  1. Villar gets a start today? I better go buy a lottery ticket.
  2. If we don't want to give up the farm, literally, for Machado that's fine. But we need a bat, it's painfully obvious. We cannot let the deadline go by with our only offensive acquisition being something like Miller/Saladino. I'm warming more and more to the idea of Realmuto, even though it will be expensive.
  3. If you would have told me at the start of the year we would have 5 all-stars and none of them would be named Santana, Braun, Thames, Knebel or Shaw I would have laughed in your face. Congrats to our guys!
  4. Orf, Lopez and Peralta out. Miley, Asher and Hauser in. When was the last time Woodruff pitched? Seems like he would have been ideal to come up.
  5. The Yankees always seem to get whatever they want, it sucks.
  6. I still say it ends up being Ortiz, Medeiros and Phillips for Machado. Obviously Baltimore is holding out for more than just Ortiz and Phillips, but we're obviously not going to throw in Burnes/Peralta/Woodruff either. Medeiros seems like a good addition to a package, especially if Stearns wants to get a deal done now before the Yankees or Red Sox offer up something too good for the Orioles to refuse.
  7. Aguilar not making this team would be a travesty. I will admit I was a little surprised that Yelich made it, but obviously I am glad he did.
  8. I like to think outside of the box, but I'm pretty sure the Shaw was just practicing over there because on some huge shifts he is actually over there and the SS is the only one on that side of the field. I am pretty confident that Shaw would be horrible at 2B. You are probably right. I also thought that maybe he was taking balls at 2B because his wrist was worse off than we thought and they wanted to save him the long throws from 3B. I know it's just a pipe dream, but I want us to make a big splash and while Machado certainly fits that bill, the whole 2-3 month rental concept scares me a bit.
  9. .264/.320/.474/.795 is his line away from Coors over his career. I like him a lot but his numbers are so inflated. Very true, I would assume his numbers would go up a bit though, moving from the NL West which is full of pretty big parks to the Central which seems to a lot more hitter friendly. He also plays some amazing defense which could help out our potentially questionable playoff rotation. There's a 95% chance it wouldn't happen, but it's nice to dream, lol.
  10. I found it interesting that a week or so back there were reports that Shaw was taking grounders at 2nd base, possibly meaning the Brewers had an eye on a 3rd baseman via trade. I'd almost say that instead of going after Machado, go after Nolan Arenado. The Rockies aren't going anywhere this year and selling him now would get them a ton of prospects. We get an MVP type player for 1.5 years instead of 2-3 months. It would take a ton of prospects, but if we're going all in, then go all in. Hiura, Woodruff, Erceg, Phillips and Medieros?
  11. I am really leery of giving too much away for 2-3 months of a guy we have no chance to keep. If we could get him for something like Woodruff, Ortiz and Santana or Phillips, then okay, but I doubt that gets it done.
  12. He didn't. Just announced as DFA.
  13. Cain activated, Wilkerson down and Pina to the 10 day DL. Orf recalled, Braun to the DL. (lol)
  14. Nottingham and Burnes are up.
  15. In absolutely shocking news, Braun has been scratched. Perez will play for him.
  16. After 4 dreadful innings what makes Counsell think to himself, "Yeah, Chacin's looking pretty good, run him back out there."?
  17. I think the asking price for Bundy would be outrageous, and rightfully so. If we could get Gausman for a lesser package, I might go for that. The guy has good stuff and just seems to be one of those players desperately in need of a change of scenery.
  18. Yeah, I didn't expect them to be lights out all year, I guess I'm just hoping that Counsell doesn't burn them out. We don't seem to like to let our starters ever go more than 90 pitches or so it seems.
  19. Not gonna lie, I'm beginning to get a tiny bit concerned about our bullpen...
  20. Stearns has to make a move for a SS, you can't keep running Arcia and Sogard out there and expect to win games. I know they got Brad Miller, but last I heard he wasn't exactly looking like a gold glover at SS down in the minors.
  21. That doesn't seem like a big haul at all. Yeah, it's a rental but its a rental with an extra 6 more weeks than usual. I'd say a pretty good deal by the Nationals.
  22. There's a guy on twitter right now arguing that Jeffress is the reason we lost and I can't even wrap my head around that train of thought, yikes.
