  1. Yet another disappointment from Dish network. I should never have left TWC.
  2. I can't pass on the opportunity to agree with some correct opinions... Brian Anderson is terrible! I would rather just watch with the sounds of the game without constant blabberous, inane comments. Really, I couldn't see that that was a single to left? Flare here, flare there, every where a flare. His fake, blatant homerism also drives me nuts. And I would think BA would be able to judge fly balls at this point in his career. He's called a few hundred games now, time to read the outfielders or something. I wonder if he is standing up every time a fly ball is hit to the outfield. If there was a was to mute the commentary without sacrificing the sounds of the game, I would be all over that option. For those who compare BA to other team's announcers, who cares if they are as bad or worse. So they are bad also, it doesn't make me feel like BA is decent because he isn't as bad as others. Other than BA being terrible, great win and great series. Go Brewers.
  3. Braden Looper is a professional major league pitcher. Manny Parra, please watch and learn from Braden Looper.
  4. I wish Ryan Braun would stop doing interviews with this donkey.
  5. A six run inning after two out, after last nights debacle, is about as bad as it could get this early in the season. If this team doesn't come back and win this game, I see big time trouble brewing with fans. Walks with a 4 run lead is unnerving. I can't take much more.
  6. I blame Suppan. He started this nonsense. I don't think the Brewers can average 9 runs a game, therefore I think its going to be a looooooooong season.
  7. Not sure if I was trying to level anyone, but I don't see how anything about this piece was obviously satire. If I read it as an Astros fan assuming he is joking, I am utterly insulted. If I read it as any other fan assuming its serious, I am scratching my head. Either way, a piece like this should constitute a written warning, if not an outright dismissal of a below par sportswriter. Then again, maybe the Astros and their fans deserve this guy.
  8. If he wasn't serious with this post, it wasn't apparent.
  9. "The Reds and Pirates are headed in the right direction. I have no idea if they'll take a big leap forward this year or next, but both franchises appear to have the right people in place." Soooooooo, this guy calls himself a professional? He just ruined any credibility with his notion the Pirates are heading in the right direction. Who else in all the baseball world is saying the Pirates are going to make a leap into contention this year or next? Richard Justice, if it wasn't official last year it sure is now, you are a joke.
  10. This is a good slot for the Brewers. When I think about how far they have come the last four years, it reminds me of the 92-96 Packers, and we all know how that turned out. Hopefully a Peavy-type deal during the season can turn that "-" into a "+"
  11. I have no problems with a banner commemorating last year's accomplishment. However I hope it doesn't lead to trotting out a 50 year-old Ryan Braun to relive that cherished franchise moment 25 years back. Unless they also trot out 77 year-old Robin Yount and have them all wear split retros, with the 82 and 08 uniforms split 50/50 right and left. That would be fun.
  12. My hopes are not high on Suppan reversing his four-year long decline. If I had to bet, I would put his season ERA in the 5.25-5.50 range. Giving him the opportunity to start more games than any other pitcher on the roster seems criminal. Is it because he is the highest paid pitcher (sad) on the roster?
  13. Yeah, he should be the #5 starter to give him one or two less starts. I guess one can make the argument he is #4, which also makes at least one less start than #1-2. For a season in a vacuum, #1-2 make 33 starts, while #3-5 make 32. But the season is not in a vacuum, and book it that DiFelice, McClung, etc. will be making quite a few starts. Bush should be starting the season, imo. Either way, lots of runs needed. Cross your fingers Gallardo, Parra, and Bush stay healthy this year, because after those 3 the cupboard is bare.
  14. I am pretty sure the first one was not a season starting rotation in 07 or 08. Edit: my bad, it was last year's rotation due to Gallardo starting the season on the DL.
  15. I'll give you Looper is better than Vargas, marginally. But there is no Gallardo or Para to go to when someone needs to be replaced. Since this thread is about Suppan getting the opening day nod, I will stand by my statement. If Jeff Suppan is this team's opening day starter, they are going to need to score a boatload of runs this year.
  16. Any way you slice it, this team is going to have to score a boatload of runs to stay in the race this year. I'm talking franchise record setting runs. The starting pitching just isn't there. I kind of wish Macha would have Yo starting the 4th game of the year, but that is just me being selfish. Here's to hoping Suppan doesn't start the season 0-2 with a 7.50 ERA.
  17. the next manager talk should include "see the ball, hit the ball" Stop Thinking!! Good point. Seeing how many called third strikes and swings at pitches way out of the zone the Brewers have amassed this year, it looks like many of our hitters are guessing more than they should be and trying to hit home runs all the time. Prince could have taken the walk on a pitch almost 2 feet out of the zone in the 9th. The pressure would have been even greater on Lidge at that point. There are situations where they just need to go back to fundamentals and put the bat on the ball, especially when down 0-2 and 1-2. Home run swings should not happen in these counts, nor should guessing of pitches. If its close to the zone, put the bat on it. Easier said than done of course, but I believe all the other teams in the playoffs do a better job than the Brewers in this aspect (after watching only 2 other games of course, big sample). Gobias, great "Day Man" avatar. Greatest episode ever.
  18. It's not for elimination, but I consider this one a must win if the Brewers have any hope of advancing. Please be patient with Meyers, and take a page from the Dodgers book they wrote last night. Walks + HRs = more runs.
  19. Hamels zone better shrink the way Gallardo's just did.
  20. If not the Brewers, then the Dodgers (good to see Torre happy and away from the evil empire) for me in the NL. The Rays followed closely by the White Sox in the AL. A Brewers v. Rays/White Sox World Series would be ideal for me.
  21. Not only am I stuck in downtown Chicago with Cubs and White Sox fans, but I have a work meeting all afternoon. Hopefully the Brewers can pull off game one, so I can listen to CC pitch them to a 2-0 series lead on my way home tomorrow. GO CREW!!
  22. Thank you very much 2008 Vent Thread. You were always there to listen to me during the bad times. I will always remember you.
  23. Thank God the gorgeous ESPNHD is blacked out in favor of the crappy non-HD FSN. This feels so un-American!!
