  1. I am curious to see the return since the White Sox farm system is, uh… not good.
  2. I really like Berrios, but one thing that would make me nervous about paying such a high prospect cost for someone with 1.5 years of control is the fact there is looming labor strife that could very possibly impact at least a portion of next season.
  3. Via Jeff Passan: The Chicago White Sox are finalizing a deal to acquire closer Craig Kimbrel from the Chicago Cubs, sources tell ESPN. The Cubs Bleacher Nation guy actually first broke the trade news (Link).
  4. One thing that’s mildly ironic is Trea Turner was involved in A.J. Preller’s first trade as Padres GM in December of 2014. Preller came in making a whirlwind of trades, and in the case of Turner he had to be a PTBNL because he had just been drafted in the 1st round (13th overall) in that previous June’s MLB Draft. Obviously Turner now in the midst of a career year will be playing for the Padres biggest rival.
  5. From Jon Morosi… Source: Rangers discussing Kyle Gibson with multiple teams as of this morning. The Padres are considering him if they don't acquire José Berríos from Twins. Chances are increasing that Gibson is dealt by 4 pm ET.
  6. From Mark Feinsand… Per sources, the Rockies have no plans to trade either Jon Gray or Daniel Bard today. Trevor Story is obviously still the big key to their Deadline day. The Rockies have been trying to extend Jon Gray, per sources. If no deal is reached, one possibility is Colorado giving Gray a Qualifying Offer after the season; the salary would be high, but a one-year deal for a solid starter is never a bad thing for a team.
  7. I don't know, I get the feeling they may be done. At least as far as anything real impactful goes that would cost any of the real familiar prospects. Maybe a bullpen arm today...MAYBE. This is David Stearns 6th trade deadline with the Brewers. He’s made at least one trade on deadline day in each of his previous 5 seasons. They’re making trades today.
  8. Happy Trade Deadline Day everyone! The official deadline is 3:00pm central time this afternoon. In the meantime you might want to take a moment to appreciate those prospects one last time, because some of them are likely getting moved today.
  9. Corbin Burnes: Batter (Braves) vs Pitching Stats Touki Toussaint: Batter (Brewers) vs Pitching Stats Statcast Game Preview for Braves-Brewers Statcast Game Feed for Braves-Brewers
  10. From Robert Murray… The San Diego Padres are in serious talks on a deal to acquire Daniel Hudson from the Washington Nationals, according to sources familiar with situation.
  11. Very good point man. Unless there front office is similar to the brewers. Really want us to play let’s make a deal with them. Well their GM, Mike Elias, used to work directly with David Stearns, and after Stearns was named Brewers GM, Elias was promoted to his vacated Asst GM position with the Astros. A long-winded way of saying yes, there are likely some similarities between how they operate.
  12. Keibert Ruiz and Josiah Gray are both older than Juan Soto. I think the point for the Nationals is they were able to create a young MLB ready core that they’ll control for the next 5+ years. Especially considering the current state of the Nationals farm system, I think it’s a good trade for them. But I’ll admit, they still have a lot more work to do if they plan to compete again in the near future.
  13. I know we’re mostly focused on actual rumors, but I’m surprised at how few rumors there have been surrounding the Orioles thus far. Very curious to see if they move top relief arms like LHRP Paul Fry and LHRP Tanner Scott, and I thought we might hear a little bit of noise surrounding Mancini who can obviously play both a corner outfield spot and 1B.
  14. If Rowdy goes into a 2 and a half month beast mode I’m feeling pretty good about this lineup down the stretch.
  15. Corey Seager is a free agent after this season, so I sort of think they just locked up their shortstop for next year. The Dodgers are obviously well run though, so I wouldn’t completely rule out your scenario if they do indeed re-sign Seager.
  16. Thats a good haul for a couple rentals....then again those are two damn good rentals and the Dodgers can just shell out more prospect value and cash to reload next year of both arent there in 2022. It's honestly like the dodgers can use the rest of mlb as a feeder team to fill holes all the while having similar financial advantages to maintain a solid farm system. Turner is under control through next season.
  17. This Dennis Lin Tweet didn’t age well… Although to be fair I wouldn’t bet on the Dodgers to be in the Wild Card Game.
  18. From Rosenthal… If trade is completed, full package headed to Nationals for Scherzer and Turner Nationals will be C Keibert Ruiz, RHP Josiah Gray and two mid-range prospects, sources tell @TheAthletic. Others reporting Scherzer has given has approval.
  19. Wow, via Jeff Passan… BREAKING: The Los Angeles Dodgers are making significant progress on a deal that would send them star right-hander Max Scherzer and star shortstop Trea Turner from the Washington Nationals for a prospect-laden return, sources tell ESPN.
  20. From Rosenthal: Sources say other teams are still trying to top Padres for Scherzer. Nationals and Padres essentially have agreed on players in trade. Situation may be complicated by Scherzer’s ability to veto any trade and effectively choose next club.
  21. According to Heyman it isn’t a done deal yet… Padres are surely very interested and aggressive in their pursuit of top trade target Max Scherzer, but source insists there are “multiple teams” still with a chance. Those teams are believed to include the Dodgers, and perhaps the Giants, Red Sox and another team.
