  1. Dave Bush was cruising. He had thrown 77 pitches through 6 innings. At that point I was thinking CG out of him. He had retired 13 out of his last 14 hitters. He was flat out dealing. He gave up a very tough 10 pitch walk to Barrett. Then he gave up a couple of singles. I'll go so far as to say I would have rather let Bush work out of the 7th than bring in Shouse.
  2. Along the same lines, what does everyone want to see for the next 9 games (after the Cubs series) when we need a DH?? I personally hope Ned doesn't use the DH as a chance to get Graffanino and Counsell more AB's.
  3. Weeks Hart Hardy Fielder Estrada Braun Jenkins/Mench Gross/Gwynn Pitcher
  4. Yea because the Crew has played in so many of these this year. I see a low-scoring, well-played game with the Brewers winning 4-2.
  5. Let's preface this by saying I am an IDIOT. But, I read your post at least 5 times trying to figure out if you went to the game with Ben Sheets wife (I even tried to look up if he had one) or Ben Sheets mom. Then I finally realized you went to the game with YOUR Mrs. And Sheets dominated. Wow.
  6. Let me be the first to say it....Ben Sheets' start on Saturday against Texas is an ENORMOUS test for him. I mean if he doesn't shut them out over 8 innings, it will prove that his last 9 starts were all flukes. It will show that his 2.65 ERA over the last 9 starts was juts a byproduct of playing bad teams. It will show he only pitches well in the NL because it's a poor hitter's league. And most importantly it will prove that Sheets is over-rated because Quality Starts shouldn't be 6 innings, but rather 7. I'll be on pins and needles until next Saturday waiting to see if we have an ace or if he is merely a 3rd starter. It should be quite the test. Just for fun: his last 9 starts 6 Innings; 0 ER 6 innings: 3 ER 6.1 innings; 2 ER 7.2 innings; 2 ER 6 innings; 3 ER 6.1 innings; 2 ER 6 innings; 2 ER 3 innings; 0 ER 7 innings; 2 ER
  7. Whether I agree with you or not, I'd be shocked if Ned didn't bring him out for the 8th. Has there been a game all year where Turnbow is available in a "hold" situation where he didn't pitch the 8th inning??
  8. Another HORRIBLE outing by Sheets. Hey Bucksman4....I wish we had an ace that could give us 6 solid innings with a shot to win... Oh wait..we do. Every frickin time he starts.
  9. espn.com hadn't put yesterday's game on their site yet. I'm sorry. He's made 11. Sheets makes his 11th tonight. Big difference. Not to mention Santana gave up 4 more ER's in this 11th start. I never said anything about Santana leaving a game injured. I just said Sheets hasn't been injured this year either. I'm not spinning anything! It's facts. I know I know. Facts suck dont they?? 1. It was 37 Degrees at first pitch 2. It was in Chicago on a rainy day after a 2 hour rain delay 3. It was a groin strain 4. He did want to stay in the game 5. He did pitch 3 scoreless innings 6. Yost and the training staff didnt want him to tweak it in a start in April, so they made him come out. 7. He didn't miss his next start. Think what you want, but I consider Sheets to be an ace. I'm not a huge fan of Sheets or his personality, but I think there is no doubt that he is an ace.
  10. Sheets has not missed a start this year. He will make his 11th tonight. Santana has made 10. Sheets left a frickin game with a sore groin after sitting for 2 hours and 30 minutes waiting for it to stop raining on a 35 degree day in Chicago. He wanted to keep pitching, Yost and the medical staff said no. He did NOT miss his next start. So what? He left a game after 3 innings (against his will) in April. He has not missed a start. He's pitched every 5 days just like Santana. Some people have a preconceived notion that Sheets misses starts that he actually doesn't because he got hurt at the end of the 2005 season and didn't heal until the middle of 2006. It's border-line crazy.
