of the great content provided by folks like our friend colbyjack and the Perfect Game staff, and why I have added a subscription to my b-day wish list!
  24. LINK: Louisiana high school first baseman Kolton Kendrick recently worked out for a handful of teams in Philadelphia including Brewers scouts. Kendrick is the 62nd ranked overall draft prospect in the BA 500.
