  1. Ha, I see how that looks... I meant pick up gallardos option, which is a team option, then shop him whether in the winter or mid season. Then let weeks walk, and Ramirez walk (or actually pick up his option as well, he doesn't seem to be slowing down, but the power is nearly gone). IIRC weeks' option is one that cannot be 'picked up' by either side, rather it is a vesting option based on PAs I think, which I would then assume it has no chance of vesting. But, to my displeasure, you are correct, it's not Melvin and MAs MO. It's just frustrating to see Epstein doing everything right in Chicago, they are going to own the division for a long time starting in the not so distant future. They are built like a good small market team that has big dollars, it's scary. The funny thing is, cubs fans have been trying to run him off, they call him an idiot and they hate him (at least all of the ones I know, some of which I am sadly related to...). I wish the brewers would be willing to take the risk on young guys to allow them to build for sustained, inexpensive, success.
  2. Darn it... possibly braun could play the warm corner.
  3. I just saw that the 27 year old cuban defector is look to get something in the neighborhood of 5 years and 50/60 million. Should the Brewers be in on this guy? I think so. Since hes played more than 5 years internationally he does count against next seasons international bonus pool and he could be added to the roster in September without disturbing. Having another centerfielder of his caliber would allow this team a lot of flexibility (Khris Davis to first) both this season and moving forward. He is compared to Cutch and Puig... I doubt they get in the mix, but with a lot of salary coming off the books this offseason, especially with a potential trade of kyle lohse, option pickup and trade of gallardo, weeks, and Ramirez. This make up of the team would probably be able to absorb this contract easily and could potentially be adding an allstar. Everyone left is pre arby or on a team friendly deal. I would be okay with next years team looking like this: SP: Garza 2: Peralta 3: Nelson 4: Fiers 5: Thornburg/Smith (depending on Tylers health) With Smith, Jungmann, Pena, Hellweg, Burgos, Blazek, Bradley, Cravy and the likes providing depth. (the brewers have never had this kind of pitching depth in my entire 15 years religiously following the team and its affiliates. CF: Gomez 2b: Gennett RF: Braun C: Lucroy 1B: Kandy Khrush Davis SS: Segura RF: Castillo 3B: Rogers P: Garza The bench would likely be comprised of Maldy, Schafer, Morris, Herrarra, possibly matt clark who is getting outfield work now. I know this is all super speculation, but this would allow the brewers flexibility to load up with minors (which they should do with their pitching depth, but likely will not), because it would allow you to trade one of braun (if someone would take his contract) or Gomez who the brewers will not be able to retain. What are you all's thoughts?
  4. I would be all for that!! Based on his scouting report out of high school I don't think he would be relegated to 1B. He apparently has the athleticism and make up to play all four of the corners. I don't mind him not sticking behind the dish, but it leaves the system pretty barren at the position if he moves out.
  5. I think what this shows more than anything is that the brewers don't see Brennan having an MLB future... I know that's a jump, but why else, especially this late, start pushing guys to see if you have a 3B to move along with coulter, McFarland, Denson, Garcia exc. if you thought Brennan would be that guy, the brewers famously try to get their future MLBers playing together early so they can move them together. Just something to think about.
  6. Agreed, look at arcia... If he was in another organization he would be top 100 guaranteed. I know that's a big statement, but he is the total package. First off SS tends to be one of the "trendier" top prospect type, because it's such a premium position that if a guy can just hit a little bit scout start falling over themselves. Arcia has it all, he is a plus plus defender, he is VERY young for the level he's playing at, he's having a VERY strong offensive year in an extreme offensive suppressing environment, he has good speed on the bases and in the field, and he has premium blood lines and yet he has not even come close to even come close to kind of sniffing a list... He probably wouldn't even be in most of the "experts" top 300 lists, not to mention 100 lists and I could make an argument that is legit that he's top 75 in baseball. I go back to Melvin and mark A talking about how political it is to get your prospects ranked and how much money it takes to get people to even look at your guys and that's they weren't going to do it because they didn't see the value. I think they might change their minds after this years trade deadline; after way overpaying for parra, and not being able to bring in a reliever with most teams asking for jimmy Nelson for a half season rental of a reliever... When you pair that with 1 or 2 bad drafts (at the top) and it becomes self-fulfilling. Not one of these guys ever had kris Davis anywhere near one of these top "however many" lists and he has already outperformed what probably 90% of the top 100 ahead of him will ever do in the bigs. Wring place for this, sorry for soap boxing .
