  1. Yeah, I wouldn’t have minded not relying on the new guy that didn’t appear to have feel for his slider last night in that situation with two runners on.
  2. From Jim Callis: 13th-rder Quinton Low signs w/ Brewers for $347,500 ($222,500 counts vs pool). Colorado HS two-way guy, up to 96 mph at RHP, also lefty power potential. Santa Clara recruit.
  3. The Brewers hitters on the whole haven’t had much past success against Charlie Morton, but by far the worst career performance against him is Jackie Bradley Jr. who has a career line of 1-for-20 with 9 strikeouts and 2 walks versus Morton. On the flip side Anderson has a .955 OPS in a very limited sample against these Braves hitters (just 42 combined plate appearances), and has had the most trouble with Freddie Freeman (4-for-5 with a HR and walk).

  5. Well that Mets comeback win was fun. Nice 2 strike approach adjustments from Dom Smith and Brandon Drury result in both the tying and winning RBIs, respectively.
  6. Escobar sort of lucky he didn’t get his right hand stepped on as he reached for the ball on the ground as Soler was running by.
  7. So I’m with you, but I think I’m going to wait to buy the one with a World Series patch on it.
  8. This one sure has the feel of pitchers duel, at least early on. Muller has been very good over his 5 starts this season, his only somewhat bad outing was a relief appearance in his major league debut back in mid-June. Outside of that he’s been mostly outstanding. Facing a LHP, I assume they’ll try to get both Escobar and Urias in the starting lineup.

  10. The more I think about this trade, the more surprised I am it only cost them Payton Henry.
  11. Scherzer had total control of where he ended up and was clear he wanted to go to the West Coast. In his case, I get it. In many cases I agree with you, don't assume we can't get a guy because we're the Brewers. On the opposite end are guys who assume we can just put Mitchell and Turang on the table and have anyone that is on the trade block. Doesn't work that way. Between Scherzer likely preferring the Dodgers, Justin Turner using the Brewers to increase his Dodgers pay day, and Walker Buehler making the joke about not being scared of Milwaukee, it’s sure setting up for incredible satisfaction if the Brewers can beat the Dodgers in the playoffs.
  12. It feels like there’s a pretty good chance Curtiss has some stretches where he performs as an elite high leverage reliever for the Brewers.
  13. Gotta assume this is the end for Hiura in the majors this year. Can't make that assumption, IMO. Probably the end of him until the AAA season is over, though. Yeah, after Ryon Healy appeared out of the shadows to be the Brewers cleanup hitter in the playoffs last year I stopped making any assumptions.
  14. From Sarah Langs… 10 players who were All-Stars this year have been traded: Joey Gallo, Nelson Cruz, Kyle Gibson, Adam Frazier, Eduardo Escobar, Kyle Schwarber, Max Scherzer, Craig Kimbrel, Trea Turner, Kris Bryant That’s the most players to make ASG & change teams in a season
  15. I would’ve loved some big splashy move from the Brewers at the deadline, but ending the day with Garrett Mitchell, Brice Turang, Aaron Ashby, Mario Feliciano, Hedbert Perez, Jackson Chourio, etc. all still in the farm system is a win in its own right. Also, I’m collecting and hanging onto receipts from the Turang slander I’ve seen over the past couple of weeks.
  16. From Adam McCalvy… David Stearns said the Brewers did engage on some of the premium players on this market, but said "in certain circumstances I think maybe our geographical location didn't always help."
