  1. Today, Clark getting hurt left no one on the bench to come in an play, either as a PH I knew not having Mags around to pinch hit was going to hurt us. Actually, seriously, if Mags had been available on the bench, do you think Yostie would have given him the call for Ben with 1 out and runners at the corners.
  2. After next series, can we post shorthand to save typing 1=them Reds were hot what did you expect 2=dont panic we just need to sweep the Rockies to be ok 3=their lineup (even though Griffey pulled a hammy and did not play, and Dunn got lost on the way to the ballpark, and they brought back Jimmy Haynes to face us for the first five innings of each game) is much better than ours 4=it was a good move by Ned to have Magruder pinch hit, and it was bad luck he hit a weak roller with bases loaded and nobody out, and it was even more clever for Mags to then quickly change his jersey and come back out as Hall and pinch hit again and it was only bad luck he rolled into a double play 5=that was not a bad move by Ned 6=that was not a bad move by Ned, because I said so 7=that was not a bad move by Ned, the player (Mags) just did not do the job
  3. These three games symbolize nothing to me about the direction of the team I.... Um..... Well...
  4. They lost three games. I look at it more like they shamed themselves. When you are trying to get off the mat (like we have been) and Lenny Harris is your weapon, you expect series like this. But we are off the mat. We have a nice blend of talent all across the team. The management have done their job. But managment cannot tell these baby-men how to play with spirit - how to care. This mob shamed themselves. And they shamed themselves in front of 10s of thousands of people who love them and pay money to them. You cannot get much more weak than that. Shame.
  5. Since I am only on the internet can someone help me. Are our players in the 'Louis dugout patting Ecks and Co. on the backside saying 'nice game'. Is LaRussa giving out autographs. What a shameful display by our team. I have gone back to shame being a Brewer fan... shame, shame, shame.
  6. Ok, your Mark. You pay 40+ million in salary for this. What do you do? Ok, your a fan. You pay $40 bucks to watch this. What do you do?
  7. Naivin, do you really think comparing the starting pitching and starting lineups today
  8. If we get a guy on in front of Sheets do we pinch hit for him or keep him in. He is only at 96 pitches. And Magruder is not available to hit. Ned will have a tough decision there.
  9. What is depressing is these guys had 27 innings to put up some fight. Either the pitchers could have stepped up or the offense. But they appear to have coasted. LaRussa put up teams that I think our Nashville side could beat. But we played without emotion and watched the all mighty Cardinals. The complete lack of 'everything' from this mob is so disappointing. It is like they have decided it is too much work being at .500. They go back to their underachieving ways. Take any of our guys, put him on a team that has some spirit, and he will perform, because the team expects it. This team takes to heart all the guys that sing their praises for getting to .500. But they are so weak kneed they cannot even stomach themselves to try to stay there. How can they sleep at night when they let themselves down so, so badly. 27 innings - no fight - three losses to AAA squades. Right when the season was at a crossroads. How, how disappointing. Can I guess now we have had enough time to show JJ and Weeks how to coast and relax and collect your paycheque without having to work too hard. Bad baseball. Bad spirit. Lack of effort. No caring.
  10. Poor huntsvillefan. Just wait until next year. Your crops will be renewed and an abundant harvest will blossom. Either that or the locus will eat all our prospects.
  11. I think you put Heether at AA and see what happens. If he stumbles you are hoping that Braun will be hardened by his A+ time. If either guy does well we are laughing. If both do well, what the heck, we can double laugh.
  12. The beauty with having so many prospects on fire - even after being promoted is that we can do a big cull at AA next year. A few guys can go up. A few guys can stay. But the majority should be replaced with the A+ and A guys that are on fire. I say this without looking at the roster man for man, but it seems a lot of guys there on the cusp of prospect or non-prospect end up being non prospect. Next year we could have a system stacked near the top again. I am thinking pitching prospects at AAA and position prospects at AA.
  13. Well, this is nothing 30 million injection in payroll cant fix. But I dont agree we should go that way. We just need to take our lumps. Remember the disrespect they show us. And be ready for the turnaround. I think I am going to put St Louis on the top of my 'yukky' team list. Along with LaRussa their fans their condescending attitude, they can just crawl back to their little holes.