  7. 1. Medeiros 2. Coulter 3. Arica 4. Wagner 5. Taylor 6. Lopez 7. D Williams 8. Lara 9. Gatewood 10. Roach 11. Jungmann 12. Harrison 13. Bradley 14. Pena 15 a. Diaz 15 b. T Williams 17. McFarland 18. Rogers 19. Morris 20. Hellweg 21. Rivera 22. Nuehaus 23. Rizzo 24. Yamamoto 25. Reed This list was hard... I guess that's a really good thing though. I also have to give the brewers credit, because they have 'struggled' with the "worst" or one of the worst farms in baseball over the last couple years and yet they have an awfully impressive recent graduate list playing in the majors. Davis, gennett, peralta, Nelson, thornburg, fiers, maldy... That's not easy to do, especially since they add those guys to the other home growns like Braun, lucroy, gallardo, and weeks, then you look at the prospects that they traded for with Gomez and segura. They just aren't as bad as we give them credit for is my point, which has me that much more excited for 3/4 years from now because this current crop looks like the real deal to me, lots of balance and lots of talent!!
  8. I think Schafer, gindl, and Galton are probably locks. It will be nice to have some left handedness to mix in. Falu, Gomez, and Rodgers make a lot of sense, but then there literally would not be a roster left at Nashville, maybe they could star pt bumping up some of the truly deserving guys they have right now and it would all work out. IDK. Pena makes sense for the pen, he's really turned it on lately too. I think he was dealing with injury for a stretch, because when I saw him play he was throwing 88-90mph, not the 94-96 I was expecting, that's right about when he started getting shelled 2 months ago or so.... So who knows. But if he's still soft tossing I don't see him getting called ahead of hand or Wooten.
  9. Morris Rogers roach cravy blazek hall/Bradley/jungmann
  10. So, if you take out April he was literally a top 5 hitter in AA, cant ignore that. I always entirely ignore Brevard stats, you just hope to hear stories from the coaches about developing pitches and approaches and such. He had legitimate consideration to make the team out of ST. Of all of the trades made today he is considered the best prospect traded, look at the return compared to other trades. All of that said, I LOVE how Parra fits this team, I think this addition, with a healthy Henderson is enough to get the brewers to the playoffs, possibly win the central. I just think they overpaid.
  11. The thing is, the brewers are not getting those 9 wins from 10-12, the are getting a half win, maybe, this season and a win or two, maybe, next season. I can all but guarantee, barring injury, haniger crushes that win number for the first 5/6 years of his big league career. Not to mention the lefty with 93mph stuff that was really turning into a nice player.
  12. He has been VERY good at Huntsville. He had a disastrous April, and then proceeded to be on of the best hitters in the league for the next two months and was probably very close to a promotion when he got hurt. His OPS was over 1000 in june when he got hurt. Hes a very good player with a nice ceiling, not a super star but nice controllable talent. I think you are undervaluing him is all. Its my opinion that the brewers overpaid by quite a bit for what they got back thats all.
