    I would not trade Turang or Kelly for Bell. Especially Kelly. I personally think something like Joe Gray Jr and Victor Castaneda would be about right. Maybe a third in that neighborhood.

    If a team traded the farm for Soto today, had him for two playoff runs and maybe recoups 60% of the return by trading him with one full season of control remaining?

    Hey Mods. If you want to keep this forum the top quality it has proven to be, you may want to be proactive and do something about the same 2-3 posters who are in every single thread filling up 9 pages of pessimism over and over again. And pessimism is really an understatement. I’m all for being skeptical from time to time, but this thread just takes the cake. I just wanted some honest knowledgeable recaps of the picks and instead I had to endure hot garbage from a couple of guys. I am sure there will be 10 more pages of it today as well. Is there a block button? Thanks.

    Two moments in the mid 2000s standout to me. One is the foul ball HR a young Corey Hart hit in his first and only AB in 2004. The other was the Saenz game. Both played one game that year. Saenz was magical and never came back, Hart struck out on what could have been an equally magical appearance. And then their careers went in absolute opposite directions. Thanks for the article.

    I was at that TRats game today. Kelly was unbelievably good. Like I have never seen a minor league pitcher pitch that good before.

    I mean if you want a list of young brewers to watch that could appear this year. It’s probably Small and of course Ashby is already up. otherwise the brewers have a nice collection of outfielders but they are about 2 years away. Garrett Mitchell and Sal Frelick. SS Brice Turang if there is an injury in the MI.

    I’m pretty confident saying this team’s offense isn’t good. Further, that is isn’t good enough to win multiple playoff series. That it is good enough to make the playoffs. Maybe even win the division. That it isn’t bottom 10. That by my estimation it is about 7th in the NL. NL teams offense better than Milwaukee in no particular order; Atlanta, NYM, Philly, STL, Dodgers, Padres. only 6 teams make playoffs so the pitchers have to stop walking so many batters - especially the starters - to make up the difference. last nights lineup on paper was one of the worst I can remember in the past 5+ years.

    Watching Hiura last year, the dude swung and missed a ton on back-to-back low 90s fastballs in the upper part of the zone. I remember thinking these were not blow me away fast balls it was guys sitting 90-92. Hope he can figure that out.

    I would have to guess the cost would start with Mitchell Turang and Ashby. If Pitt would even trade him within the division. Although didnt they give Chicago Aramis Ramirez for peanuts?

    I know this would be counter to what the Brewers typically do, but what about trading for Eric Hosmer and taking on the last 3 years of the salary? For example, SD pays this year and Brewers take the rest of the contract at 3 for 39million, This might be something San Diego would look into if they signed Freeman. Could probably had for a AAA bullpen arm or a low level lottery ticket. I also dont know about this fielding, he was once a 4 time GG winner though. Rowdy can DH or they can swap when needed with McCutchen taking the other half of the DH at bats vs RHP. Doesnt provide the power Voit does, but might be a better contact hitter on an all or nothing team

    would like to see Freeman in Boston just to mess with Yankees and keep him out of NL as it looks like only NL destination is LA.

    I liked the idea of the DH coming out when the starting pitcher is removed. I do not like this rule of being able to go to first on ANY pitch that hits the dirt. Seems a bit unfair if the catcher gets crossed up in a 0-0 count and the pitch goes to the backstop and the guy is on first base now with a "hit" Also, what happens when the runner "flinches" and makes a move to first base instinctively but then realizes almost immediately its a bad idea and doesnt go?

    Point/counterpoint - Maybe out of sight out of mind for my soon-to-be-9 year old, but if you wanted to actually use the area, I agree it’s a terrible idea. folks who post here are diehards, we don’t sit in terrace level. Families often do as do casuals. So I think it will get plenty of use up there, just by a different group of people.

    I dont think trading for Olson and then extending him looks bad at all. I am sure the Braves made a good offer to Freddie, maybe even a 5 year offer - that would take him through his age 37 season. Sounds like Freeman wants 6? And Olson is entering his prime while Freeman is about the exit his prime. It is true that Freeman has been the better hitter, but when you factor in age, power, obp and defense I think it might be fair to say that in years 1-3 of the Olson contract that he would provide similar value as Freeman and in years 4-6 provide considerably more value than Freeman will. Not signing him to an extension after giving up all those prospects would be a bad move, IMO.

    My thoughts briefly. I don’t want the Brewers to leave. Paying a small tax is worth it. I don’t think any professional team should be able to get public money without opening up their books. In fact. With MLBs anti trust exemption, I feel like there could be a way for congress to include in any anti trust exemption that asking for and receiving public funding requires full transparency and open books for ALL MAJOR LEAGUE franchises in any major league city or prospective major league city. Basically it should be - yeah we have no problem helping you out, but let’s see how much help you need.
