  1. Isn't Hideki Matsui dealing with the same thing. Maybe it should be called Matsui disease. Or maybe Japanese players have odd shower room rituals to celebrate a win?
  2. I hear Dave Bush is Chuck Norris' bastard son.
  3. I was going to make a joke about that's pretty good for a guy going to Nashville, but the truth is, how can you possibly not put him into the rotation in Mil?
  4. Sheets Gallardo--on DL Suppan Bush Vargas--goes to pen when Yo comes back Parra Villanueva Gagne Riske Mota Torres Turnbow Shouse Capuano either is traded, optioned, or my uncle Vito visits him with a tire iron--DL for the foreseeable future. Let's just keep two guys--the worst two, it is hoped--on the DL at any given time. If Vargas or Villanueva have to go into the rotation full-time due to injury or crappiness, there are several relievers that can take their slot. Vargas and Villy, as relievers, would only go into a game when they were expected to go 2 or more innings. (fixed code: this message seems to have run into the spacing bug that occurs when you edit a post that was initially created in the Quick Reply editor --1992)
  5. There IS an absolute in baseball. There is NO CRYING in baseball. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  6. well, we would have been farther behind the cubs with that rotation, and with villy removed from the pen.
  7. brewerfan, when you figure in the park factors (PHL top hitters park), and strikeouts, I really think the only discussion is if you think 2007 was a fluke for prince. also why compare prince to howard? other than being big black guys that play 1B and hit lots of HR, they aren't that similar.
  8. Lohse's contract is above any of the brewer pitchers in question, particularly considering the bonuses for performance and being traded. He could end up having a very good year in STL. I could see him winning 15 games and having a sub 4.00 ERA (there, that should irritate all those guys that think wins and ERA don't matter!)
  9. What I don't get is comparing Fielder to Howard. Fielder is now better than Howard, and should widen the gap.
  10. Colonel Potter said that once on M*A*S*H, too, but I couldn't tell you which came first. Heathens! It's from a Cole Porter song.
  11. Seems like the Cards could have used Narveson, at least as an option.
  12. more proof that ST means nothing--Chris Burke has been hitting the ball well. over .400 average and 3 HR.
  13. Given that the visitor is supposed to start at least 4 "starters", does that include Gross or Kapler?
  14. I went to the original site and it allowed voting, and when I did, it showed 50% for each montgomery and casper. Wasn't Casper a brewer affiliate back in the day?
  15. I'd say the only way that doesn't happen is if the hitting somehow disappears (which could happen with injuries).
  16. I've seen Wile E. Coyote take much harder hits than Cameron, and Wile E. kept getting up, so I agree with Reed. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  17. maybe they felt guilty about not putting the brewers as one of the top 5 everyday lineups? The bullpen might end up as one of the top 5, but to do that at least a few guys with question marks have to perform well.
  18. how about Gross as the starter, and Gwynn as the defensive replacement?
  19. What? You don't trust every word Doug says? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  20. Parra is a lefty.
  21. I have the hunch that gwynn, gross, and kapler are all going to be on the OD roster, and crazy joe will be in Nashville or another team. I hope that's not how it happens, but that's my hunch.
  22. capuano, bush, and vargas are all much more accomplished than franklin.
  23. Oh ye of little faith. Open "The Door"--I think that's the translation of LaPorta.
  24. yes. how many times has the guy been released? He's not Steve Carlton. One. Just because he's been with several organizations, doesn't mean he's been released. Only his final outright by the Cardinals could be considered as such... Drafted - Selected by St. Louis Cardinals in 2nd Round (53rd overall) of 2000 amateur entry draft (June-Reg) Jun 27,2000 - signed Aug 11,2004 - Claimed on waivers by Rockies from Cardinals Mar 30,2005 - Traded by Rockies with cash to Red Sox for Byung-Hyun Kim. Aug 9,2005 - Claimed off waivers by Cardinals from Red Sox Why did the question require a reference to one of the best 2-3 southpaws of all time? The kid's 26; yes, you can be cautiously optimistic he could be a future contributor -- how's that? You list two times he was waived (2004 and 2005). And, what, the brewers signed him as a MiL free-agent? Is there ANY chance he will be on the 25 man roster this year? I doubt it. If he ever produces for the brewers, it's a long-shot. Nothing wrong about giving him a chance, but no real reason to get excited after about 5 innings or so in ST. Are you saying you are EXCITED about him?