  13. I really like how he fits as a 4th outfielder for this team. I really dont like the price the brewers paid for him. I think Haniger is being really undervalued here... The kid would have been pushing for time in milwaukee next season, thats a big loss. All I can think is that DM and co think that Taylor will be ready at the time that gomez gets traded, thats a tight timeline. Haniger showed to power to play one of the corners too, but braun and davis are both under control for the foreseeable future. Given that it makes sense to move him but I think the return was low. On top of that Banda was added, further lopsiding this. He was developing into a REALLY nice player. In his third year out of CC he has moved up a level every year and gotten BETTER at the more advanced level every year, his career arch suggests that he will make a nice pitcher at the MLB level, or he could flame out as is the risk with every minor leaguer. He pitched 40ips then 60 then 80 up a level each time and has given up 40 runs over each level, thats incredible progression. his K to walk ratio got better each year, K to innings pitched, hits to innings pitched, HRs to innings pitched, WHIP has gone down, everything has gotten better with this kid as he's advanced and hes left handed. He is 20, throws 93, and is 2 years younger than the average player in his league. He alone probably could have brought back Parra seeing as how the Dbacks tried drafting him out of highschool and then the gaurenteed him they would take him in the 8-10th round range the next year and the brewers stole him. Price was way to high, but this trade really helps the brewers, probably get them to the playoffs.
  14. He's a 3.5 era guy who is 27 and brings it from the left side and has 3 more years of control. Hes also had this success in the AL, against the heavy hitting angels and rangers regularly, so you could expect the era to lower a few ticks maybe 3.4/3.3 in the NL. A lot to like here. He would be a nice change of pace in the rotation next season and nice insurance this season. Would also allow the brewers to swap Gorzo for a righty for the pen. IDK I just think it would have been a good move. When estrada is right I think the have relative equal value. Though estrada is not right this year, for some reason his change took a step back and his soft FB got straighter (he has appeared off balance quite a bit).
  15. this seems so lopsided... Would have loved if the brewers could have brought in tommy milone
  16. Edwin Encarnacion is the full time, not platooned, first baseman. Juan Francisco has had the roll of Lefty DH, 3b, and 1b when needed. Sorry, I didnt mean to say that he wasnt being used, more so that he wasnt being used the way he would be used in milwaukee, he has much more value to the brewers than he does to toronto. On the same hand Weeks and Maldy have a lot more value to Toronto than they do to the Brewers. It just seems like a really good fit where 2 contenders could trade from strengths and both get better. I get frustrated because it seems like trades like this get overlooked due to the "buyers" and "sellers" labels at the deadline. I think this would be awesome if it could happen!!
  17. It looks like Kyle Heckathorn is starting game 1 in Nashville... Everything okay with fiers and Jungmann?
  18. Adam Lind should be a trade target for DM and Co. He is set to come off the DL tomorrow. It would make a lot of sense for Toronto to try to get something back for him as they are barely using him and are not likely to pick up his club option for next season. I think he would slide in very nicely at first for the crew and likely wont cost too much. It could be a deal that helps both contending teams. The Jays need help at second and in the bullpen more than anything so I think there is a match. Their future needs are behind the plate and in CF. I think some combination of Weeks, Maldy, Schafer, Zarraga, Gorzo, Duke, Fiers, Kintzler, or Estrada gets it done without having to really touch anything of value in the minors. I dont know what more contenders done trade with each other like this. I know bullpen is considered an area of need for the crew, but I dont see it that way at all. They have three dominant lefties, even if will smith is wearing down a bit, and a slew of capable guys that are all better than what toronto has. If the brewers did this I would be very comfy unloading weeks and Maldy plus one of schafer/duke/gorz/estrada for lind, and that might even be too much. If it did take one of the lefties in the pen i would still really like a brewers bullpen that looked like: Henderson Krod Smith Jeffress Duke/Gorzelanny Estrada/Thornburg Kintzler/Thornburg (when healthy being the longer reliever which would replace one of these two). The brewers are about to have a backup in the Pen and they are soon getting two aces back, so i dont believe they need to trade to add to the pen, I think they could trade out of it and make the club better in the process. What do you all think?
