  1. The fact that Branyan is not in a Brewers uniform this year is just another reason to spite Bill Hall. Not a day goes by in 2009 where I don't wish Bill Hall would have put up a mediocre to sub-mediocre year in 2006.
  2. Steve made some really great points overall. At the end of the day, I really wish it would have been the MLB test he failed. But then again, he is pretty bad this year. At least he has given the Cubs' fans an excuse (albeit small) as to why.
  3. The moderators here are the ones that keep this place from devolving into the maelstrom of jsonline. The rules about "game over" posts in IGTs are pretty clear here, whether you agree with them or not (I personally don't, but it's a small quibble for such a great well-run site/forum). Regarding in-game comments, there is a certain amount of fun at jsonline that can no longer be found here. It used to be here, but there are too many mods now. Granted, there is a lot of maelstrom at jsonline. But I have no problem blocking that out. NSBB also has the fun factor in in-game threads. They have a more liberal moderating approach that would suit my needs. The only problem is I hate the Cubs.
  4. Last night FSN showed a graphic that had the pitching matchups as Gallardo vs Cain, McClung vs Zito and Suppan vs Sanchez. Huh, I saw Lincecum on Sunday on Yahoo today but the Giants' website confirns that Lincecum goes Monday against the Cardinals and we get Sanchez...a huge swing of a break for us. The Giants are staying with their 5-man, and thankfully had the day off on Thursday. Although it gives us Cain, the Brewers will miss Lincecum. I can't wait to see tonight's game. Good chance of being a dandy!
  5. The game is far from over, and that post toes the line of the "game over" rules we have for IGTs. The Twins getting two runs back is discouraging, but IGTs aren't designed to be vent threads. *sigh* I really used to like it around here, but this is out of control controlling.
  6. This can't be argued one bit. I have to wonder what Macha was thinking.
  7. Kendall seems to be struggling behind the plate. I thought he was in there for his defense?
  8. Billy didn't figure out he was the SS in 2006 until after the year was over. He was still thinking super sub. If not, he at least knew Hardy would again be the SS in 2007, and he was just a plug.
  9. Too bad Billy can't just party like its 2006 again. Super sub Billy - that's the role he was successful in. He has run out of leverage to whine and pout about it now. It is his destiny.
  10. Bill Hall is barely treading water against LHP. But why discard him and bring up a minor league player to super sub when Bill Hall himself can super sub. At least that way you are getting a minor return on the investment in such an impaired asset. Regardless of Bill Hall's splits against LHP this year, last year, the year before, yadda yadda, he can play adequate defense at multiple positions and could be spelling players when needed. I would throw out the splits at this juncture, realizing he is inept at the plate against any handed pitcher, and just have him be the highly paid super sub he is.
  11. Unfortunately, I was at that game. Today, my wife was at the game without me. At least I could drink cheaply here at home.
  12. Nicely done. I didn't even think we could say "pimp" here. Pimp on, brother!
  13. "Does ESPN really just hate the idea of the Brewers making the playoffs again, or do they really think this team is just not for real at all, and will likely be in fourth place by August?" I think its a bit of both. ESPN is nothing more than a regional, east coast network that gives the occasional shout out to the rest of the country. All I can say is thank God for the MLB network. While they have some issues with talking heads, at least they cover all the teams.
  14. Hart, Hardy, and Cameron have been screaming for a day on the bench for two weeks. Macha finally caved.
  15. Can't pledge. Too old and washed up. Now, if Nolan Ryan can be talked out of the Ranger organization and into Miller Park I might have something to sign.
  16. I see no body really posts or reads much here anymore, but Jody Gerut is the prize for all the haters of TGJ (and I know there are a bunch of them here). What a wonderful prize.
  17. I think Cam is feeling sorry for Billy, so he decided to try to take some of the heat off.
  18. Sums up my feelings on the subject nicely. While it doesn't tell me everything I need to know about him, it paints a good portion of the picture. And honestly, if I could've bet on those here that would have his back, I would have won some nice prizes.
  19. Boy, that's not a smug tone at all. Cops are never smug, or very well versed in the art of CYA.
  20. "Say you like some chick, she's cute, nice bod, you finally get invited over to her place, and she's got like 1,000 unicorn figurines around her place. I would be out of there in a minute, because that's just plain crazy. I equate this story about the "youngster" to a chick like that. [/i] Now imagine that chick had a cabinet full of guns and ammo =( There comes a point when it all becomes an unhealthy obsession, and imo Nick has crossed that line long ago. And yes, I have SEEN Nick push children out of his way to get a ball. Needless to say it was inadvertent, still shameful. The changing of clothes and accessories to enhance his bargaining power over visiting players is not right either, imo. It borders on conning. I am not a fan of Nick, and when I see him at the park he ironically makes me feel unhappy.
  21. It looks like its going to rain for a long, long time. The front is really slow moving, and stretches down to Texas. I think it is safe to say they are not coming back out. Too bad Macha didn't have a meteorologist handy, he could have thrown out Julio for two innings.
  22. They shouldn't have even bothered starting this game, and that 2 run homer will end up not counting.
