  1. this site has cappy throwing 88.42 mph on average, though they call it a sinker. does he throw a 2 or 4 seamer? http://baseball.bornbybits.com/plots/Chris_Capuano.html
  2. bonds is past arbitration, but I don't really know how all the compensation stuff works, either.
  3. So, what is the first item that Prince will endorse? "Hi, I'm professional baseball player Prince Fielder, and I endorse the nutty goodness of wonder-grain quinoa, the only vegetable to produce perfect protein. {fade to tapemeasure HR shot} And I need plenty of protein to power this body {Prince flexes his biceps}.
  4. What does ad hominem mean? Isn't that latin? to the man, I think, is the direct translation. basically it means no personal attacks. argue with what is said, don't say a guy is stupid or stubborn or whatever.
  5. squid jerky? I had a housemate in college from Japan, he ate dried squid, but it was nothing like jerky. More stiff and brittle. He put it in the toaster to warm it up. squids are animals, though. egg whites and dairy would be a way to get protein if his only concern was with the slaughter of the animals.
  6. nashville could probably use a corner OF. I suspect that's where he spends most of this time, unless Heether doesn't get promoted (but even then, there is nunez and nelson who might be playing 3b).
  7. how many pitchers on our staff have ever had 26 quality starts in a season? I can see some trepidation after last season, but I can't see the hatred that has been leveled at Capuano. I can't see hatred leveled at any of the prospective starters, actually. None of them are craptacular, at least as bottom of the rotation guys. Personally, I'm hoping that Estrada was the downfall of some of our pitchers last season. If Capuano goes back to being a 4.00ERA guy that goes 6 or more innings almost every start, I'm fine with that, and I think it's a real possibility. Thing is, Maddox and Yost et al. should have a pretty good idea at the end of ST regarding which guys can do the job and which guys can't. I'm willing to put that responsibility in their hands, where it belongs.
  8. I am NOT Keith Law. Just in case folks were wondering. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  9. personally, I think it would be worse to send parra to nashville than villanueva, since parra is older (and better). clearly I'm in the minority.
  10. Please keep comments like this away from the site. well, at least you didn't give me a third strike for feeble humor. you could have just deleted the comment.
  11. I think the phillies low-balled him and paid the price. if they offered 8 mill, I think they would have won arbi.
  12. They did score over 800 runs last season.
  13. If God didn't want us to eat meat, he wouldn't have made pork so tasty!
  14. hah. you should see my ex-girlfriends. If they didn't have VD, you'd wonder why. hmmm. this doesn't paint me in a good light, does it. Or does it?
  15. I had a rancorous experience on the ESPN MLB board. someone posted a query on what are the top 10 offenses in MLB. I suggested that the brewers should be considered in the top 5 since: last year they were 6th in OPS, 4th in SLG, 1st in HR, most of the important players were young and thus likely to improve, and were in the NL (which depresses all those stats, relative to AL). I had one guy who refused to consider them that high because their batting average was below .270. Of course, he was a tigers fan (and the tigers have a lot of guys with good BA, but don't draw many walks). oh well. I fought the good fight for our boys.
  16. Why would Barry Bonds want to go to Spring Training? It might be that simple why he isn't on a roster.
  17. I don't know if this was posted. The BP top 100 was posted on SI/CNN. Three brewers: 31, LaPorta, 42, Parra, 76 Jeffress. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/baseball/mlb/02/08/goldstein.top100/index.html
  18. tigers have a 140 million payroll, so that's pretty close to unlimited. Do they have much of a minor league system left after the cabrera trade?
  19. this list by dayn perry has melvin #8. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7815398/The-best-at-putting-the-pieces-together
  20. I don't know why the source is even an issue. the issue is what gallardo was supposed to have been doing. If he was wrestling in Mexico under the name "Yo Bullo", just say that. Surely whatever he was doing, there isn't only one possible source for the info.
  21. Berkman is a better hitter than lee or pence have ever been.
  22. I can see how you could say their past production is similar, but I have a harder time with the idea of their "value" being the same, primarily because Weeks has, imo, much higher upside.
  23. I'd like to see a picture of his "friend". What do the groupies look like for a second-year player?
  24. there is nothing a batter can do in any situation that is more favorable than hitting a homerun. well, except maybe making a quick out to ensure the game is official when a rain delay is imminent.
  25. if you think 2007 was a fluke, then you don't think braun can hit 60. If you think it was representative of his true ability, factoring in a full-season and development of power over time, and 60 seems a real possibility sometime in the next few years.
