  1. Nelson can play a little 3b, 1b and the corner OF. and of course DH. I'd rather have branyan because he is more reliable at 3b at the moment.
  2. Nelson is already on the 40-man.
  3. Ned: My guys are really battling. The hitters are getting good AB's, and the pitchers are pitching good, except for a mistake or two. Doug: all righty then, nothing to worry about. good meeting. see you guys later.
  4. even if he gets 10 more wins this season, it would take him at least 3 more to get the next 40.
  5. yeah, but not often 7 in a row. The team is still terrible vs. RHP, though it's improved a little lately.
  6. brewers move up to 7th RPI, 1st in SOS.
  7. CS% of over about 33% is good. It depends a lot on your pitching staff being able to hold runners, though.
  8. Branyan would be a better choice to take a couple starts a week from hall.
  9. Escobar won't be ready before a late 2009 call up. His hitting in the majors would be brutal at this this point.
  10. perhaps you are a better mind reader than I am. Salome has played a good bit of DH in the past, so I think he did believe he was still doing so. I had thought his main problem defensively was air-mailing throws past 2nd base; since he has no errors this season, seems like he has that fixed.
  11. Negatory, unless you know something baseball.reference doesn't know. They have him at catcher in 21 games, and the other two catchers that have played at huntsville show 15 and 1 games played at catcher, and stars have only played 37 games. And last time I looked, he hadn't made an error.
  12. actually, I think this is a great chance to forego the entire "closer" issue, and pitch whoever is rested and appropriate for the batters he'll face. and lets go get branyan, too.
  13. There are regulations regarding bat color? Some are stained and some are "natural", so I don't see why they couldn't be stained pink.
  14. Head and shoulders? Mota, Torres, and Shouse have been money. even big ol' Seth has been good since his first game or two.
  15. Troy Percival's elbow is hanging on by a thread. He's the biggest risk of the lot.
  16. If the brewers bring up a starting pitcher, who do you want it to be, Weaver, DiFelice or Hammond? I'm partial to Hammond; he's really gotten his strikeout rate up this season. If Weaver pitches well in Nashville, I'd guess it will be him, though.
  17. melky is a good player, and quite young. He plays a great OF, and could well develop significant power. He'd allow them to let Cameron walk next season.
  18. SF could challenge sooner rather than later. They spend money. They seemingly made a good sign with Rowand, and they can go out and do it again next offseason.
  19. Lets see what two players get drafted with the linebrink picks. it wasn't just trading those guys for part of a season of linebrink.
  20. you could NOT have predicted that lidge would have a zero ERA. he was at least as big a risk as gagne, coming into the season.
  21. yes. on friday the brewers had the 9th RPI in baseball. all they have to do is improve a little and start playing bad teams to get right back in it.
  22. if branyan is brought up, kapler or gwynn could be sent down. don't need 3 CF (4 w/ hart) on the roster when Cameron is getting all the starts.
  23. the point is not whether making the playoffs would be a good thing or not, but whether it would be a good thing if your team did that, then dismantled the team the next year.
  24. cardinals have the 30th SOS now, and brewers have 3rd, Cubs 17th. RPI, Cubs 8th, brewers 9th, and cardinals 12th.
  25. what? that doesn't make any sense to me. Berkmann isn't going to put up the same numbers in the next 7 seasons that he put up in the last 7.
