  1. Adames and Urias combined tonight for 6 hits (including 4 doubles and a home run), 1 walk, and 6 runs scored.
  2. Hader’s reaction to that Story fly out looked like he thought it was gone, or a hit, or something?
  3. Willy Adames now has three 4-hit games in his short Brewers tenure. He didn’t have any 4-hit games with the Rays.
  4. Yeah, obviously Adames has been incredible tonight, but Urias has gotten on base 10 times in this series so far.
  5. Yep, Adames or Yelich with chances to make this a memorable one. Edit: ADAMES!!!!!
  6. Big chance for Garcia to strike here. Edit: I’ll take a run scoring single. Alright Avi!
  7. I know it didn’t help that Houser batted that inning, but having bases loaded and no outs needs to result in at least one run being scored.
  8. Adrian Houser: Batter (Rockies) vs Pitching Stats Austin Gomber: Batter (Brewers) vs Pitching Stats Statcast Game Preview for Rockies-Brewers Statcast Game Feed for Rockies-Brewers
  9. I think a not terrible strategy in this situation (where you don’t score in the top of the inning) might be to walk the first batter and try to setup a double play.
  10. Ultimate test of the 1-inning Hader rule... Looks like it’s going to be Devin Williams in the 10th, so we have the unfortunate but predictable answer to that question.
  11. Given the option, I would rather have Billy McKinney back over Derek Fisher. Unfortunately that ship has sailed.
  12. So should I be nervous that it’s a tie game in the 9th inning and the Brewers are now out of position players.
  13. Hitting into 4 double plays tonight... sort of incredible. So far in Coors Field this series they’ve hit into 7 double plays in 17 innings.
  14. Yeah, the lack of ability to have confidence in a lighter grip is certainly a big, sudden change for pitchers. Trying to throw a chalky ball that is inconsistently prepared by clubhouse staff with MLB’s Delaware River mud, and now left to throw it without any grip substance beyond the rosin bag is a pretty big change for [what is likely] the majority of major league pitchers. I am curious to see if MLB incorporates something similar the already tacky out of the box baseball used in NPB for next season.
  15. His spin rate was down a bit, but not close to 10% from his season averages. Overall he still has very high spin rates. The slider that says he was down -245 from his season average tonight is deceiving because he threw 15 sliders, and one was tagged at 1517 RPM (extremely low). That obviously dragged down his average, but he also threw a slider at 2950 RPM tonight.
  16. And the “pitching lab” is actually just a chemistry lab where they test the tackiness of rosin-based products with various polymers mixed in.
  17. Hurts to have nothing to show for it after some good contact that inning. Hitting into two double plays already tonight not helping the cause.
  18. Luis Urias got all of that one. Urias now with as many home runs (8) as Trent Grisham this season, and I refuse to listen to any logic that points out how silly it is to compare a counting stat for players separated by 50 plates appearances.
