  1. Jeff Suppan will be called up by the Padres to pitch Wednesday afternoon against the Brewers. Cory Luebke is being skipped because of tightness in his left elbow. Suppan, 37, has posted a rough 12.15 ERA and 3.00 WHIP in 6 2/3 innings this season at Triple-A Tuscon and should be avoided like the plague in fantasy leagues. 2. how is anything related to Ryan Braun relevant to the Clemens case?
  3. If wanted his legacy and greatness to be known by future generations he is probably better off remaining banned. He basically has become a folk hero to many baseball fans, when if he had simply played and been admitted he would have long been forgotten.
  4. I would say that baseball, unlike almost any other sport is a game passed down from father to son. With fewer and fewer fathers involved in kids lives, baseball doesnt survive. Divorce rate hovers near 50% nationally and the number of children born out of wedlock in the African American community is unbelievable.
  5. It seems that Melvin executed the Braun, Weeks and Gallardo contracts at the right time. Had he waited, Braun would be looking for Votto money, Weeks for Phillips money and Gallardo for Cain money. Well done, Melvin. THe worry here though is that we might have to wait for these new extensions to "go bad" before we can make a good deal again. Baseball works in cycles like that. A bunch of guys sign longterm big money deals, and everybody wants to point to their deals for their next contracts. In my opinion, the only way a general manager can bargain down is if he is able to point out that the contract handed out previously by another team, is now really bad and strapping that team because the player is way underperforming. So it might be 3-5 years before we can get a nice bargain again, which is fine since we have all or most of your young players locked up anyway.
  6. I love those picture of Uke!
  7. Playing with Pujols is always a good one.
  8. From adam McCalvy via Rotoworld: Brewers GM Doug Melvin said the Brewers will allow Shaun Marcum to reach free agency. The writing seemed to be on the wall since this winter. Marcum is slated for free agency after the season. Perhaps Milwaukee is in wait-and-see mode with Marcum, who faded down the stretch last year. This seems like a lose-lose situation for the Brewers, however. If he has a big season, Marcum will likely price himself out of Milwaukee. If he happens to struggle, he'll simultaneously become affordable for the Brewers going forward while hurting their playoff chances in 2012. So Melvin has stated that they arent going to resign Marcum?? Why would he say that?
  9. Bo should have coached that one up a bit better. Syracuse was overplaying behind the arc, we we acted like we were down 3. They are kids, Bo should have drawn up a set play, something back door for a layup, that was awful.
  10. The guy from the Rays is by far the best.
  11. I use X to swing, and X to pitch after I use X,O,Square or Triangle to pick my pitch. I am really old school.
  12. That Yahoo article was very anti-Braun if you ask me. They basically say that not only was it a technicality, but that MLB didnt violate protocol, there was just nothing in the drug program rules that contemplated a closed FedEx on a Saturday night.
  13. Prince Fielder's reaction was beyond strange. He acted like he had heard anything and basically said "I guess that's good for Ryan" Very strange for someone who has played with Ryan for the past 5 years.
  14. Great hair. sounds like the person who collected the sample was the same who was supposed to send it out. Also, not a Brewer employee, not in Braun's camp, etc.
  15. The most important thing is that it wasnt a technicality. A technicality would be that the sample was late and that was all. If that was all Braun would be facing a 50 game suspension. The facts appear to be that the sample was late and Braun's team was able to demonstrate, consistently, that the extra time sitting around in some guys house would case the sample to break down in a fashion that would case the eleveted ratio. That isnt being reported enough.
  16. This should be binding arbitration, ESPN's talk of appealing to federal court is posturing. They know they cant, it would be a breach on contract and would be dismissed summarily.
  17. ESPN now retracting the DNA story, saying they talked to MLB source and that Braun offered, MLB accepted and then Braun backed off. That may be the case, but at this point I dont believe anything MLB or ESPN say.
  18. Like I said, if it is announced today - suspension, tomorrow, no suspension. Although.....everyone has said that as SOON as MLB finds out, they would announce it, ASAP, per the rules, no frills, just business. With all of this hulabaloo the past 24-36 hours, it does seem like this is being "planned" and withheld longer than it needs to be...that is fishy. Why would MLB wait to announce it JUST before he reports, almost in a screw you sort of way to put a damper on him in camp?? Seems odd that MLB would hold it.
  19. If it is coordinated with his arrival I am going for not suspended, if it is today at somepoint, I am leaning toward suspension.
  20. I reluctantly saw the Artist this past weekend. I have to say, I did enjoy it quite a bit.