  19. Agreed, I like Lohse in any game against anyone. Sure he doesn't have dominant stuff, but i cant remember a game he was pitching where i didn't like the brewers chances regardless of the opposing pitcher. On top of that, I like our offenses history against the front line type guys. Roy Halladay and Cliff Lee are not fond of pitching to the brewers, its your journeyman guys that tend to give the brewers a hard time like brett meyers and jake westbrook. The trade that I still think would have by far the greatest impact for this teams chances would be Justin Morneau. I know that it isnt the most popular idea, but he would be worth the reasonable prospect package it would take to get him for this team. Just one more regular capable left handed bat (with power to boot) would do wonders for the consistency of the offense. Mark Reynolds then slides into a far better role for his skill set. How about Khris Davis, thornburg, Fiers, nuehaus, Pena, and Coulter for Morneau and Cargo?
  20. This is crazy to me... I know hes having a down year, but in a better hitters park with better hitters around him in the lineup Headley should see a nice jump in offense. Pair that with the fact that he is a switch hitter that plays great defense, I think the brewers should have made this deal, I am stunned at how low the price was, he would have been an instant upgrade from the brewers in a corner infield semi platoon role. For the price of essential Hector Gomez + one of Magnifico, Hobbs Johnson, or Austin Ross... that blows me away, nice deal for the Yanks.
  21. Quick question: I am sure this has been covered, and I am sorry for forgetting it, is there any word/updates on Nick Bucci?
  22. So after tonight's box scores it looks to me like suter is tabbed to take mills'a spot in the Nashville rotation. Wagner will be pitching In The highA allstar game and he makes all the sense in the world to get a bump, and Taylor Williams would seem to be getting bumped to highA. I may be way off but I do t see any other reason those guys whom I thought both deserved promotions would be pitching out of the pens tonight. And Wagner is VERY deserving of a shot at double A hitters, generally the brewers like to wait until after the allstar games for these moves, it all kind of lines up, what do you guys think?
  23. The brewers spine tilt is 100% definitely for real. There is no question. My buddy just looked at me in awe last year when I was trying to explain it to him what was wrong with peralta (I had never heard the actual term and I also thought it was a different problem, but after your post I clearly see what I was explaining was caused by the spine tilt). Just when willy was looking so bad that it was getting ugly, before his turn around, my buddy was like, " dude I thought you said this guy was going to be a stud." So I turned on the mlbtv package and start going through and showing him that willies delivery was all screwed up, I pulled up one good start and said focus on willies right foot, we did and on most deliveries his toes was just short of dragging across the mound as he finished his torque, he was landing mostly balanced and had decent control. Then we put on the game that he just got shelled ( I do t remember but it was like 7 er in 3 innings, cincyi think) and it was his third bad start in a row, and said watch his foot again this time it was following 6 or more inches in the air, and willie was dramatically falling off the the first base side. We watch several pitches focusing on this and everytime he didn't keep the foot down he was nearly falling down after his torque and release and was missing his spot horribly. One in every 4-5 he would keep the foot down and he would hit his spot. Finally there was a visit to the mound and I said "thank god they finally noticed he's not balanced, but they did nothing to fix it in that game of the next few, but then Eventually he started keeping the foot down and literally the rest is history, the guy is a frontline starter (not a legit ace, but frontline forsure). Gallardo had this same problem on and off last year was well, but not as obvious or dramatic as peralta. To me it just seemed like such an easy fix and I did t understand how the brewers did t see it, and gallardo hasn't always done it btw, it's just the last 2-3 seasons, he used to almost jump forward toward the plate after his release and he only recently started falling off to first. I would be interested in learning more about the brewers spine tilt, because the shot you showed looked like the exact cause of both pitchers struggles. Not that's it's the lean itself, buts it's causing them to, at times be off balance through the stride and I see it every time it happens, that foot starts pulling higher and higher and in the post game we just read "didn't have his best stuff today." I'm going to have to start watching Marco now cause I did not see it in him last season and I have seen many of his starts this year or even thought to look for it. Sorry for rambling, but I spotted this as a big problem with our pitchers consistency and I am blown away to learn that it's being taught. Also excuse typos and random punctuation ... iPhone