  11. Right so if Sheets leaves a 0-0 tie in the 8th inning for a pinch-hitter and the Crew loses 1-0...Sheets is clearly not an ace. He just stopped a losing streak in Phily with a great outing. He would have stopped one in LA if the Brewers scored any runs at all. People's expectations for Sheets are ridiculous. All he is paid to do is go out there and pitch 6 or 7 or 8 innings and give his team a chance to win if they score 3 runs. He does that every single frickin' start. I don't know what all this talk about Santana is like he pitches a shutout every outing or something. His last 10 outings: 7 innings; 1 ER 7 innings; 2 ER 6 innings; 2 ER 5 innings; 1 ER 6 innings; 3 ER 7 innings; 4 ER 7 innings 1 ER 7 innings; 4 ER 7 innings; 0 ER 6 innings; 4 ER Sheets' last 10 outings: 6.1 innings; 2 ER 7.2 innings; 2 ER 6 innings; 3 ER 6.1 innings; 2 ER 6 innings; 2 ER 3 innings; 0 ER 7 innings; 2 ER 5 innings; 7 ER 6 innings; 5 ER 9 innings; 1 ER Both pitchers have worked into the 7th inning in about half their starts (Santana 6, Sheets 5). Both pitchers have given up 3 ER's or fewer in ALMOST 80% of their starts (Sheets 8, Santana 7). I don't really see where the big difference in in these 2 players. They both have an ERA of around 3.50 (Sheets: 3.75, Santana 3.21), while Sheets had his altered by the very bad start against St. Louis or they'd be virtually the same. I'm not saying Sheets is Santana, but I am saying that Santana isn't nearly as "automatic" as people around here seem to think. In fact, Sheets has given his team a better chance to win (3 ER's or less) more times than Santana has )8 to 7).
  12. Big Ben will give the Brewers the jolt they need to snap this streak. I'm seeing a dominating performance tonight.
  13. Graffy has a 1.000 OPS against Maddux. I'd start him tomorrow and give Braun a day to get acclimated. Haven't been so excited for a game in a long time. 1992?
  14. Really?? You couldnt envision a situation where Weeks singles, Gwynn walks, And Fielder homers?? It's baseball. Weird things happen. If you don't want to watch, don't watch. But don't say the Crew can't score 4 runs in 8 innings. It's not like Weeks, Fielder, Hall, Estrada, or Jenkins couldn't go yard with guys on base.
  15. All the talk about the lineup....the bigger concern is Capuano. With him pitching tonight....we could have put ARod, Pujols, and Babe Ruth in the lineup and still lost.
  16. Did it occur to anyone that maybe JJ is sick or nicked up?? Or are we just going to bite Yost's head off without getting an exclamation. He was sick enought 2 days ago that Bill Hall took infield at SS. Maybe whatever ailed him then (He is 0 for 10 since) isn't totally gone?
  17. Ennder, this comment confused me. Just seeing what you meant. Do you mean : We have the "better" pitcher of the the 2, between Cappy and Penny? Do you mean we have the Brewers "best" pitcher going? Do you mean we have the best pitcher in the league going? I'm assuming you just mean between Cappy and Penny, but just curious.
  18. He has been very good, but he just gave up 8 Earned Runs against the Angels in his last outing in 5 innings...... and the Angels are no Brewers. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Let's bust open today boys. GO CREW
  19. Sweet. As expected. No surprises there. Lots of Lefties to come off the bench if it becomes a bullpen game. Aren't most of the Dodgers power arms (Broxton, etc) Righties?
  20. Anyone seen a lineup? USAToday is unusually late.
  21. Ok Ok Ok...i'm partly at fault becuase I hijacked the IGT to post my thoughts on Sheets, but let's get off that topic in the IGT the rest of the night...and talk about the actual game. Not 2004. Not Zambrano of 2006. Not if he's an ace or not. He's pitching tonight. And we need another big win. After all, it's a must win, right?
  22. hmmm you are right. I vaguely remember the rockies game and assumed that was the last start without looking it up. my fault.
  23. Yea you're right and I didn't even do the part I did right. Plus the bullpen would factor in.....but the point remains the same.
  24. It's a rare occurance huh TChttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
