  1. I strongly vote if you have something special in mind to break it out TUESDAY night. I do not think eliminating an IGT will solve anything. People that don't want to have one, don't have to open it. I just think it's silly.
  2. Rluz--If you included me in the "over run". Sorry. I probably did go a little over the top with that post. I just get frustrated reading all the negativity. I'm all for a good solid discussion, but to call the NL leader in HR's "fat and lazy", among the other stuff said just didn't seem like very good message board material. This site is the best out there. And I'd be lost without it, but I just wish that people wouldn't panic so quick during bad stretches, but I understand fans are fans and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. It just seems like there could be different ways to express it.
  3. Fair question. I guess because simply spitting it out wouldnt have been "gross enough" to describe what I thought of some of the things posted in that rant.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  4. It's really a shame that this site punishes and suspends posters who stick up for the team and manager, while hurting other poster's feelings by being "condenscending"...... But they allow trash like this. This is an embarassing post. I'm embarassed to be considered in the same fan base as this crap. It's sick. Unmotivated Untalented Fade badly disappointments rotation sucks inconsistent is synonymous with losing luckiest pitcher i've seen in awhile Stink in leftfield Fielder's done. Fat. and out of shape. Wasted year JJ is back to form. He had his career year. Bravo for him. Estrada is a millstone. Bullpen in shambles. Haggard Will continue to screw up 2007 Milwaukee Brewers...These are your fans. Giving you 100% support through and through....oh wait. What a joke. It's a travesty that people get banned/reprimanded for disagreeing with people on this board, but yet people are allowed to take absolute below the belt shots at players (who for all we know read the board) and the mods look the other way. Posts like these remind me why I hate fickle fans who never see any optimism. You don't think they players know it was a rough week? They don't need to hear you take shots at a young and very exciting FIRST PLACE team the way you just did. That post made me puke in my mouth and swallow it. Thanks for that anyways.
  5. That's what I was thinking. It would be a great way to limit Yo's innings IMO.
  6. What does the Crew intend to do with Manny Parra now? Back to the minors to start? Lefty out of the big league pen? I can't see him staying in the rotation with Cappy, Suppan, Bush, Vargas, Yo, and Sheets recovering. Does anyone know what they actually intend to do? What would everyone like to see them do?
  7. I completely disagree. I thought they played pretty well on the road trip, with poor results to show for it. They hit, they got great starting pitching. Their biggest strength all year has been their bullpen, and it failed them 4 times in 8 games. They lost 2 extra innings games in Cincy that easily could have been wins and blew 6-0 and 5-0 games on back to back days. Coulda shoulda woulda doesn't mean jack, but 6-2 would have been very attainable. I still maintain that the most telling stat about the Brewers this year is they have only been swept ONE time (@ SD). I just think it's silly to not have an IGT. If you don't want to read it, don't. But to not have one isn't fair to the fans that aren't ready to commit suicide over a bad string of events on the road trip. I'm just as excited for tomorrow's game as I was for Opening Day. If there IS a IGT, I for one, will view it and post in it just like I would any other game.
  8. $500 bucks. If I win I will donate the money to Brewerfan.net.
  9. Very good point. I would expect a big win tonight.
  10. I have no problems with Cordero. He's one of the best closers in the league who has just hit a bit of a rough spell. The team is 10 games over .500 and in first place. I wouldn't make any drastic changes at all (with the lineup, or the closer). You can't be short-sighted and just look at the last few outings.
  11. That dumb Ned Yost playing Gaffanino and Counsell in the first game of a DH. They'll never be able to score a run. I guess everyone that wanted to stick a fork in the Brewers in Phily, then Texas, then Washington, then Cincinatti......by guaranteeing that the Cubs WILL BE in 1st place by "insert date here" will have to wait a few more weeks.
  12. He's not getting a day off. It's a DH. He will play the 2nd game. Very rarely do you see the same lineup in both games of a DH.
  13. FTJ I respect your posts and your opinion. We disagree on the trade and I have no problem with that. I'm just voicing my opinion, as you are. No hard feelings. I like the trade a lot more than some people, but I don't value mid level prospects the way some people do, especially during a pennant race.
