  1. Why is it assumed that dale is coming back. he certainly hasnt impressed me and I think we can do better. Why not take a shot at Davey Johnson and Bobby Valentine before handing the job to Dale who has proven nothing.
  2. I am very sad for Ben that he cant be a part of the playoffs. Whether you love him like I do or hate him like many seem to Ben Sheets has been a great Brewer for 8 seasons. I really wish things could have ended better for him.
  3. This is the greatest day of my sports life. I am just so happy right now that words cant express it fully. Thank you Brewers and lets go out and beat the phillies. Win or lose at this point I am so proud to be a fan of this team.
  4. To be completely honest I still expect this team to somehow fall short of making the playoffs whether that means losing tomorrow or Monday. I have no faith in this team because they have let me down too many times. If we dont make the playoffs this will be the most disappointing season ever for me.
  5. I think the hate for Sheets on this site is completely uncalled for. He has been a great Brewer that has given his heart and soul to this team. Personally I hope he somehow comes back but if he doesnt I wish him well as long as he doesnt sign with the yankees, cubs, or mets. Thank you Ben Sheets for everything you have meant to the team these last 6 yrs and I hope you are here for 6 more.
  6. The sooner Dale "small ball" Sveum is gone the better. As much as I couldnt stand Yost at least he wasnt having the team bunt all game long.
  7. Invader, the reason Hall shouldnt have been bunting is because the pitcher had already walked the first two batters of the inning and was nowhere near the plate. Why give them an out when he hasnt shown an ability to throw a strike.
  8. Is Sveum a lock for this job if this team somehow squeezes into the playoffs? I think it would be a huge mistake to keep him in any event because he has shown already that he is strategically inept.
  9. Calling for bunts from many of your best hitters like Hardy and Hart every time a runner is on base with no one out is flat out stupid. Its one thing to have lousy hitters like Counsell and Kendall bunting but its another to let good hitters like Hardy bunt in the middle innings. Bunting should only be done by pitchers and extremely weak hitters unless its the 8th or 9th inning and you only need one run. Lets remember that you only get 27 outs in a game and giving away as much as 3 or more per night is just mathematical suicide.
  10. Giving up outs is almost never a smart strategy unless its a pitcher or Counsell/Kendall doing the bunting. When a pitcher walks two consecutive batters and cant find the plate it is lunacy to send Bill Hall up to bunt the runners over. This is how you get a pitcher out of a jam. Sveum just isnt very smart and I really hope he doesnt come back next season as a result of his strategic lunacy. Give me Davey Johnson or Bobby Valentine, two strategic genuises who dont believe in bunting 10 times a game.
  11. There is absolutely no excuse for Hall bunting after two consecutive where the pitcher was nowhere near the plate. Sveum is just giving up outs every time we have a baserunner and that is ridiculous. I dont care if we win the world series I still dont want Sveum back next year; he is actually more strategically challenged than Ned.
  12. Ive seen enough to Sveum to know that I dont want him back next year. Between his decisions to bat Cameron leadoff and Counsell second to his refusal to pinch hit for Kendall and Counsell in key late inning situations make me say that he is as bad if not worse than Yost. He also likes to bunt way too much so I say let him go regardless of how we finish.
  13. Yes Cameron has been absolutely terrible this month and only a dope like Sveum would bat him leadoff but Cameron is a very streaky hitter. We may or may not be able to upgrade from him offensively but he has been great defensively on a team full of terrible defensive players. I would probably bring him back next year on his defense alone.
  14. The fact that Attanasio had Suppan over for dinner with a slide show ready for him tellls me that it was he and not Melvin that wanted to sign him. I think that Mark A watched the playoffs that year and got giddy about the possibility of signing a "big game" pitcher. I hated the signing at the time and I hate it more now.
  15. If Attanasio was gonna fire Yost because of fan pressure he would have done it after last season when most fans wanted him gone.
  16. This guy is flat out the worst third base coach I have ever seen. How anyone could send Fielder home today or JJ the other day is just beyond my comprehension. I thought Dale was bad but this guy is ridiculous.
  17. He doesnt seem to be swinging freely and easily anymore. Braun has a rather violent follow through normally and I just havent seen the same swing from him this month. I definitely think he is injured because he isnt this bad.
  18. Not only is Counsell in the lineup today but he has been moved up to hit second. Never thought I would say this but Dale is even more clueless than Ned. This nightmare cant end soon enough for me.
  19. Counsell and Kendall are the two worst offensive players in baseball and neither should be playing everyday.
  20. This might be the dumbest rumor I have ever heard. No way are the Brewers trading a 40 HR guy and a top flight shortstop for a good but not great young pitcher. I wouldnt even make this deal for Lincecum much less cain.
  21. So Parra has gone over his innings limit and we are letting him get rocked in garbage time. Great way to handle a young pitcher Dale Yost.
  22. Stop wasting Parras arm. We need him for 2009 and beyond.
  23. I am a fine person living in New York.
  24. Lets see 2 games behind the Phillies and a game and a half behind the Mets being 2 behind in the loss column. I will check in to see how the team is doing but I am done caring for this season. In some ways I would rather go back to the days where September baseball is meaningless than have to suffer like this due to the choking that this team is doing. I cant imagine a more disappointing season than this.
  25. Teams with limited payrolls cannot afford to pay the likes of Suppan 4/42. Throw in the fact that the contract is backloaded and you have an absolute albatross. As far as Suppan being a big game pitcher how well did he do in Philly. A rotation of gallardo,Parra, Bush, Suppan, and Villy or McClung is just not gonna get the job done.
