  1. I watched the game tonight as well as other games. Who cares about projections, its non relevant information. Factual performance is what gets you an every day job. Every opportunity Perez gets he performs, Walsh not so much. Plate approach by Perez is far and above that of Walsh. Perez is starting to figure things out unlike Walsh. Nobody projected Perez would start taking walks and hitting.
  2. Perez was raking at AAA. .339 avg. .834 OPS. MLB He's batting .280 and doesn't strike out on a consistent basis like Walsh. It's a no brainer. Unfortunately, Brewers will send down Rivera or Perez when Scooter comes back and keep Walsh.
  3. He's blocking Perez, who is better defensively and offensively. And I think Perez is one year younger.
  4. He's a bench player at best...doesn't need to be starting games period. The approach that giving him more starts will get him out his slump isn't going work. Bottom line is if he wasn't a Rule 5 pickup, he would of already been sent back to AAA or AA. Examples Broxton this year, Scooter last year. Perez is a better all around player anyway.
  5. One AB sent me over the top last week. We had guys on 2nd and 3rd..1 out. The game score was fairly close at that point. Walsh up...takes 3rd strike looking or swinging. Maldy gets walked to get to pitcher. Pitcher takes a couple curve strikes...fouls off one or two pitches then grounds out to ss for third out. My point is how can a pitcher who hardly ever bats put together a better AB. It's mind boggling to me. Walsh is always looking for walk instead of a hit. Same game same guy...we are shifted to right side...Walsh dives right in front of Hill instead of letting Hill field the ball and throw out the runner...and drops ball...that runner came around to score. As far as the other rule 5 guys we picked up, I don't think any of them will ever pan out. Brewers like to state that the moves provide better organizational depth, but I don't see how that's possible when most of the guys we have are better than the rule 5 guys. It's a joke that instead of taking care of the guys the Brewers have drafted and brought up through their system...they will pay league minimum to rule 5 guys who don't play and on top of it get MLB experience time without getting any experience.
  6. What is up with Lopez? Walks are out of control.
  7. I'm sorry but how is Walsh starting over Rivera? Can we make a mlb play one time?
  8. Hopefully the Brewers can score today. Didn't get much run support last year in his starts.
  9. Interesting move because he's not stretched out.
  10. Stearns is a data analysis guy who probably saw a significant sign from data that Freeman was going to turn into a valuable asset that could be flipped. Maybe it was strikeouts per inning but who knows. Again he probably saw a similar stat that caught his eye with Guerra, we'll see how that works out over the next couple of weeks. Stearns really hasn't been in baseball that long, so it will be interesting to see how he does over the next couple of years.
  11. Saw his last start in AAA...I won't be surprised if he doesn't make it 5 innings, but the Angels haven't seen him so it may work in his favor.
  12. Was at the Sky Sox game in Des Moines for a whole 4 innings...I can't even imagine pitching in those conditions, brutal. Surprised we don't walk 10 guys a game with those temps and wind. I battled the elements with approx. 70 other people that had nothing better to do on a Sunday. Apparently the whole month of April had low temps everywhere they played and there is still snow in Colorado Springs. Need to get out of there sooner than later.
  13. I would like to see some games being forfeited if a player is taking substances. Last night Dee Gordon had a key hit and the Marlins ended up winning the game. The guy shouldn't of been playing if this test was taken in spring training. It doesn't take a month to verify results.
  14. They specifically give the players a list of banned substances. It's up to them to check it. And if in doubt, check with MLB before taking. It really is simple.
  15. Should of optioned Peralta too...He's been doing the equivalent of Jungmanm.
  16. with the exceptions being Omaha, Des Moines, Nashville, Sacramento, New Orleans and Memphis
  17. dacbrewers, yes, but that was an exception due to the Brewers' firesale. They called up a backup SS for infield depth, a starting pitcher in Lopez. Anyone else? Reality is that haven't done this much over the years. Add Wagner and Houser to the list.
  18. If I'm not mistaken, brewers called up 3 or 4 guys from AA last year...so it was rare until last year?
  19. random notes. I've always said guys putting up great numbers at AA may not be as good as they are being hyped. While Colorado Springs may be a bad place to play...half of their games are on the road. I'm not sure anyone on this board realizes that the baseball's in AA are different than AAA, it has a serious effect on breaking balls.Hitters are way better at AAA and have a better understanding of the strike zone. Hopefully Lopez can make some adjustments.
  20. Wind could of been a serious factor since it was blowing both days...Going to Des Moines this weekend, so I'll get another look at him and post.
  21. I was at the games...He over-runs balls turning singles into doubles and triples. Fields balls then drops the ball. Runs in on balls over his head and takes bad routes to balls. That sums it up. Maybe it will motivate him to play better getting called out by opposing team...still doesn't make it right.
  22. Mentioned yesterday how bad Broxton has been playing OF...Apparently Omaha had a promo tonight regarding every misplay by Broxton...pretty messed up in my opinion. At least he homered.
  23. Yes, Both guys have been hitting the ball to all fields.
  24. Had the pleasure of attending the weekend series between Colorado Springs and Omaha. I'll give everyone my opinion on a couple things. First, several players missed a flight from Dallasr to Omaha, one of which was the starter for Saturday's game. While he did arrive before the game, he was inserted as a relief pitcher. I don't have a problem with it but when he got into trouble they left him in to get hung out. We were only 2 games out of first coming into this series. Doesn't make sense when we have 9 guys in the bullpen. I suppose the coaches really don't care about winning but making an example out of someone. Second thing is...a couple guys look horrible at the plate look at some of the averages. Third thing...I don't like calling out people but Broxton looks bad in the outfield. This is the kind of OF I have seen played in Wisconsin and Helena. Over the course of 2 days, he clearly misplayed 6 balls only one of which was called an error. Official scorer was padding the Stormchasers numbers for sure. I was wondering why he was not in Center field and it's because Reed plays it better. Side note: I really like the AB's that Reed takes...making the pitcher work. Back to Broxton...Ran in on several balls that were over his head. I will cut him a little slack because the wind was blowing 20 to 40 mph both days but the other outfielders were not having these problems. And yes, Broxton does have a better arm than Khris Davis. If ya think Colorado Springs is a tough place to play, Omaha might come in 2nd when the wind is blowing. It's unfortunate that the sky sox lost both games because they had the lead in both games and it left me scratching my head about some of the coaching decisions that were made. I'm going to Des Moines over the weekend, so I'll give another report later.
