  1. Sheets and Cameron could walk after this season, so yeah, I'd take the first trade--at least in a couple of months if the team is still in 4th place. I think Melky could develop into a really nice OF. He fields very well, and has showed a little pop this season. I know nothing about suttle. I know nothing about the Giant prospects you list, so I definitely wouldn't trade Fielder for that haul. I didn't think the giants had a well-stocked minors, so I doubt there is any way I would do that trade. Really, I wouldn't consider either of the trades right now.
  2. Russ, I wasn't really serious. Swapping the lineup around for the heck of it was the only point of pulling random players. "Shake them up and hope something changes" is the best suggestion I can make right now. Even Hart is not hitting to expectations because of his low power output.
  3. The batters are stronger and can drive more pitches. You almost never saw guys get jammed and hit it out of the park. Walks and strikeouts are increased, so more pitches made per inning. The 5 man rotation seems to be an injury thing--protecting your valuable pitchers.
  4. maybe they need to break out the pink bats. Sunday is mother's day, isn't it?

  6. I voted. are the results present somewhere?
  7. He is probably the one to be shipped off. It doesn't look like Blanton is going anywhere. Harden is a great pitcher...when he can actually pitch. I doubt the A's are looking to move him.Anyone want Eveland back? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  8. I suppose you could get dunn and freel and have freel play 3b, at least most of the time. Or have a dillon/branyan platoon at 3b.
  9. I believe Jeffress served 5 games of the suspension last season, so 45 this season. A couple more weeks, I guess.
  10. just put all the names of the position players in a hat and draw them out in the order they will hit. we have enough guys that can play multiple positions that you'd typically have someone who could play each position. Here's a first random try: 2b Rickie Weeks 3b Craig Counsell CF Tony Gwynn C Jason kendall LF Joe dillon ss JJ Hardy 1b Prince Fielder RF Gabe Kapler That looks pretty ugly, but play a game, if the guy does OK, keep him in that batting slot and fielding position. If he doesn't do well, select a new random guy.
  11. he's only averaging 91.5 pitches per start, so his pitches are being limited by his ineffectiveness.
  12. The silver lining is that the team is 15-16 with that offensive production and pitching.
  13. Harden is coming off the DL after good results in his rehab starts. Oakland will have an extra starter.
  14. I'd say both numbers should be higher if roster filler=guy who won't have a major league career. However, sometimes it's hard to know which players are the wheat and which are the chaff.
  15. He was named the southern league's outstanding offensive player for the week. Vote for him to win the title for all of the minors. He was far in the lead when I voted. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080505&content_id=394804&vkey=news_milb&fext=.jsp
  16. While it is true there is no top-of-the-rotation prospect anywhere near ready for Milwaukee, there are several guys that project as 4/5 type starters and several reliever prospects, including at least a couple of strong closer prospects. I'd hope to get a legitimate top of the rotation prospect or two in the draft.
  17. I wouldn't mind a deal to get Vasquez. I have a plan to get him relatively cheaply. Record someone impersonating Vasquez's voice saying bad things about Ozzie, then play the recording to Ozzie. That should get him on the list for removal. Worst case scenario? Ozzie is fired and we hire him to replace Yost. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  18. Just for comparison, Gamel and LaPorta are far out-performing Prince and Braun in Huntsville, and are slightly out-performing Miguel Cabrera when he was in the Southern league before he was called up straight from AA to MLB with the Marlins. If they keep going at this rate up to the all-star game, there is no way they should stay at Huntsville, and their bats would be ready for the Majors. Would you rather have LaPorta or Kapler or Dillon? Gamel is a bit more problematic, as his glove doesn't play in the majors yet.
  19. Greinke was on my list of guys I'd love to get during the preseason. He's been too good this season to be available, imo. I don't think Gorz. or Snell are worth a Laporta or Gamel, and I sure wouldn't want my pitchers to be facing one of those guys in their division for the next 10 years.
  20. Completely false? The team is 10-20, that's terrible. That is the point of truth. What was nonsensical was the notion it was part of some clever plan.
  21. my point was just how wretched the brewers hitters have been, not any statement about theriot who has had hot starts in the past. At least SOMEONE should be hitting better than Theriot.
  22. Before the season, there were several posters that said that Theriot was a Bad player, not just mediocre. He has a better OPS than EVERY qualified brewer hitter. Just providing a point of reference.
  23. Isn't tool #1 hitting for average? By "fallen by the wayside" do you mean they are proving they are no longer tracking towards the majors, or just a bump in the road?
  24. Where is the justification that LaPorta is a significantly limited defensive player? He's not making errors, he is taking good routes to balls (if not particularly speedy routes), and by all reports has acclimated to the OF. If Braun was injured, I believe LaPorta would be called up.
  25. A prospect doesn't have to be in AAA to be valuable.
