  1. Adrian Houser: Batter (Twins) vs Pitching Stats Statcast Game Preview for Twins-Brewers Statcast Game Feed for Twins-Brewers
  2. Brian Gorman doing his best effort to garner support for robot umps.
  3. One thing I’ve learned in 2021 is that umpires don’t seem to have a very consistent handle on what constitutes the baseline running lane.
  4. The Twins have two lefty starters lined up for the first two games of this series. In the case of Albers he’s another player the Brewers originally drafted (12th round in 2004 out of a Canadian high school), but didn’t sign. Albers, who will turn 36 in October, has pitched 1,437 professional innings including in MiLB, KBO, and NPB. Only 125 of those career innings have come in MLB to date.
  5. Eric Lauer: Batter (Twins) vs Pitching Stats Andrew Albers: Batter (Brewers) vs Pitching Stats Statcast Game Preview for Twins-Brewers Statcast Game Feed for Twins-Brewers
  6. I’m going to make the uncanniest of predictions… today will be known as the JBJ game. I have a strange feeling he’s going to make some valuable contributions today.
  7. I’ve been hoping the Brewers would enter their final series of the season in LA versus the Dodgers playing meaningless games. While that is looking pretty likely at the moment from the Brewers perspective, it will be interesting if that series decides whether or not the Dodgers win the division or play in the wild card game. Not that I necessarily expect that to change how the Brewers would approach that scenario, but it would be sort of interesting if they have an opportunity to land a direct blow to the Dodgers World Series chances even before the playoffs begin.
  8. Brett Anderson: Batter (Reds) vs Pitching Stats Sonny Gray: Batter (Brewers) vs Pitching Stats Statcast Game Preview for Reds-Brewers Statcast Game Feed for Reds-Brewers
  9. The Padres and Dodgers played the longest game since the inception of the extra inning runner on second rule. The game went 16 innings and the Padres managed just 4 hits total. Their only extra base hit of the game came in the 15th on a Fernando Tatis home run. I know they got no hit recently, but playing a game for nearly 6 hours (5:49) and managing just four hits would seem almost as frustrating.
  10. Yeah, at this point I think Reds fans are going to be following a lot more Padres games than Brewers games over the next 5 weeks.
  11. I was just about to say I’m getting greedy and want to see the shutout… oh well.
  12. Would’ve liked to see them make Castillo at least throw a few more pitches that inning. He’s now setup to possibly last two more innings.
  13. Brandon Woodruff: Batter (Reds) vs Pitching Stats Luis Castillo: Batter (Brewers) vs Pitching Stats Statcast Game Preview for Reds-Brewers Statcast Game Feed for Reds-Brewers
  14. If we end up with a Reds-Dodgers matchup in the Wild Card I sort of wonder if the Reds will use multiple starting pitchers (among Mahle, Miley, Castillo, Gray) in the game. There seems to be such a large drop off between their starting pitching and their bullpen that I wouldn’t blame them for going all hands on deck with their starters.
  15. I love that he’s playing at such a high level for the Brewers this season. That’s gotta be just killing the Cardinals diehards.
  16. I still can’t believe the Reds just gave away Raisel Iglesias this past off-season, but I’m sure glad they did.
  17. Yeah, and he’s someone the Reds desperately need in their bullpen. He’s been a fun development success story, unfortunate with the injuries.
