  1. Wow, that couldn't have worked out funnier! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/roll.gif
  2. bjamesw22, by the logic in that last post, you would bunt with the #8 hitter every time a man is on 1st. Not even close. First of all, there were guys on 1st AND second. Secondly, we are playing the division leader with a 2 run lead. The more runs you put across the more pressure you put on that team. You have a much better chance of getting more runners across with guys on 2 and 3 with one out no matter who is up.
  3. He doesn't strikeout much, so you let him swing away to move the runners. Yeah, I know, he just hits a lot of soft grounders which would in this case make a double play.
  4. Not with your pitcher up. Nope. Now obviously you disagree with everyone just about everyone else on this topic (and many others) so I guess there's nothing more to say. What you're not understanding is the high rate of failure in MLB. Just because Hardy is hot does not mean anything other than that he still has a 65% chance of FAILING. I'd rather have guys on 2 and 3 with one out when even if a guy fails we can still score a run. Insead we left guys on 1 and 2 with 1 out and a double play in tact with the pitcher up.
  5. Wow, check out our batting averages. Weeks: .274 Overbay: .274 Jenkins: .275 Miller: .276 Branyan: .276 What are the chances of having 5 people so close in batting average!?! Kind of cool.
  6. Again, it's not as black and white of a decision as you're making it seem.
  7. I don't know if I've EVER seen the #8 guy be asked to sacrifice bunt. Maybe I just don't remember it, but it's obviously not sound strategy. Well I'm glad you're the expert. With nobody out and guys on 1 and 2, putting guys on 2 and 3 with one out isn't a good idea? It doesn't matter WHO is up. Cappy is a pretty good hitter for a pitcher besides.
  8. We better put 2 more runs on the board here.
  9. That's your opinion Weirdo, baseball strategy isn't black and white like you're making it seem. On a lighter note, 3-0!!
  10. For the last time: Why would you take the bat out of your shortstop's hand and let your pitcher hit away? Sure, let Sheets hit in that situation. Dumb dumb dumb. For the last time, read my reasoning. No need to insult. It's a difference in baseball strategy. Looks like your version worked out into a pop out and a double play.
  11. This is flawed logic. The Cardinals are down 2-0, and they probably wouldn't concede a run in that situation. They'd bring the infield in, and a Capuano grounder probably wouldn't score a run, especially when Miller is the runner at third. In the 2nd inning you think they'd pull the infield in? I don't. Even so, just makes it easier to punch a ball through the infield. And if a runner gets thrown out at home, you still have runners at the corners with the top of the order up.
  12. You bunt guys to second and third with the pitcher up because then there is no DP, and a ground ball from the pitcher scores a run. If he strikes out or flies out, you have guys on 2nd and 3rd with the top of the order up. Guess I need to post it again.
  13. No, he didn't play that right. You bunt guys to second and third with the pitcher up because then there is no DP, and a ground ball from the pitcher scores a run. If he strikes out or flies out, you have guys on 2nd and 3rd with the top of the order up.
  14. No doubt they should have bunted JJ there.
  15. Umm, because the pitcher then can't hit into a double play and a ground ball scores a run.
  16. My reasoning is that we might as well put Jenkins up higher in the order while he is hot. Does anyone know what Overbay's numbers are when batting 5th vs. 3rd? It seems as though he bats better when in the 5th spot.
  17. Does anyone else think that Overbay and Jenkins should flip-flop putting Jenks in the 3 hole and Overbay in the 5 hole? I'd like to see: 1. Clark cf 2. Weeks 2b 3. Jenkins rf 4. Lee lf 5. Overbay 1b 6. Hall 3b 7. Hardy ss 8. Moeller c
  18. You're a little late, this thread was already started. Locksmith, have your way with it.

  20. I find my self incessently coming back to the game thread to view good news. And although I know the chances of finding any tonight are slim to none, at least we can still see Ashley amongst the bad news. Thanks Russ!
  21. Doug Davis (9-7 4.03 era) and Jeff Suppan (9-7 4.21 era) in a decent pitching matchup. It should be a good one as the Crew try to "battle" back in the series to even it out. cbssportsline.com Preview ESPN Preview Yahoo Sports Preview USAToday Preview milwaukeebrewers.com Preview
  22. The real worry tonight was Khalid, who left the mound clutching his pitching arm Somewhere in Waukesha, WI Brian Kapellusch is drowning in his own tears. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  23. I only focused on one part of Angel's problem, blocking the ball, and didn't talk about the other, errant throws. I think this could warrant it's own thread so I'll start one.