  14. No. He wouldn't. He will never give Ned Yost credit. No matter what he does. It's pretty plain and obvious that the World Series appearance in 1982, coupled with the 10 post season appearances with the Braves has given Ned Yost plenty of experience to manage a team WITH THE TALENT to compete. We've been over this a thousand times. it's a waste of everyone's time to go back and show everyone the talent level of those teams in 2003 and 2004. They were .500 in 2005 and dipped below due to massive injuries (Hardy, Weeks, Sheet, Ohka, etc) last year. There shoud be no doubt in anyone's mind that Ned Yost is proven. And very fit to manage this team to multiple division titles and world series championships. To disagree with this sediment is just being nervous and worrying to worry.
  15. What do you find interesting about that?? That he is managing a team 11 games over .500 in the end of July and has a 3 game in lead in the Central division with a franchise that hasn't made a post season in 25 years. Hasn't finished .500 in 15 years. Has an infield all under the age of 24. Has an outfield of misfits (Hall getting used to Center, Jenkins can't hit lefties, Mench can't really hit righties (although he's actually been better at that lately)). He's got an ace on the DL. He had a number 2 pitcher (cappy) on the DL. He had his starting CF on the DL. And he has a 40 million dollar pitcher with an ERA over 5.00. Yes. it is really "interesting" why anyone would consider him the run away manager of the year. Shocking really.
  16. Havent been this excited for a day of baseball in a long long time!!! 2 down.....5 to go....in the "double sweep" I predicted yesterday. And the Cubs have tough company in Aaron Harang.
  17. It's comments like this that prove some fans dont have any frickin clue.
  18. I did check the stats. Unlike you, I chose to check his stats from his last 4 seasons. You chose to check his stats from the last 4 appearances. If leading the entire major leagues in Holds in the last 4 years doesn't classify as elite set-up man...i don't know what you're looking for in a set up man.
  19. . I think SD got "craptastic" (your word of choice) value for a great middle reliever. They are in a pennant race and they traded him for 3 guys how have never pitched a damn major league inning. Theres a difference between teammates being complimentary of a former teammate after a trade and teammates being downright pissed off after a trade. They were downright pissed. It was the greatest trade melvin has made since he's been here in my opinion. He gave up nothing at all to get something of value. The Sexson trade was OK, but really Moeller, Spivey Counsell, and De La Rosa didn't pan out. Overbay was a nice stop gap and allowed us to get Bush. Cappy has been solid. So essentially that trade was Sexson for Cappy and Bush. Solid trade, but not the fleecing that Brewers fans like to think. Trading Carlos Lee for Cordero was also a good trade, but giving up Lee to get Cordero is essentially giving up an all-star to get one. Giving up 3 minor league players to get a major league proven set up man was an absolute stone-cold lock no brainer.
  20. I completely disagree. I think it was hard for him to get out of that inning because it had just happened. He didn't know for sure if the guy was OK. I wouldn't expect it to affect him one bit.
  21. Bruce, I was also going to comment on this quote. I read it in the paper this morning and couldn't agree with it more. This couldn't be a better quote right here; Thank you Ned Yost for being a manager that knows what he's doing. There is so much that fans don't have a clue about that it drives me away from reading message boards and listening to talk radio after a loss.
  22. I stand corrected. I was just watching the padres/astros tonight and assumed that was his first outing. it was definitely a struggle tonight. I didn't realize he appeared already last night. my bad!!
  23. the line doesn't tell the whole story but it looks like he struggled mightily. couldn't even get out of his 9th inning of work in a 9-1 game.
  24. In fairness to TheCrew, I don't really see how there is even a bad side to this trade. The Brewers traded for one of the best set-up men in the game. They did nothing to hurt their team this year. They might have given up a decent starting pitcher, who MIGHT turn out to be OK, but is currently behind: Sheets Gallardo Parra Capuano Vargas Bush Suppan Villanueva in terms of importance to the franchise. He might never pitch a meaningful inning for the team. Every inning Linebrink appears in this year will be meaningful. There really aren't even 2 sides to this argument. I'm shocked at how much value people are putting on losing 2 marginal prospects and 1 high prospect who is behind a log-jam of pitchers. This is exactly the kind of move the Brewers needed to make and I am sure glad (like the national media, local media, and a lot of fans) that they did.
