  1. Why would Tom mention in his article that Bill asked to go down before the all star break? If this wasn't true why wouldn't Tom just not have mentioned anything? Bill was asked to go down, not the other way around. Bill refused when asked earlier is what Tom wrote.
  2. Gamel's terrible hitting in Milwaukee=Escobar's wonderful hitting in AAA Are you sure you didn't mean: Gamel's terrible hitting in Milwaukee = Gamel's terrible hitting in AAA
  3. Bannister with a solid .916 OPS in 12 AB's with the Mets in 2006 (3 doubles). Could be a +hitting pitcher as well. I wouldn't mind giving up three or four of our AAA arms for him. Maybe all the AAA arms for that matter.
  4. Gamel is probably the most expendable top prospect we have. Too bad Melvin called him up and killed his value by exposing the giant hole in his swing... the entire inside portion of the plate.
  5. French is a decent SP prospect that got his feet wet with the Tigers this year. His last outing on 7/28 was not good against the Ranges, but all other outing were decent, if not good.
  6. Maybe the Cubs were selling high on Hart, but I liked him better than Grabow or Gorzelanny.
  7. Thanks for the clarification Marques.
  8. Or Canseco could just be blowing smoke. . . This is possible. But he hasn't been proven wrong about any of his accusations to date. I believe he is talking about Henderson. I also agree Canseco is in a constant fight to keep himself relevant. He's the king rat, but rats usually spill beans of truth.
  9. Who's to say that it was called down the middle?Obviously I didn't say it.
  10. Another fastball call by Kendall on a 2-0 count that gets hammered.
  11. I didn't see it, but Provus seemed to think it was clearly a swing.
  12. Why? These "anonymous sources" know that what they're doing is BLATANTLY illegal, so what credibility do they have? I am reluctant to start believing that government lawyers are making up facts, leaked illegally or not. Maybe someone with a conscious believes the public deserves to know who was cheating.
  13. It makes no sense to want to do that, for several reasons. How do you know that the Cardinals or Rockies weren't also using PEDs? I don't understand the holier-than-thou attitude that many fans take about this. Every team has had numerous users. There is no team's fanbase that should really feel smug about these (or similar) revelations. It was partially tongue in cheek, but I go by what I know. I now know for a fact these two were using at the very least through 2003. I don't know any Cards or Rox that were using as of this time. I don't understand how some can assume others were using when these names are leaked. You can go with your speculation, I will go by what I know.
  14. "Five others have been tied to positive tests from that year: Barry Bonds, Alex Rodriguez, Sammy Sosa, Jason Grimsley and David Segui. Bonds, baseball's career home runs leader, was not on the original list, although federal agents seized his 2003 sample and had it retested. Those results showed the presence of steroids, according to court documents." and "Asked about the 2003 drug test on Thursday in Boston, Ortiz shrugged. 'I'm not talking about that anymore,' he said. 'I have no comment.'" are my favs of the article. Why would Big Papi Pump want to talk about his steroid use? How many roiders actually want to talk about their drug use? Its funny and sad at the same time. Too bad MLB can't take away the Red Sox titles, since the majority of their offensive production was juicing. Finally, the "speculation" tag to Bonds roid use should be removed for good. He did test positive, so throw "hasn't been caught" out the window. His use regimen was also clearly documented by the SF journalists.
  15. The rankings of 2, 3, 4, and 10 were from preseason rankings. Mid-season reports place Drabek, Taylor, and Brown ahead of Carrasco. By the way, the same system that ranked Carrasco #2 for the Phillies, ranked him as 52nd overall. Pretty underwhelming. Here are the season stats of the Indians' acquisitions: Carrasco: 6-9, 5.18 ERA in 114.2 IP with 112/ 38 SO/BB Donald: .236/ .297/.332/.629 with 1 HR and 6 SB with 14/53 BB/SO Marson: .294/.382/.370/.751 with 1 HR and 3 SB with a 30/40 BB/SO Knapp: 2-7, 4.01 ERA in 85.1 IP with 111/39 SO/BB The best talent of the bunch is Knapp, who's in low-A and battling arm fatigue. Then you've got Crarasco's high ERA, Marson's low SLG, and Donald's worthless OPS. Nicely done. Its clear why the Phillies shifted their focus to the Indians and Cliff Lee. Almost as good at this point in his career as Halladay, for much less. Trades like this make me even more angry over Jeffress throwing away his career over some herb. Not only is he not progressing to help the Brewers, but he kills his trade value at the same time.
  16. I heard he was traveling around looking for a starting pitcher or two. Surly there is someone out there, undiscovered, that can pitch in this rotation. The Doorman will find him/her.
  17. I was thinking the same thing. Granted I do not know the Phillies farm all that well, but it seems to shed a ton of light on how much JP Ricciardi overplayed his Halladay hand.
  18. FTJ's got a point. While losing "bad Soup" might have a silver lining, the problem is who pitches whatever innings he misses. It doesn't really matter at this point. Any pitcher willing to toss 4 innings while only giving up 5 or 6 runs will bring the same result as Suppan. Does it really matter who pitches? Narveson, Cody, Burns... its all the same. Its not like expectations of a Suppan replacement will be raised or lowered. The Crew are in a bad place right now, even Villanueva's 90 mph fastball look much slower than Balester's 91 mph fastball. The team is funktified.
  19. Just wait until deep into some games you will all see that he is a stud. I believe it. Now he just needs to stay healthy for a few years.
  20. A guy sitting behind me asked why Dillard was batting in the 7th. I told him it was because he hadn't given up 3 runs yet. I am definitely on the same page with Macha, but too bad its a sarcastic page in a Garfield novel.
  21. Can't believe you forgot Russell Branyan.
  22. Five earned runs in four innings is terrible, no matter how its sliced and diced. But yeah, I was imagining worse. Woe is Brewer fans, woe.
  23. This is what I was thinking. If Melvin can flip him for more than he gave up to get him its a no-brainer.
  24. Gallardo will be fine, as long as he stays away from a Cub sliding into a stampeding Prince.
