  1. Well if he was truly trying to pitch hurt then he was doing the team no favors. I can’t imagine they would’ve let him throw tonight if he was knowingly ailing from something.
  2. Brett Anderson is just so hittable. Need to figure out how to get out of this without being down 3+ by the end of the inning.
  3. Wong turned on that one in a hurry, goodness. Thought it was gone initially... just missed.
  4. Nine walks too, so 11 Ks in 45 PAs is a 24.4 K%. First time around in AAA was 13 Ks in 40 PAs for a 32.5 K%. Small samples abound, but it appears to maybe be progress. Among all qualified Triple-A batters in 2021 the current average strikeout rate is 26.9%. In 2019 Hiura had a 26.3% strikeout rate at Triple-A in 243 plate appearances. Going forward if Keston can hover below a 25% strikeout rate in Triple-A I think that should be considered progress. He’s never going to be a low strikeout hitter, but they certainly can’t afford for him to be a greater than 35% strikeout guy at the MLB level, either.
  5. The Diamondbacks enter today’s game on a 17-game losing streak. If they lose tonight they’ll be just the 15th team since 1900 to lose at least 18 in row. The longest losing streaks since 1900 is 23 by the 1961 Philadelphia Phillies.

  7. The Rays are calling up baseball’s top overall prospect, Wander Franco, to be their shortstop going forward.
  8. Boxberger got very lucky on that first pitch to Blackmon. 94-mph mistake right down the heart of the plate.
  9. I would be a lot more confident if Josh Hader was on the mound in this situation. Boxberger has been very good, but still some good hitters coming up this inning.
  10. Just a random observation, also watching the Reds-Padres game and just noticed Trent Grisham is now 4-for-31 with 10 strikeouts and just 2 walks since returning from his hamstring injury. Wonder if it’s still bothering him a bit.
  11. Did they say if Hader was up in the pen? I know in the beginning of the inning they said he wasn’t up, hopefully that changed? Curious since he’s pitched a lot lately, and hoping he’s not unavailable today.
  12. I agree that I want to see him getting the ball elevated more, but he’s also been walking at an insane 24% rate since he returned, so it seems he’s gotten pitched around a bit as well.
  13. With Peterson on 2B the Rockies weren’t able to shift Vogelbach and he was able to take advantage. Edit: How did Vogelbach get thrown out on that. I mean great hit, but please don’t get thrown out on that garbage. I guess we’re lucky Peterson wasn’t thrown out at home.
  14. Pinch hitter (Jace Peterson) and then the top of the order. It would be nice to see Yelich get to the plate this inning with a chance to put the Crew on top.
  15. That Urias slide into second was incredible, wow. He shouldn’t tried to stretch it in the first place, but glad he was somehow able to avoid the tag.
  16. Basically they’ve used the 6th starter throughout the season whenever it’s needed due to lack of off days. They’ve committed to giving their starters 5 full days of rest between starts, so when they go on long stretches without days off they have to use the 6th starter to accomplish the 5 days of rest thing. The current stretch is 30 some days with only one scheduled off day.
  17. It’s been nice to see Eric Lauer have a solid performance today. Sophia interviewed him in the pregame about his father passing away in July of 2019 and he said today’s Father’s Day start was going to have extra meaning for him. He showed her that he wears a necklace with a dog tag style piece that has his dad’s finger print and reads “Dad”. Sometimes it’s easy to forget the human side of things for guys when they’re struggling, and it’s certainly nice to see him doing well this afternoon.
  18. The Cubs are getting out hit by the Marlins 6 to 0, yet of course they are somehow winning 1-0. Also, it’s really nice to have Wong back in the mix. It makes such a big difference for the lineup.
  19. Charlie Blackmon and Trevor Story have video game numbers versus Eric Lauer for their careers... Blackmon vs. Lauer: 11-for-18, 3 doubles, 2 home runs, 1 walk, 1 strike out, 4 RBI Story vs. Lauer: 7-for-14, 2 doubles, 2 home runs, 1 walk, 1 strike out, 9 RBI
  20. Eric Lauer: Batter (Rockies) vs Pitching Stats Chi Chi González: Batter (Brewers) vs Pitching Stats Statcast Game Preview for Rockies-Brewers Statcast Game Feed for Rockies-Brewers
  21. Willy Adames had four hits tonight, all extra base hits (3 doubles and a game winning home run). He has now had three games with the Brewers in which he’s had 4-hits. Only Robin Yount has had more 4-hit games in a season by a Brewers shortstop (Yount had five such games in 1982). The other Brewers shortstops that Willy has now tied for 4-hit games in a season are J.J. Hardy (2008), Pat Listach (1993), Ernie Riles (1985), and Robin Yount (1976). I have to wonder aloud, the Reds have been in dire need of a shortstop and had been rumored/linked to the Rays/Adames in the offseason... how on earth did they let Willy Adames end up with the Brewers.