  14. Well, I can only hope we survive these three games and actually learn how to play baseball by watching. But one thing I do not like. The umpires think (know) the Cards are better than us, hence all borderline calls go to them. It is like in the Olympics. In a judging contest, the judges dont want to rock the boat, hence all benefit of the doubt goes to the reigning champ. I think that is one reason St Louis falter in the playoffs. They are not used to a level playing field. Game by game, LaRussa can play his mind games on the umpires, and they respond. In the playoffs, that is kind of nullified. That is why it is hard to stomach losing to these guys. But the worm will turn one day, and I will laugh a happy an long laugh when St Louis enjoy 10 years at the bottom of the heap. They give no respect, so they deserve no repect.
  15. be calm all, we are one run behind, we dont want to run away with the game and take the excitement away from the crowd this is all going to plan
  16. We do not deserve to be in the game, but we are. Let us pull this one from the jaws of defeat. C'mon Crew fire up. You must use your brains against a call up you dont know. Do not just hack. Hack smart.
  17. ok naivin, you have almost convinced me... those are not good stats for PH for Russell; but enough about that I was interested in your comment re the diff between Houston and Milw with RISP batting; so I looked Milwaukee is 6th in the Nat in OPS but 11th OPS with RISP Houston is 13th in the Nat in OPS but 9th with RISP So, that certainly is a big difference, we are -5 places and they are +4 places with RISP. But their pitching is just too good. Houston is 2nd in era and 1st is era with RISP (by far!) Milw is 7th in era and 5th in era with RISP (clutch pitching?) So, it is easy to see Houston's good pitching and clutch hitting outdo our average pitching and anticlutch hitting. Now I cannot see how we can catch them. We need a good week NOW.
  18. Since you don't like Ned Yost, it is a completely safe assumption that Russ would have delivered no less than a single in the 4th. I have never said I dont like Ned. And I have often said he is good for the team and currently the right man for the job. I agree with his option being picked up. I already wrote that before. What I dont like are some of the odd in game decisions Ned makes. And I say it. You, on the other hand, seem to agree with EVERYTHING Ned does, blindly, without question. That is your choice. But do not put words in my mouth. You often say 'hoffy, you said this or mean this or assume that'. Get off your high horse and listen and use your brain. We dont agree. Fine. But the logic you put forth to back up Ned just do not make sense. Hence, they are very unsatisfying to listen to. But maybe like Ned, you can learn and grow, too.
  19. It shows how far we have to come... I know they are St Louis and all that... but their D has been a wee bit better their in game managing a wee bit better their starter stunk a little, but ours was stinkier their relief pitchers were a little better So, all in all, you lose by a couple of runs. It has been a game to just show that were not there yet. Just not that winning sharpness. But I think our skill levels are moving up and our scrapiness is pretty good, we just are not sharp.
  20. It is so, so difficult to have an intelligent discussion or even an intelligent disagreement when the people refuse to listen to facts. You can disagree with the facts, but to just play games with words is a joke... very unsatisfying discussion naivin.
  21. It is dearly sad to keep giving runs away. I am not talking about k's or errors... I am talking about mental mistakes... darn, darn, darn. The guys need to be careful. If you take your 10 year old to the game to see that kind of dumbness, you may instead end up watching the local high scholl team, who seem to be better coached.
  22. On the postive side, we have used up all our 'not so good players'... starters and pinch hitters, we have a good pen read, we have good hitters on the bench, we have three more outs to play with, and the game is tied. I like the way the guys have smacked the ball - even a lot of hard hit outs (like Clarks smack to third with bases loaded). These guys are playing baseball.
  23. naivin, remember when I joked about Ned's relatives posting here. I was joking, but you are really making think my joke may be true. In all, all honestly, if the game was on the line... forget about inning or double switches or any other dang nonsense you can can come up.... If you bases loaded with one out and a rightie pitching against you... who do you choose. Who is YOUR best choice to score a run?
  24. He hit Magruder because the game isn't on the line in the 4th inning. I would have hoped Ned does the best he can to score those runs. He did not do the best he could. I dont know what his reason is. Maybe the pitcher's spot will be up later in the game, and our pitcher is struggling, and the opposing pitcher is a rightie, and there will be 4 guys on base instead of three. It was obvious you go with you best effort to score the runs. I do not know why Ned did not go with the best effort.
  25. Forgive me and do not heap rage on me, but the lineups of the two teams tonight does not make one David and one Goliath. Aside from Pujhols and Edmonds in the three-four spots the Cards are not awe-inspiring. The one espn channel here is Oz is showing some stupid NFL preseason game, Bears and Miami, I think. How boring. So I think my sick day will be over and I will go to work. C'mon Crew... one game over .500 has a nice ring to it.
